Just gonna put it out there, Skyblock needed these kind of updates to stay fully relevant. I'm not saying that it would've died without them but they're really helping Skyblocks status and playability!
Ain't no new minecraft player is gonna go and play on 1.8 after they started playing on like 1.16+

I am so glad Hypixel are now considering embracing newer updates. So many new blocks, mechanics and features that have been untouched, there is so much potential and we have been limited for so long. Last time Hypixel updated a version, we weren't even in the OTS guild yet ;)
I actually have some mods that have NO compatibility for newer versions, and won't have it anytime soon. The performance mods for 1.19.x don't work well for some old PCs, not also mentioning that 90% of all Skyblock players actively use 1.8.x versions. And saying "jUsT gEt a NeW pC!111!!!1!" won't really help, considering that most of Minecraft's players don't have a lot of money. My best bet is that developers will make 1.8.9 ⇾ 1.19 bridges, allowing for the same 1.19.x functionality on 1.8.9, with higher FPS than on 1.19.x.

1.19 is gonna have higher fps than 1.8 because they can run completely custom code, its not even gonna be 1.19 its gonna be like a custom version handmade by hypixel for their server, just like they dont even run 1.8, they run a custom .jar
@@user-bi1vv3vq3i some of them have features that help with older systems! i forget which one but a sodium? maybe? there are so many minor performance mods that i couldn't tell you which one has an option to help older systems
7:40 | The only difference between the latest versions and 1.8 besides attack speed (they can get rid of that btw) are entity hitboxes being smaller.
In case you don't know, your hitbox is smaller in the latest versions which can make it so you don't get hits as easily as you're used to. I've been using the latest versions on Hypixel for a while now and it's pretty good once you get the hang of it.

1.19 Skyblock could make Dungeon Bosses completely unique, rather than just using Vanilla assests with new code
If they make skyblock 1.19 then they could even add skyblock variants of shields and elytra imagine playing tank with the ability to have a proper shield
elytra with drags is gonna be WILD

they could also add tridents which would be good for berserker
I cant wait to have the most immense amount of lag possible with the newer versions having, saying that im not quite sure how it is on servers but if they can find some sort of way of converting 1.8 to 1.19 with the same performance, it will actually be insane

its gonna run better, hypixel already uses a ridiculously custom version file, spoiler alert its not even 1.8, its 1.7 modified to the point it can handle 1.8 items lmao, they can just take the 1.19 file, remove EVERYTHING they dont care about, and with stuff like paper, purpur, fabric, etc, it can run even better
1.19 will increase the game so much, so many additions like blocks, and features involving menu, inventory, and other gui changes.
only blocks, particles and entity types are the real deal, the rest is pretty much the same
but what about the pvp system? they wont leave it on 1.9+ pvp for sure but 1.8 pvp on 1.19 is pretty bad (it can lag a lot and there is a delay between the hits)
@@vachemeliqishvili3034 Doesn't matter. Damage is fully custom so even if you hit with 0 cooldown you'll still deal full dmg.

What I'm most scared about changing Skyblock's version is the mods. Most mods are made on 1.8.9 and many mod creators have worked hard on it. Could you imagine how many more hours they'd have to put extra just to update it to 1.19?

Skytlis already said they would move to 1.19 if sb updates, and stuff like SBE or Soopy would also naturally follow as well. Idk about NEU and SBA but why wouldn’t they?

kinda worried about performance on newest version. Since 1.8 optimisation has really taken a dive and with the tons of particles and items skyblock has I fear it might be unplayable. How many of you get low fps at spawn even with good setups? It's a little worrisome.
With set of fabric mods 1.19 outperforms 1.8.9

If this was a year ago, I would have definitely havw bwwn very against using the latest version. But, with the crazy ammount of improvements in preformance, and the millions of new things you can custimize with commands and such makes me very excited for when the update comes!

I’d like to argue against dungeon skill trees. While on one hand I do really like the idea, skill trees would make some classes way too powerful. Instead I would say you should get something like a tuning point but for one of your class stats to make the bonuses slightly stronger. I feel like this can add more diversity to the game without making classes stronger. An example can be like if you put all these points in the archer damage bonus you would get a larger bonus
I think catacombs are good as is. My problem is progression, only mage has good weapon progression and you can easily argue against it. When all classes use terminator and Hyperion, there is a problem
They could make the foraging update on a different island that is 1.19+ exclusive but also make it so that you can NOT enter unless you are on the correct version isntead of updating the entire server. Also this would keep most of the players that play on Hypixel.
That is exactly what they're doing, atleast for now unfortunately. I hope they update fully to 1.19 reasonably soon
Farming sucks on the latest versions. Try farming pumpkins or melons, they lag you back ever second.

man honestly the rift update is sick ofc but they just added so many random things in the trailer like a chicken flying up and transforming into an egg or a guy shooting baloons and eating cake once again its sick but it just look like there are a bunch of random features all over the place

There are plugins to change how the attack mechanics work, so that wouldn’t be an issue, for example, with spigot, you can download a plugin to make it work like 1.8 fight mechanics do *with dual wield*
1.19 has a feature to have 0 hitting cooldown like 1.8
1.19 gonna be FIRE with the displays and interaction entities and pvp will not be an issue if they just change the attack speed attributes
I have a lot of cool ideas for the foraging update I’d like to tell the admins about like how the skill tree will be named and how the critters can be made more useful where can I post these ideas to where the admins can see
Edit: I see a lot of people worried about 1.19 mechanics interfering with berserk weapons and I’d like to mention you can already play on 1.19 and they work just fine only issue is you can’t block

@@ultratronger literally everything combat related in skyblock depends on the 1.8 combat system. Hit cooldowns and crits would interfere with 90% of combat mechanics

@@user-mm5xz8ib8c Wdym with crits, what changed about them, but either way, you can use simple commands, or if you want it more smooth you just need like 30 minutes max, to remove the cooldown and such with a plugin. The combat is the easiest of the problems.

Also pvp won’t be awful because they can use attributes not the skyblock ones but on a sword there can be stats on it like attack speed so there is 0 cooldown by Minecraft commands

theres a command in the later versions called /attribute where you can set the pvp back to 1.8 using the attack speed attribute, im not sure of the value but thats some food for thought

And i got a conspiracy why u got so many rngs, think about it, the game coulda been tricked whilst comboing it with the souls rebound and 1 shotting like it counts as multiple bosses

1.19 is actually a very versatile version, modding wise. The only version better is probably 1.12. It will take a while to port them all over, but mods will go crazyyy. Nobody's ready for this

i hoped everyone realized this after we got spoilers from minikloon showing stuff like the "karen enderman" class which spoiled the fact that they are making a custom server jar for most likely modern versions. A project called Minestom (a significantly faster mc server jar for 1.19 without) recently had a hypixel admin join it aswell so that's really cool. Glad hypixel is going forward

this might get me to play it again:) A long time ago i always thought updating to the most recent version was just the best option for skyblock
I think that at this point skyblock is such a big and complex thing, that they would benefit greatly from some Mojang assistance. Imagine if they rolled out with a version of the game specifically for SB that had old combat, and new everything else. that'd prolly never happen though.
I think attack speed can be set to zero on weapons with the attribute command, I'm not sure though

@@Snakeybloo They will, just not now, just think, the server and skyblock are optimized for 1.8, if they optimize or fully update it for 1.19, there won't be as much lag as you think, in fact if it is optimized 1.19+ will run a lot better, because minecraft had a lot of performance updates.
I do hope they can still make the old combat system in 1.8.9 for swords in most cases late game users use hyperions or terminators but if they mess up the combat it can mess up many mid and early game players the new combat system is terrible and will mess up slayers and early game players if we have to time are hits asside from that its still an insane update im looking foward to

Refraction doesent know blaze slayer makes 90m/h lol. The updates look sick, also I think that 1.9 combat mechanics would be good for skyblock and make the combat much more enjoable and customizible.
Attack speed wouldn’t be a thing and dungeons would be so painful with 1.9 combat

@@GuardianIsIdiot not really, Wynncraft has the 1.9 combat mechanics and works perfectly and even has dungeons, Infact the combat is much more exciting than the 1.8 one. Btw you would be able to set attack speed, its not even a hard thing to do.

What in my opinion is the most exciting thing is that 1.19 has way more advanced texture pack and shaders that will most likely be usable with hypixel, it will definitely be fun to see how they implement a 1.19 world into a mostly 1.8.9 server and in the future actually converting the whole skyblock server into 1.19

1.9+ pvp is infinitly superior it actually makes ppl with potato mice and trash ping be able to play on servers without getting insta mopped(not that i dnt have a good mouse). and its also more fun using a shield and crit.

They need to add raids to skyblock. They added dungeons for teams of 5 people, so it would be sick if they added long and complex mechanical raids for teams of at least 10 people or something.

gonna provide my economics brain here for a moment and suggest that an additional reason for this 1.19 shift is to negate the threat that servers such as MCCI could pose to Hypixel's monopoly in the Minecraft server industry. They will likely create new games outside skyblock using 1.19 mechanics
