@@sussirojas2073 I use megaray 160 watt lamps placed about 18 inches or a little more from basking spot. I do have to be careful for when they get bigger, their spines get closer to the light and can burn the spines. in that case, I'll hang the light from a hook from the ceiling so I can bring the light up.
Robert Moreno I would separate to ensure she gets all the food and basking time she needs to recover. Once she is back to normal weight you can try and re introduce them. See to it that she gets plenty of water. Congrats and good luck!
So would you need to feed a female iguana extra when she was eggs and what nutrients would you need to give her. How would you dispose or get rid of the eggs
I don’t know what you feed yours, but just keep giving her as much as she can eat. As she becomes more gravid, she will start to eat less. But leave enough for her to pick at through out the day. The eggs are eggs. You can toss them in the trash. You can feed them to an animal that likes eggs. Some people eat them. I know, gross right? And sometimes the female will reabsorb them. Hope that helps.
@@crazyscalesiguanas1838 can't you just sell them or give them away for free i heard the can hatch if you throw them away I've also heard to freeze them overnight so they won't hatch. Do female get agressive to or is it just males?. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong about any of this
Sussi Guadarrama sorry, I do not. But I don’t have any iguanas for sale either. I’m 4 yrs in on a 6 yr project. And just 1-2 yrs on other 6 yr projects. It’s possible some project can be just 4 yrs. Unfortunately trying to sell norms or reds or even normal blues doesn’t really pay anything because of shipping cost. I sell at local shows or to people I come across here in Louisiana. But I keep most of the last 2 yrs because I’m working with 50% hets. So until they breed I won’t know who has what genes and even then I may have to rotate males to different female groups. But thank you so much for your support, you’re awesome. If you’re interested in a blue or red a may be able to work something out. Hit me up on Instagram Crazyscales69
During breeding season they’re not very hungry and when I move one to a new enclosure it can take some time for it to start eating again. But feeding ever day is ok. I let them fast once a week but I feed them daily other than that. Hope that helps and thank you for watching Rich!

I think I’m answering this correct. Yes females will flare their dulap just like males. Theirs just doesn’t get as big as males do. The use that to communicate with each other.
Hey so my iguana is 2.5 years and I think he’s going in heat... he never will be calm in his terrarium now in the daytime and is extremely restless. I’m not sure what to do now I just want him to find peace
Onyx Umstead yep, sounds like that time of year. Get him a green stuff toy like an alligator or dinosaur or something similar. And give him space. Keep talking to him, if you can, get him on a perch at least 6 foot off the ground. He will bob and look for females. It’s a little exercise for him. Hope that helped👍🏻
Thank you for your help but I have been trying everything that they say to feed them I spent. $30.00 bucks and she is still a picky one and still running from me and still peeing a lot. I'm getting ready to put it in a bigger home so when you see white in there pee and poop does this mean they are a male?
Iguanas don’t have bladders . When they use the bathroom you should see 3 parts. The white stuff, the clear stuff and then the mostly solid brown stuff. If you don’t see a lot of clear stuff this could mean the iguana is dehydrated, also if you notice the poop looking like rabbit or goat poop that could also mean it’s dehydrated. If you don’t see a good amount white stuff this could mean that its not getting enough minerals and nutrients in its diet. As far as the behavior of the animal, it would be impossible for me to help. To many variables as to why she acts the way she does. If you follow me on Instagram, you can send me pics and short videos. You can show me how you pick her up and I can see her in closure . Stuff like that. @Crazyscales69 . I’m looking forward to helping you 👍🏻
I guess, just depends on your iguana. I have one that goes nuts when I wear my glow in the dark skull shirt. But I’m not in the dark and it’s only that one. And yours may not be effected by what you wear at all. I said that just in case anyone was having unexplained panic with their iggy. I have seen a difference. Thanks for your question.
It really depends on where your iggy is from. But I usually watch the female. She’ll start to digging a lot . Most of my pairs get put together around October-November. Hope that helps and thanks for watching !

Can you please tell me what you think???
Iguanas don’t have bladders, like birds. It is a good sign to see a lot of liquid in there poop. As far as the appetite, some iguanas do eat less during a shed but some don’t. See if she’ll eat collard greens, turnip greens, mustard greens, kale. See if she starts eating after she sheds. You can help her shed by daily baths. Thank you for watching and hopefully that helps.
You can try it but be prepared to separate them if need be. But it also depends on the size of you cage. If you notice they’re competing for basking spot, provide two basking spot. Ive had better luck than not.
