As a Dorset man born and bred, now living in the Far East i have stumbled across your animation and can only say "Congratulations" in all my years (84 now) i have never imagined that Corfe Castle looked like this. I am truely staggered. Thank you. I will never get back to see it, but i can now see it in the way that i have wondered since i was a small boy.
I live about 20 miles away. One of my earliest memories is walking through the gates on a school trip when I was 5 or 6. I've been a history geek ever since. I've often wondered how it looked before it was blown up, this is, by far the best reconstruction I have seen... amazing, I am in awe :)
@@CurtisLittlechild92 While I love history and like to leave the past undisturbed I think that places like this should be restored as closely as possible to encourage tourism.
That is gorgeous. Well done! It really evokes the space, and the reveals in the end, stripping it back to the present day, are great. I think historical reconstruction is a huge & still really-untapped market for 3D animation and simulation.
Love this reconstruction. I have lived in the village since 2005 and was born in Dorset. From the rear of my house I can see the ruined castle and i can now appreciate what it once was, a splendid Norman structure with later additions that truly dominated the only route through the Purbeck Hills. Well done on a splendid animation!
As someone who "back in the day" (the 60s) use to camp with the lads in Swanage but went to Corfe to have a drink (cos it was away from all the tourists in comparison to Swanage). We often wondered what the castle must have looked like before Oli Cromwell blew it up. Now I know. Well done, excellent work....
Turns out I'm actually related to Lady Mary, the British Royalist who held this castle during the 3 year siege!! So cool! They threw rocks and hot coals off the castle to defend it! She was ultimately betrayed by someone in her guard and they took the castle and destroyed it.😢
Seeing the Castle like this brought back to life, for me puts her on par with Windsor in sheer majesty, and is a far more threatening and ominous presence to behold. Those Normans sure knew how to bring a country under their control.
In 25-years' time (and if the National Trust had the money) I could imaging being issued with a pair of augmented reality specs which would superimpose something similar.
Great work! My Gran lives in the village and some of my earliest memories are of the castle. Always wondered what it might have looked like and now I feel I know!
Fantastic reconstruction. Can you tell me if you work in this industry still? Would be interested in talking about many heritage sites and reconstruction projects this form of digital reconstruction would be useful for. I'm based in Bournemouth and work for a planning consultant as their heritage advisor.
Terrific. As a lad who (with a load of guys and girls ) when not going to Cornwall from London to surf would go to Swanage in the 60s. And Corfe was ALWAYS on the 'Visit List'. Especially one night when we got 'a little bit DRUNK' in the town pub and ended up sleeping in the castle. Don't ask me how we did it..... I have no idea. 😁 But THANK YOU I always wondered what the castle must have looked originally.
This is absolutely stunning, well done! I recreated it about 20 years ago in photoshop, which took me ages, cant imagine how long this took! and you have certainly done a much better job!
Great reconstruction, I really like the contrast between today and how it would have appeared. And it has been seen more than 100,000 times on Facebook! facebook.com/visitdorchester/videos/796609677151817/
Hi mate, We love your video! Can we use a few seconds from your video for our own video. its for a videoproject. we made corfe castle in miniature and we like to make a video about it but we need footage of the castle. The miniature version stands in Miniworld Rotterdam in the Netherlands. You can visit thier youtube page when the video is done to see it. Of course we put a reference to the source that de footage come from your video. I would like to hear form you.
Well, it looks pretty, thank you very much for the presentation! By the way: I wonder why it is called "3 D" but presented in "2 D". (A hunt for future projects.)
AMAZING and sad!!! Could be great if restauration could prevail before preservation of rubbles. Will people let, what once been a magnificent castle, keep collapsing till nothing standing but a pile of stones… for the sake of "non-interventionism"? Money money… i know :(

Having lived in Church Knowle, a mile from the castle, it's lovely to see how it looked before it was blown up. Thanks very much. Tony

It’s such a shame.

This has been my favourite place in the UK ever since I was a kid. Always wanted to see a reconstruction like this. Excellent work!!

We visited Corfe Castle during a summer around 1978 and never forgot it. This is a brilliant presentation.

I often joke about the ruins: "It'll be nice when it's finished".

Now as a 71 year old i can look back on my first visit as a child aged 5, thank you so much.

Great job with the digital reconstruction especially with the comparison. Thanks and God bless you
Very well done, very realistic. Wish it was longer.
Why does it make me so sad to see a castle in disrepair. The 3D construction shows us just how magnificent it was during it's actual use.
Super. Just what I was looking for after visiting with my young son today.
This is a fantastic video, thank you for posting this as I visited here today and wondered what it would look like before it got demolished
I lived in Swanage from 1995 until 2005, but had known Corfe Castle for much longer than that. This is truly fascinating!
This is awesome! If only there were more videos like this featuring other castles!
Beautifully rendered... living nearby it's amazing to see such a well executed presentation of how it once looked.
Brilliant mate! Been to Corfe Castle twice! Was great watching this! Really well done.

Went there just today and saw this video on a screen in the ticket office. It’s a damn shame it was demolished.
Top marks. A brilliant piece of work. Well done. Saw the picture in The Times (April 15)
My 11th great grandfather, Sir John Bankes, owned that castle in the 1600s before it was destroyed.
Seems like many ancient castles got destroyed 1600s-1700s
FABULOUS!!! Do lots more of these please?! The Kevin McLeod music accompanying is beautiful too. ~Linda from Montana
The history of the place is quite astonishing.

Thanks Ciprian. I´ve often thought about this.
One of the few occasions CGI is useful. It is beautiful. I wish I was there.
Amazing
Love the transition of past and present at 0:48 - great job.

Amazing! Thank you for the time you put into making this.
Great video. I will share on my Facebook group.
Really well done. Love the natural camera movement and the reconstruction looks great. Hope you got good marks!
Wow.
A wonderful 3D reconstruction!
Brill! Saved to favourites.
If i could pick a time to live in this would be it.
Excellent work! Left my contact details with the National Trust office at the castle if you're interested in elaborating this project ..
Incredible, very well made.
Brilliant tracking and 3d modelling 👍😎
This is brilliant , thanks so much for making it!
Nice walk tour and music choice 😃😃
That was amazing! Thank you!

Amazing love it there
Thanks for creating this.
Really nicely done! Thank you.
Are there more of these video's online, awesome job!
Beautifully done!
great reconstruction the cgi is great
Incredible! It was beautiful and it's kinda sad how much time destroys everything
It was blown up during the Civil War but I take your point.
Well done!
Splendid!
Great work.

Excellent video....very impressive :)
Excellent!
Well done.
Excellent!!!
Thank you
Wow did you 3D model the whole castle, if so is it an available resource? With VR now we're pretty close to visiting it.
This makes me inordinately sad for some reason.
Cromwell has a lot to answer for.
what is this music? thank you
Amazing!
Hey! I worked there!
Please do it!
Well, it looks pretty, thank you very much for the presentation! By the way: I wonder why it is called "3 D" but presented in "2 D". (A hunt for future projects.)
Is anyone else here because there's online school and we have to watch this video for a history class.. just me? Okay.
I wonder why doesn't the government try to restore these buildings?
You fooled me I started this and said how is it I have never seen this castle before then it went to ruins.
What software did you use?
AMAZING and sad!!! Could be great if restauration could prevail before preservation of rubbles. Will people let, what once been a magnificent castle, keep collapsing till nothing standing but a pile of stones… for the sake of "non-interventionism"? Money money… i know :(
An authentic ruin is always better than a fake reconstruction.
@@ingelrii4662 Well said
@@ironhawk175 Have you tried Bannerlord beta?
I think of Cromwell’s devastating gunpowder when I think of Corfe. What a shame. This video rights a wrong for me. Thank you.

Pretty cool, but when it was in it's heyday, it would have been white washed.
