    I may have missed it in the video, but a very important detail is the duty cycle of this unit. Rigid recommends 5 minutes of run time followed by 5 minutes off for a 50% duty cycle. It can obviously run much longer, but it will shorten the life if you ignore the duty cycle. I have a Tornador at home and this seems like an excellent unit to buy for my occasional use, as well as tire pressures, air gun, or in general compressed air through a nozzle to clean something out, but for the professionals they should keep duty cycle in mind. I'm guessing they have their Tornadors running for much more than 5 minutes at a time without giving the compressor a break.

      I have cooked all the other harbor freight pancake compressors in my van but got the most life out of the craftsman but the price jumped from $99 to $160 so I purchased the 6 gallon rigid pancake and honestly cooked it in a week or two in the back of my van. Preformed proper break in on all the units and release pressure. Going to try this unit buying tonight. Hope this one holds up.

  • @stanleykachuik2589
    @stanleykachuik2589 Рік тому +6

    After researching air compressors and owning several for welding and sandblasting. Here's the downlow. I call it the rule of 5.
    SCFM is a measure of how much air the compressor pulls from the atmosphere. To know how much air flow is going to your tool, devide by 5. Based on that, you quickly see that each true CFM being delivered to your tool costs $500. You need to run a 3cfm tool. Expect to pay $1500 for the compressor that claims to have 14-16 scfm. Most everything else ( PSI, horsepower, duty cycle, oil less, tank size ect. ) Only affects longevity of the compressor.

      Thanks James! I don’t know if it can be mounted vertically though. Perhaps reach out to Ridgid directly and see what they say.
      If I had to guess, I would say no, as the drain valves are beneath the tanks and if you mount it vertically it might prevent correct access to those.

    Great video Pan! Please do a video on the new Tornador MAX. That looks so interesting and love the swivel connection on it! Just curious if that connection will fit a Euro Flow connection that I bought from OG. Its a Prevost S1 Euro connection. Will industrial fit Euro? If not, can the swivel on the Tornador Max be made with a Euro connection? I bought into Matts philosophy from OG with more air flow with Euro and now it seems nothing fits Euro.

    Love your videos man! I’m about to start my detailing business very soon and I appreciate some helpful videos I find when I need some assurance on certain things, I wanted to ask what do you think about the 6 gallon rigid air compressor instead of the 4.5 since it’s $200 cheaper

    • @PanTheOrganizer
      @PanTheOrganizer  Рік тому +2

      The 6 gallon version wouldn't be a good choice for detailing in my opinion, as the Ridgid 6 gallon pancake version only outputs 2.6 SCFM at 90 psi, compared to the more expensive 4.5 gal unit which has an air delivery of 5.1 SCFM at 90 psi which is needed for higher requirements of tools like the Tornador.
      SCFM (not the regular CFM rating) is key when selecting an air compressor, and you want at least 5 SCFM at 90 psi.

    Hi Pan. A very nice and clear explanation of your recommended air compressor.
    I recently needed to get a new one and opted for a Husky 30 gal 175psi. My old 20 gallon lasted 25 years. If I may HIGHLY RECOMMEND something is that when shopping for a compressor get the quietest one you can find. This Rigid one that you have here is 77 db which is excellent. You might not think that it matters but believe me it really does. I chose 30 gallon over 20 (my old one) and am extremely glad I did. I also chose to have 2 hoses, one 25 footer and one 50 footer. It’s easier to maneuver a shorter hose. Most of the time I only use the 25 footer.
    I consider an air compressor a “must have” for detailers, especially if doing interiors.
    Again Pan, great video. 😀👏

    • @PanTheOrganizer
      @PanTheOrganizer  8 місяців тому

      It will turn on for sure while you are using power hungry tools continuously for sure. There are limits to what 4.5 GAL will do. It’s always a compromise of size vs performance. If you have the budget and space for a bigger air compressor, by all means go for bigger.

      I don’t use impact wrenches but from my quick research it seems most impact wrenches require approximately 5 CFM @ 90 psi and this air compressor can handle that no problem. So my guess is you should be fine.
