I live in Toronto, Canada....I heard the news of the school shooting in GA....I saw the parents running to the school, hoping desperately that their child was ALIVE and okay! It broke my heart and I couldn't help crying and wondering why it can't be dealt with.....your children are priceless and everything possible should be done to keep them safe.......I would give up EVERYTHING to have my children safe from harm.

As an American living in Belgium, I never afraid for my kids going to school like I was in USA. They have a very strict law for guns ownership . The government here put the safety of people first. USA is more and more like a country in war with all the gun violence . Defenatly not the land of the free it's more the land of corporations and lobby before the people.

The Electoral College was started in the development of the US Constitution. In part, it was instituted to collect the votes of the people in states where the people were scattered. They then took the results of their given areas to Congress to cast the results of the votes. Even DC didn't have electoral votes until 1961. It was supposed to give the people living in remote regions a voice. Their responsibility & power were written into the Constitution in Article II. In today's world, this process is obsolete. However, less populous states decry that a popular vote would still be unfair, as more populous states would have too much power over any election. I hope this helps.

A lesson plan needs to be developed, and Congress needs to make it a requirement, just like Science, Social Studies, History, Math, etc. One class, even if it's imbedded in Social Studies.

@Lazmanarus well actually "well regulated" doesn't mean "subordinate to" it means "well formed and organized" aka regulars vs irregulars. Military units that are referred to as regulars have a set structure and chain of command, etc while irregular or unregulated troops are militia who may simply be a bunch of yokles with guns answering to one person. It was written in a time prior to having a set military and was as you stated, primarily about repelling foreign invaders.

As an American living in Belgium, I never afraid for my kids going to school like I was in USA. They have a very strict law for guns ownership . The government here put the safety of people first. USA is more and more like a country in war with all the gun violence . Defenatly not the land of the free it's more the land of corporations and lobby before the people.
Same, as someone who grew up in the US.. I'm so glad my son didn't go to school there. I delivered him and raised him in Norway and I know I am so much more fortunate than my family in the US.

you know, I did not trust hm the first time I learned of and laid eyes on him via the news a few years ago. I have been on the receiving end of a text during a lockdown, which turned out to be unnecessary but the trauma still registered. The electoral process was set up by goverment for goverment to override the people's voice in GOVERMENT SELECTIONS.
The Electoral College was started in the development of the US Constitution. In part, it was instituted to collect the votes of the people in states where the people were scattered. They then took the results of their given areas to Congress to cast the results of the votes. Even DC didn't have electoral votes until 1961.
It was supposed to give the people living in remote regions a voice.
Their responsibility & power were written into the Constitution in Article II.
In today's world, this process is obsolete. However, less populous states decry that a popular vote would still be unfair, as more populous states would have too much power over any election.

As a teen, 30% of our vehicles, lots of trucks, had rifles in them during hunting season, in our high school parking lot. And school shooting never entered our consciousness.
My high school graduating class had 30 souls, of course. Guns were normal, but respected, and nothing like this ever entered our minds.
I think guns are too entwined in the movie industry, and Junior High should have a required class about the seriousness of firearms. So that when high school occurs, kids are briefed and aware, having written an essay, on the effect of rampant gun violence in movies, TV shows, on the psyche of a mind, individually and collectively.
A lesson plan needs to be developed, and Congress needs to make it a requirement, just like Science, Social Studies, History, Math, etc. One class, even if it's imbedded in Social Studies.

@Lazmanarus well actually "well regulated" doesn't mean "subordinate to" it means "well formed and organized" aka regulars vs irregulars. Military units that are referred to as regulars have a set structure and chain of command, etc while irregular or unregulated troops are militia who may simply be a bunch of yokles with guns answering to one person. It was written in a time prior to having a set military and was as you stated, primarily about repelling foreign invaders.
