So in short 1. When your planning to shoot , look at the basket as soon as you get the ball (start looking early) 2. Look through your eyebrows ( don't tilt your head) 3. Don't pull the ball towards your body to Inc strength rather keep it a little away from your body Anything extra , do suggest what I missed
Yeah I tried this and I missed almost the whole time I can’t find a good video on shooting Hey it’s me again about 2 hours later and turns out I just needed to to practice with I’m starting to get the hang of it, so that’s my bad and good video
It's hard to keep my head flat, i wear glasses and the little space when you look up, is empty, and i have HORRIBLE vision, i cant see the basket, so im forced to put my head up a little
I used to have the basic elbows in with both feet pointing at the basket form.(this is what my coach taught me) because i had a tilt in my feet and my elbow sticking out a bit. I tried to shoot like what my coach had taught me and I couldn't make any of my shots that season. Now I have a different coach that lets me shoot however the way I like to shoot and as long as I can consistently make them i can keep shooting. My form isn't the best looking but it works for me and is more consistent then trying to shoot both feet squared and elbows exactly towards the basket. Using my new form I can now shoot and make three pointers unlike last yr when I couldn't make a three. Now my teamates and coaches are confident in me taking shots even as far as the half court logo
On targeting I always remember the great slow mo in Hoosiers of the Jimmy Chitwood character catching a pass no-look because he’s looking at the basket
if you upload a video (and tag me) of you shooting 10 free throws, 10 mid-range and 10 3-point shots recorded from the side view I will upload a break down commentary and a video of me on the court showing any advice I might have for you. Shot mechanics are often different for females and I have been studying the difference for a while
About the tilted head thing. It’s actually not bad to tilt your head if your struggling with arc. I had struggled with a flat arc myself and was given advice to tilt my chin up just a bit to raise my arc. It worked but it’s more so about not overdoing it and finding out what works for you.
just practice shooting threes for an hour and all of the were airballs and i dont know what i did wrong... cant tell you how much this was helpful to me... cus those were all the little mistakes i did and i know now how to fix it
I think this is good advice taking a spot-up three but IMO, when the three's stop falling you must perfect a mid-range shot, i.e., a pull-up jumper or a turn-around jumper, first. In these shots, you can't stare at the basket. You only have a fraction of a second before you shoot and many times you have to shoot the ball above your head. Also, in a last second desperation shot, you also can't shoot with perfect form. You must improvise, i.e., shoot from any position while fading left or right, front or back. These tips allow you to be a great screen shooter but not a great scorer and you cannot be your team's primary scorer.
Thank you so much i followed all the steps you said and from two terrible matches with 7 and 8 points today i dropped 27 by regaining my broken shoot 🙏🙏
All is good with this video. Love it. However, we as coaches must teach the players to catch the ball first, before they shoot. If one take their eyes away from the ball before they catch it, that usually results in a fail catch and a turnover.
The issue with my shot is that it takes so long for my hands to feel comfortable shooting off the dribble. Often the ball slips a bit in my hand and then ive lost control of the ball as i go up. What can i do about this?
Just like the other dude said.Powder up your hands or do drills to the point that you feel comfortable shooting off the dribble.Only repeating the same move will make you better at it.
I can't find that one video, in that video you showed about the set point an the foundation and how to shoot something like that i think it helps me improve alot and i want to watch it again, can you help me please
Question to ballers who found their own unique release and follow through: did you switch around your favorite nba players until you found the one player’s shot that felt most comfortable to you? I remember I kept switching around from Lebron, KD, Steph and now I’m really liking the way Harden uses his whole arm through the follow through. Is this a bad method I should stop doing? P.S. I’m just a amateur 5’11’’ 32 old dude who just wants to be competent in pick up games.
How do you make fadeaways if you don't tilt your head back? This is just contradictory. And you can't really tell how you are going to catch the ball all the time. Sometimes the passes come clean sometimes you have to reach for the pass and lcok and load.
I havnt played basketball in 2 years and my shot is heavily broke💀shoot a 3, air ball, shoot a 3, goes all the way to the right or left depending where I’m at
Do what feels physically comfortable, unless it is causing problems. if you upload a video (and tag me) of you shooting 10 free throws, 10 mid-range and 10 3-point shots recorded from the side view I will upload a break down commentary and a video of me on the court showing any advice I might have for you.
Klay Thompson has the best form I've ever seen. Ray Allen is a close second but Klay is perfect... Although his percentage doesnt reflect it... he should be better than he is believe or not... especially when the corner three is so easy.
What if there’s a tall dude trying not to make you score? so what do I do? So if I am trying to shoot how can I shoot when he is blocking and reaching when I’m short?
im really bad at mid shots but i dont focus on it for now, im actually pretty good with 3s but sometimes i get kinda nervous and then i cant even throw the ball correctly, i have form similar to steph currys but im not copying him, im using that form coz im short and i cant do a 2 motion. so the question is how can i overcome that
my jump shots are ridiculously out of control. I can't control the power somehow. it's good when im shooting at long ranges but at 2 points it just flies high above the board then boom. no matter how little I jump if ai jump it just goes flying to outer space. what am I doing wrong?
"Target through your eyebrows"
DAM NO WONDER ANTHONY DAVIS BE KILLIN IT
Eyebrow lol
TARGET THROUGH YOUR EYEBROW
HAHAHAHAH 😆
The eyebrow lol 😁😁😂😂😂😂
he dunks through his eyebrows
So in short
1. When your planning to shoot , look at the basket as soon as you get the ball (start looking early)
2. Look through your eyebrows ( don't tilt your head)
3. Don't pull the ball towards your body to Inc strength rather keep it a little away from your body

Yeah I tried this and I missed almost the whole time I can’t find a good video on shooting
Hey it’s me again about 2 hours later and turns out I just needed to to practice with I’m starting to get the hang of it, so that’s my bad and good video
Tbh don't change your shot make sher your footing is right that's main part to do with your shot
Watch this video late last night, went to the gym this afternoon, by far I was the best shooter in there today. Thank u
#2 is absolutely spot on. had a problem with inconsistently tilting my head back before shooting which led to random hitches here and there.
It's hard to keep my head flat, i wear glasses and the little space when you look up, is empty, and i have HORRIBLE vision, i cant see the basket, so im forced to put my head up a little

Bro i changed my form to this and instantly started makeing more shots

Recommended to play at speed 0.75x. SOunds natural and not crazy slow
That advice with my head position.really.helped me out. Thxs

He never address wrist strength, and finger spreading..if your wrist goes crooked no matter how straight your elbow is..you will miss constantly..
Awesome technique
Coach Colin can you explain the difference between a soft hand and a stiff or tough hand.
this helps cause i always look at the ball before i shoot now i know why its not accurate as my shots are mainly on target
He helped me on my shot real good I kept being the ball to close to my body on my waist and one I started giving it s space between I was splashing
Do I target at the back rim, front rim, or in between the rim?
Front of the rim

just look at the basket, overthinking will make it worse
Yea I never try to "aim" at anything I just look and shoot
just practice shooting threes for an hour and all of the were airballs and i dont know what i did wrong... cant tell you how much this was helpful to me... cus those were all the little mistakes i did and i know now how to fix it

Thanks man, I appreciate it. Now my three pointers are butter smooth.

His tips sucks sometimes.its all in the fingers and wrist mostly
Thank you so much I watched this and my next varsity game in high school I made 10 threes and had 40 points

Great advice! I see what I’m doing so wrong now! Thank you so much!!
BROO, I didn't know about the elbow, I think that's why I miss so much
Thank you @Shotmechanics
The issue with my shot is that it takes so long for my hands to feel comfortable shooting off the dribble. Often the ball slips a bit in my hand and then ive lost control of the ball as i go up. What can i do about this?
Miguel Danlag baby powder ur hands
Just like the other dude said.Powder up your hands or do drills to the point that you feel comfortable shooting off the dribble.Only repeating the same move will make you better at it.
a confident dribble off the wood and zero in like the video teaches. keep shooting until youre out of a slump!
Practice and repetition. Try thinking ahead of what you're going to do during the play, so that you're more comfortable when shooting off a dribble.
Practice grip
My shots so broke I hold the ball normally but just before I release I only use one hand. Time to try to correct my shooting style
Can you do a dribbling vid that will destroy defenders please
I can't find that one video, in that video you showed about the set point an the foundation and how to shoot something like that i think it helps me improve alot and i want to watch it again, can you help me please

Muscle memory changes as you get stronger. You have to reprogram your muscle memory by repetition ball shooting.

I don't know. Am I? Be careful who you label. Time will tell. Judge nothing before time. Are you upset because I met your energy with my silence?👍💯
Klay Thompson has the best form I've ever seen. Ray Allen is a close second but Klay is perfect... Although his percentage doesnt reflect it... he should be better than he is believe or not... especially when the corner three is so easy.
