The sd card froze it didn't break.All you have to do is pop in and out the sd and battery to fix it

There is usually a setting within the camera, that if it is dropped, the camera will shut off. That's probably why the file was unplayable. It was corrupted in the shutoff process, very much like most old school video cameras.

Sd cards don't stand up to impact. The GoPro still works you just need to know how to unfreeze it I do.

You should test if the water proof specs match what those cameras are rated for.
I had the first contour camera. Good camera easy to use. I found mine to be verry durable. Dropped it when i was jumping a black ski jump in trysil, it fell to the snow and i landed right onto it

There is something wrong here. I have seen a gopro survive a skydive after escaping from the skydivers helmet, seen it fall from a drone and hit concrete and most of all getting thrown off a cliff yet it can't survive a smash
Hal 9000 The gopro totally survived the smash, if the footage is corrupted it doesn't mean that the camera doesn't work anymore

I did the same thong with all the GoPros (including the black,white and original) but they seem frozen. However, when I dropped them from chest height (shoulder height for me) they were rebooting and okay. Did you try dropping it again?

Had a gopro on a late model stock at the local track hood came off the car knocked the gopro off of it's mount and got ran over a few times never stopped recording it was awesome to see

+dragonslayer1483 gopros have fallen off of planes and survived, kept recording, and the video survived so its not that bad for the gopro. I've also seen a video where a guy founf a gopro at the bottom of a river, he charged it and found a video of white water rafters wjo dropped it from several years ago
