Same here. I went through HS without enjoying a single activity...😔 I would've wanted to join sports, go to Homecoming, Jr. and Sr. Proms. 😔 My Parents were so Super JWs, that if back then there would've been homeschooling, for sure they would've pulled us all kids out of regular school.

Matthew 28:18 Baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit. If you go beyond what is written you baptize in the name of Jehovah, Jesus, and the organization. Check it out!
This 1977 movie, Saturday Night Fever (R) had a scene in it showing the Watchtower Brooklyn Building. Yes, I saw this movie and was counseled for it. Great podcast, now I feel like disco-ing to Bee Gees music and beat a pinata. Pinatas are now allowed (an un-re-unwritten rule) according to an early 2000 Awake Magazine. Anyone have a bottle of MaCallan, I feel like partying!
I remembered the 70s when we were condemned for having Rock or any kind of posters on our walls, especially Autographed! It was Creature Worship! Ive been out for 20 years and can't believe how different Watchtower is now. I'm glad it's getting obvious that it's a cult. The teens leave ASAP along with others waking up. With all levels of age, from 1 to 100 in Watchtower, its Astronomically the younger ones leaving. Now that raises Astronomically the age average in the Kingdom Halls. So if the average age is 40, and Watchtower isn't getting hardly anyone to join anymore, How long will it take for, sadly to say, but how long untill Watchtower has no living members? If you read this and are currently a JW, I'm not your enemy. I'm just a man that woke up. "If it's the Truth it can stand up to question, If it's not the Truth it SHOULD be questioned!!!! Be blessed. Someday I'd enjoy having a conversation with you. I must say my friend,,, you have the very best radio voice and the perfect personality to match. Thank you for all the informative videos
Thanks Danny! You're too kind! I was one of those kids too....I had the posters and once had an elder visit and counsel me on my Sammy Hagar, Standing Hampton cassette tape cover. NOT kidding!! LOL
What’s so funny about this is that most of the elders that I happen to know around my age which is about yours Stacy , is that they all went to discos and clubs in that era ! It’s a shame most of them haven’t woke up yet ! But these videos of yours can definitely help them wake up !
Most are slowly lulled into the 'habit' of being a JW and you're right: many of the guys serving today are my age and we had all kinds of fun back in the day!
I love the way you break things down. There are so many concepts as to what is wrong with this religion. Not just one thing. It's the fact that they don't follow the bible. Yeah they follow the obvious morals, but every Christian religion does. But when it comes to there "unique" beliefs are no where in the bible. Oh scriptures can be pieced together to vaguely prove there "unique" teachings. And the amazing thing is EVERY one of their "unique" teachings can be proven wrong from the bible!
Wow...autographing the word of God. Really shouldn't be surprised they do say they substitute for Christ and they are the G-guardiands O-of D-doctrine.
@@survivingparadisepodcast I can't take credit for the acronym .. it was in fact Geoffey Jackson himself that called the Govening body Guardians of doctrine in his testimony at the Australian Royal Commission.
@@anniesavedbygrace His entire testimony on the stand in Australia is one of the most damning, hideous lies I've ever seen. Most JW"s don't even know about it....and the Governing Body literally sits there and lies on the stand. Not to mention how utterly unimpressive he was as a 'teacher' or speaker
Everything you say is true. You could speak on the details of how they go beyond what is written for YEARS! One thing that bothered me was that men had to have short hair. Some guys look great with long hair. The elders went around the hall nagging guys about their hair starting to inch toward their ears or collars. They railed about it in talks. Jesus & all the men of old had long hair & the bible says DONT CUT IT! Where do they get off? Portland had a music & dancing culture among JW's that I didnt experience anywhere else. The Bee Gees were huge! Did you know the Strand brothers or the Fogelquist girls? I went from that to a very rural area with small congregations spread about 30 miles apart. No dancing, no music. Only at a rare wedding. The single pioneer sisters in my congregation once wrote & dirrected a bible drama for the young people in our area. The kids all got to together several times for rehearsals, coming from miles around. It was beautiful. There was no trouble. The only time in 11 yrs they got together. After it was over, we were all in trouble. Especially the brother who allowed us to use the historic old theater stage in the upstairs of his home! He moved away! They would have passed out if they even knew I had always worn 2 piece bathing suits growing up on the west coast! I was made to buy a one piece. It was a strange combo of being in a small town where everyone saw all you did, & doing things secretly because you had NO CONTACT with other kids. It was soul killing for young people. They all grew up & left as fast as possible. So sad & SCARRING.
Sorry, to go on...but that town & congregation nearly cost me my life. I came very close to suicide. One thing saved me. I made the 1st worldly friend of my young adult life there. A man in his 60's who was a true horseman & had raised 4 daughters of his own. I exercised his roping horses & the young ones he had in training for other people after he was injured in a heavy equipment accident. He was such a great man & a born teacher. After he passed, I found out that he had saved my last message to him, written on the chalkboard in his barn where he drew diagrams for his roping students & communicated with me when we missed each other, as I rode a lot while he was at work. He saved that message for 25 yrs! And THAT is the difference between a JW cult & a "worldly" person! Very telling.
So sorry Heather, I'm just seeing these posts!! :( I hate to read of the misery so many people suffered with; it's so painful! Portland did have a big dancing and roller skating culture for the young people. I don't recognize any of those names; what part of the city?
Where I'm the watchtower translation did it say the bible student leaders where chosen by God? And if he did where did it say they have authority to discipline people on private thoughts? I think thought that verse said something about feeding, not punishment
Nowhere. It's all tied to 1919 and as this episode goes into.....they can add and take away from the Bible at will. Never mind that it completely breaks god's commands......they are above god LOL
You hit the nail on the head at @ 32 to 33 minutes in on the 2008 Watchtower reference!! Oh my goodness! I laughed for a full minute!😅😆🤣 I guess when you live with your head up your butt, (like the governing body), everything looks fine! Though I had that scripture in my list of scriptures to reprove the 3 stooges on my committee; seeing it in context with only ONE SENTENCE REMOVED from their statement completely contradicting the previous sentence just blew my mind!
Hi Stacy, I'm looking for the quote that says something to the effect of: "Bible understanding belongs to the Christian congregation alone." Could you please help me out with this one?
Here are a couple for you: United in Worship Book, page 111: "Special attention was being given to making up the government that would rule mankind for 1,000 years, and nearly all the inspired letters in the Christian Greek Scriptures are primarily directed to this group of Kingdom heirs - "the holy ones," "partakers of the heavenly calling." One more: "Also, it is to the spirit-anointed Christians who will rule in that kingdom that most of the Christian Greek Scriptures is directed, including the promises of everlasting life." - Watchtower June 15, 1974 p.376

The Bible has a bit to say about piercings: (From the NWT) Gen 24:22 When the camels had finished drinking, the man took out for her a gold nose ring weighing a half shekel and two bracelets of gold weighing ten shekels, 23 and he said: “Please tell me, whose daughter are you? Is there any room at your father’s house for us to spend the night? Ezekiel 16:8 (Jehovah himself speaking) “‘When I was passing by and saw you, I noticed that you were old enough for expressions of love. So I spread my garment over you and covered your nakedness and made an oath and entered into a covenant with you,’ declares the Sovereign Lord Jehovah, ‘and you became mine. 9 Furthermore, I washed you with water and rinsed away your blood and put oil on you. 10 I then clothed you with an embroidered garment and gave you fine leather sandals and wrapped you in fine linen, and I clothed you with costly garments. 11 I adorned you with ornaments and put bracelets on your hands and a necklace around your neck. 12I also put a ring in your nose and earrings on your ears and a beautiful crown on your head. 13 You kept adorning yourself with gold and silver, and your clothing was fine linen, costly material, and an embroidered garment. Fine flour, honey, and oil were what you ate, and you grew to be extremely beautiful, and you became fit to be a queen." Deuteronomy 15:16 “But if he says to you, ‘I will not go out from your company!’ because he loves you and your household, since he has been happy while with you, 16 you should then take an awl and put it through his ear into the door, and he will become your slave for life. You should do the same with your slave girl The one in Ezekiel is especially interesting to me since it's God himself talking about a nose ring in a positive light
It sure does Redfox, thank you. Good references! My comment was more to the modern day 'rules' of not having multiple piercings, where to pierce on your body, etc. These are all arbitrary opinions the Bible does not comment on, therefore, 'going beyond what is written'....and I'm fairly certain any 'god' would be less than concerned about number of piercings on someone over .... say..... war, famine, etc. ;)
True, but he does comment on the importance of caring for family as well....remember his final words regarding his mother while being crucified. Also, Jewish law/culture was big on family
What watchtower printed about Revelation the 22nd chapter there when it says not to add or take away, what they’re trying to do is to steal the authority of the inspired word of God when they themselves tell us their writings are not inspired of God, but they take the liberty to put their words and teachings as being the equivalent of the inspired word of God. That is the act of an “evil slave” and as a matter of fact that very verse tells such anointed Christians they’re going to lose out if they do it. What they’re doing is pure evil incarnate, who are they imitating are they obedient and loyal to their creator Jehovah God who wrote the Bible or are they lying and thieving from God putting themselves in the authority of the Bible itself, kind of like Satan quoting and twisting the Scriptures to trick Jesus, see the connection? PS. Another good one from the Governing Body is the perverted statement; “we need to keep up with Jehovah’s on the move chariot” and they use this to twist it into creating new rules and regulations and new light which they use to protect themselves and do what they want under the disguise of being backed by the biblical authority of God‘s word, which is an utter misleading deception. You can read about these demigods in 2 Thessalonians chapter 2.
They have openly put themselves over the God they worship. They want the world to believe that mankind needs them to explain anything in the Bible.....and only their Bible, which has been blatantly doctored to support their teachings

There is a magical moment that happens in the womb. Spirit enters matter in a singularly unique way. The Holy of Holies is symbolic of that very mystery but no one talks about that. Literally all about sex the whole tabernacle, altar, pillars, curtain etc. The hateful 8 know this symbolism and happily bury its meaning along with the power of the female.

Can someone point me to what Watchtower source it is where the GB is autographing Bibles? I hear about it, but it seems too farfetched to be true. Yet, Watchtower has also amazed me at how bizzare and culty it is. So it also could be true.
It's in the May 15th, 1999 Watchtower, a photograph and it's featured above in the video tile for reference.....the Governing Body, autographing Bibles... also can be found on the podcast Instagram page
In Watchtower study article 29; "support our overseers" paragraphs 9&10. Paragraph 9 explains Mathew 24:45-47 that in the last days, Jesus would appoint A "Faithful Slave" paragraph 10 explains all the publications provided by that Faithful Slave in 1919, buy the Governing body was not in existence In 1919? 😳 so how can we rightly say these 8 men are the Faithful Slave? Since they did not exist in 1919! So tge Faithful Slave, small group has to be the 144,000 anointed one's resurrected and serving either Jesus our King in heaven. Explains why the original Harp of God book was full of lies!
All fabricated, man made lies; mostly created by Fred Franz under Judge Joe's leadership. The Governing Body didn't even exist until the 1970's and it's a term found NOWHERE in the Bible. As for Matthew 24...they've done an incredible job of getting thinking people to believe a PARABLE is somehow a prophecy!! Fairy tales have more weight...
They are the mediators to God so of course they’ve got the unmitigated gall to autograph the Bible. Their own literature says Jesus is only the mediator to the anointed and it’s impossible to have a relationship with Jesus without them. Once you understand that all this blasphemy makes sense. This is a business enhanced by free labour.
Stacy can you do a video on your experiences dealing with Jws married to non believers. I was married to a Jws for 21 years. She left me for a another jw and he left his jw wife. They eventually married.
😞 I'm so sorry to read about what you've been through. Yes, I can touch on this subject. It's a very interesting one and many women marry unbelieving men, etc. I'm so sorry to see this :(
Is there ANY non men-made organisation on earth?? and to go further, isn t the whole Bible men-made? our JW “knowledge” was biased, we did not learn about the real writers and the time of writing of the Bible books. And: aren t the gods man-made? but of course I agree with you: JWorg is definitively man made!
@@survivingparadisepodcast As long as you maintain the hypothesis of YHWH the only God inspiring the Bible and sending his Son to earth…believing JWs will find objections to your reasoning. Example: you are surprised that God chose Russell then Rutherford and his acolytes, but you will be told: the first disciples and apostles were illiterate fishermen. Perhaps Peter had a speaking skill comparable to Tony or Sam. God did not choose a Hellenizing scholar. In fact many of your arguments also turn against Christianity or Judaism. Except that if you shout it too loud… you will lose half of your American followers :)
You know what use to get me in the watchtower study is like a paragraph would say something like Jesus must be thinking and I use to think what ?? You know what Jesus might be thinking but we are so brainwash we sat there and adhere to every word yet that scripture at 2nd Timothy 3 16 is one that is widely use in the ministry that we should be applying to ourselves don't know if I quote the right scripture
We are the same person! You should have seen me conducting the book study in the Revelation Climax book. I openly made fun of it! Our group would sit around laughing at that book....I should have known then I was leaving. It's just absurd how they do that!

Please make your podcasts as long as they have to be so that you exhaust all your thoughts on each topic without keeping an eye on the length. We can all turn off if we want to, we have a choice in that. We don't have the opportunity or choice to listen to you fully if you shorten your videos when there is room for more comment. The GB signing gift Bibles does not really bother me. I have done this (writing a message and adding my signature) with the Bible and many other books (metaphysics, philosophy, cosmology, science, etc.), none of which I authored. Having said that, there are MANY other things the GB does and say that I find unpalatable (whole gamut from being annoying to being dead wrong (does not follow “what’s written”) or worse evil ( CSA) or blasphemous. I’m glad I left (PIMO at age 16, POMO at 28). Thanks for your activism!
The organization is a culturally cooperated man made structural system that goes beyond the scriptures, and judges everyone’s spirituality based on that structural system. Just by doing this alone, among many other things, they stray from God, Jesus and the Bible… and follow themselves while requiring members to follow them. Which is what Jesus warned his followers about. There was never given any exception or free pass to any man, or future group of men, to overstep the Bible. What the GB and this organization has done with this and many other things on so many different levels over the decades to this day is simply, blasphemous!
YES!! JW's live under an umbrella of man made rules; none of which are found in the Bible. It's very sad and .....insane! It causes a lifetime of unhappiness
Everytime you said 8 guys from up state New York I laughed, because thats all they are its nothing special about them. Out of all places in the world Jehovah allegedly choose 8 old men in New York.. smh. Pleass do a part 2 episode of the 8 guys from up state new york! 🤣
Always enjoy your humorous but obviously logical development of what is happening in today's organization of JW's. But I would suggest you re-analyze your comments about God's name not present in the older manuscripts. From the 3rd century or so on; yes you're right. As the corrupted form of apostate Christianity began to substitute the tetragrammaton (Hebrew letters for God's name) for titles like "kyrios" or Lord, and "God", (the'os) in Greek. And very old copies of the Greek Septuagint have been found which date to the first century; and they contain the divine name YHWH in the 237 locations found in the Greek scriptures originally. See the brochure, "The Divine Name that will Endure Forever", published by the Watchtower Society in 1984; pages 23-27 for starters. Many of the first century Roman and Christian historians as well as other manuscript scholars are referenced there for folks to consider. Also, "Insight on the Scriptures", volume 2, pgs. 10-12 for starters.
Thanks Connor, great stuff and you're clearly a deep thinker. I appreciate the references, but have you looked into the history of 'The Divine Name That Will Endure Forever?"..... very controversial. Scholars have strong feelings about whether the name was used in ancient manuscripts....I'll take another look, but would encourage you to do so too.....very interesting history!
Can Jehovah gives us the remaining books yet to be found of the bible instead of leaving us the ones chosen by the Vatican? Very good point Ookla!!
LOL.....yeah it was in the skyline! Thanks for the update on the pinatas. It's insane. MaCallan is very.....very good ;)
I remembered the 70s when we were condemned for having Rock or any kind of posters on our walls, especially Autographed!

LOL, nice job on the acronym....yep, they somehow feel like they have the right to autograph the Bible. I still cant' wrap my head around it
@@survivingparadisepodcast I can't take credit for the acronym .. it was in fact Geoffey Jackson himself that called the Govening body Guardians of doctrine in his testimony at the Australian Royal Commission.
@@anniesavedbygrace His entire testimony on the stand in Australia is one of the most damning, hideous lies I've ever seen. Most JW"s don't even know about it....and the Governing Body literally sits there and lies on the stand. Not to mention how utterly unimpressive he was as a 'teacher' or speaker
i could never understand the 144.000 thing. no one could ever make it make since.
It's truly absurd. While everything else in Revelation is symbolic, they want us to believe this number is literal.
The stunning incompetence they roll out is incredible. Within centimeters of each other. That scripture alone destroys the entire religion!

The Bible has a bit to say about piercings: (From the NWT)
Gen 24:22 When the camels had finished drinking, the man took out for her a gold nose ring weighing a half shekel and two bracelets of gold weighing ten shekels, 23 and he said: “Please tell me, whose daughter are you?
Fine flour, honey, and oil were what you ate, and you grew to be extremely beautiful, and you became fit to be a queen."
Deuteronomy 15:16 “But if he says to you, ‘I will not go out from your company!’ because he loves you and your household, since he has been happy while with you, 16 you should then take an awl and put it through his ear into the door, and he will become your slave for life. You should do the same with your slave girl
The one in Ezekiel is especially interesting to me since it's God himself talking about a nose ring in a positive light
It sure does Redfox, thank you. Good references! My comment was more to the modern day 'rules' of not having multiple piercings, where to pierce on your body, etc. These are all arbitrary opinions the Bible does not comment on, therefore, 'going beyond what is written'....and I'm fairly certain any 'god' would be less than concerned about number of piercings on someone over .... say..... war, famine, etc. ;)
Jesus did not tell men to care for their family, but to leave wife and children to follow him and his gang.
True, but he does comment on the importance of caring for family as well....remember his final words regarding his mother while being crucified. Also, Jewish law/culture was big on family
Jesus wasn’t a real person 😐
@@krissykatportal I agree Krissy...or at best, was a charismatic Jewish rebel. But I tend to believe he didn't exist or is highly embellished upon.

@@survivingparadisepodcast 👍 well yes they are a blatantly obvious travesty.
