This is a cover of the original by Jimmy Nelson on the RPM/Modern label. RPM was based in Los Angeles, King was based in Cincinnati. I was reminded of this song a few years ago when I was at a musical event, and one of the guest singers was wearing a "clingy" black dress. After the show I told her about the song and she asked, "Who recorded it?" When I said, "A number of artists" she said, "Oh, it's like a standard" "Yeah, you might say that" Then she said, "how about meet me with my black dress off?" (no, I didn't take her up on that suggestion.
