using your own blood for layout fluid has got to be the toughest thing I've ever seen; stuff of legends!

@rjk The whole point is to see just how hard it would be to use period techniques and materials. Doing it all with modern machines and materials way would be much easier - and wouldn't be visible either. But that defeats the intent of the exercise.

To build the stunning Antikythera machine you used modern machines, engineering brass stock metals and drills with steel that I am sure weren't available to the ancient
artisans. How the hell did they do it and how many did they make?? And modify?? Clickspring is magic and you are a magician! Many thanks!! :-]

I'm not sure how UA-cam's algorithm knew to recommend this, considering there's probably not too many people who know what the Antikythera mechanism is, and I also happen to be writing on the necessity of 'doing the work' as part of any valid exploratory exercise. Watching this made me very happy lol

My sense is that TV is now a failed platform due to the "Media Moguls" of the last century kidding themselves that most of the world's population (i.e.viewers) were stupid, had no curiosity to learn skills, and had little interest in reality.
Very little has changed, as the focus becomes more political, sensationalist or searching for fashionable trends.

My friend who is a programmer like I am put me onto these videos.
There are such similarities with this kind of work and software development. Maths, geometry, tool making, exact mechanisms, solving interesting problems with no immediate answer are commonalities between each profession.

Whoa, this is one of the coolest videos I've ever seen. The Copper Sulfate method (on steel) was like watching magic. I wonder if this is how the myths about lead into gold and Midas got started.

Yeah, that (the copper sulfate) was a particularly beautiful process.

Quandry: Wants more Clickspring videos because of the amazing quality and skills involved. More frequent uploads would mean less time making Clickspring videos of such high quality. Accepts upload rate because you can't rush art.
I want more videos because they are awesome. They are awesome because of the time and care that go into each one.

It's hard to imagine a higher quality series of videos than this. Everything about it - content, sound balance, music, camerawork, narration, lighting, pace - is brilliant.
I'm currently watching the whole series for the third time. It never gets tired, Chris. :-)
