The PERFECT place for a Denver Day Hike | Golden Gate Canyon State Park

Golden Canyon State Park is a great spot for a Denver day hike. The park is located about an hours drive from downtown Denver on Colorado Highway 67.
Golden Gate Canyon State Park charges a fee to enter. The entrance fee per vehicle is $10. You can pay at the visitor center located at the entrance of the park.
There are many trail options in Golden Gate Canyon park, we did the horseshoe trail to frazier meadow trail loop which wasn't too far from the main entrance. The 4 mile trail ascends up through a beautiful forested canyon, with plenty of shade. It eventually branches off into a loop that you can take in either direction. The trail will then take you through a mountain top meadow and Aspen groves before heading back down to the parking lot. The trail is also very well maintained and dog friendly.
