Thanks for sharing. I curiously searched for her full name and her website popped up immediately. I looked through her credentials and did my due diligence before contacting her.
You are bringing up an important issue for those Americans living "permanently" abroad: the US address for banking, vehicle registration, driver license, income tax, and Medicare purposes. Coming spring, when we leave California for good, we'll have to register a vehicle. I thought about South Dakota, as they do not have any vehicle tech nor smog inspection, and they allow folks to do all of this online, which is a big bonus. We have all our retirement accounts with E*Trade but recently opened a Schwab account for (1) the ATM-fee free Debit card and (2) future banking needs when we say goodbye to our local California bank. South Dakota also doesn't have a state income tax, so this all sounds great, except . . . the Medicare part. Right now, I have a Medicare Advantage plan with $0 per month cost, and $151 cash back. Basically, I pay about $18 per month, total. But my plan is local, and should anything happen in Mexico requiring me to travel to the states (new kidney, heart, or brain), wouldn't I have to travel to South Dakota for this? That kind of is a deal breaker, making Texas a bit more attractive.
Thanks for watching and commenting. Will you be keeping your vehicle when you "permanently" move abroad? Are you specifically going to move to Mexico? We sold our vehicle when we moved to Mexico because they won't let you keep a USA plated car as permanent residents. Texas also doesn't have state income tax, so that's a plus. I can't help you with the medicare questions because we use Medicare and Tri-Care for Life when in the states, but here we only use Tri-Care Overseas. If we have a major event, ie. heart attack, kidney issue, we would have to pay out-of-pocket and then file a claim with Tri-Care Overseas. (One reason to have an "emergency fund" ie. a credit card with a high limit.). I wouldn't want to travel back to Texas or South Dakota in an emergency. Good luck with your plans. Enjoy your day!
@@RetiredLifeMexico . . . we specifically chose RT because we want to travel to Mexico with our "stuff" and dog and then all through Mexico with our US plated car. About a year later, when we've found the perfect spot for us, we'll buy a house and a Mexican plated car and return the US plated car to the US and sell it there.
Sounds like a great plan! We have been traveling around Mexico for the past 2 years, mostly inland during the winter. So far I really like Guanajuato City the best. But, there is much more to explore. I don't think we can decide very quickly where we want to stay permanently. We've got nomad genes :)
Yes you can with Escapees. You have to create an official domicile there. We went to their offices in Livingston, Texas and we were able to get our vehicle registered, our voters registration, and our driver's license. The nice thing is that when our driver's license needed to be renewed we did it all online. We'll pick them up when we show up to vote at the end of October. They have all the information on their website at Escapees.com. You can also call them and a person will actually pick up the phone and be happy to help!
Retirement isn’t an end goal, but a journey best secured by careful and consistent investments.
Retirement is the reward of disciplined investing over the long term, not just a destination.
My adviser guided me through retirement planning, ensuring my investments were strategically positioned for long-term rewards.
Mind if I ask you to recommend this particular coach you using their service? Seems you've figured it all out.
Nicole Anastasia Plumlee can't divulge much... Most likely, the internet should have her basic info, you can research if you like.

Howdy neighbor! So fun. We are going to Livingston next week to vote...we could vote absentee but we want to make sure our vote counts.

Was curious if you can use Traveling Mailbox or Escapees as an address for your state Driver's License? Thanks
