I met David backstage in the bar interval of a theatre play he was in..it was around this time of his life. Very humble and warm, no problem having his picture taken with me. I am gutted today, R.I.P David 🙏💔. My first t.v crush
I'm 57 years old and I also met David Soul. I bought my first single 'Don't Give Up On Us' back in 1976 and 'Silver Lady' in 1977. Both worldwide hits! In the late 90's I got to see him at a very small concert in Northampton UK. It was a great night and after David was signing autographs. I remember I said I was a big fan and he said ''well introduce yourself'' which I did and then I showed him my records that I'd bought back in the day. He was taken back that I'd kept them so long and that they were the first two records that I'd ever bought. He was so kind and signed them both. May you Rest In Peace David Soul you still are one of my heroes. God bless you.
David Soul was a handsome, superb, unique, singer/songwriter, actor/director, humanitarian. He left us with a beautiful legacy both as a musician & an actor. GOD BLESS YOU ALWAYS DAVID SOUL! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Yeah, he NAILS IT in that movie, acting with an apex actor, James Mason, he strikes the perfect balance of wholesomeness, fearfulness, strength, warmth and determination to destroy the evil. And in, _Magnum Force_ he _is_ the evil, a fucked-up cop. Soul was a decent, humble guy, handsome, warm, realistic, pragmatic. Great voice, a real voice, not a super-slick voice, but a warm, real voice, it makes you feel good, like John Denver's, that from-the-heart American voice, corny maybe, but we need to bring back corniness in these super-serious, DEADLY-serious times. Happy trails, Sou-man!
@@UXB-p5u because Salem's Lot is fabulous and has a massive fan-base, as does Starsky and Hutch and I've heard David go on about that particular program often enough, but not Salem's Lot. I just find it odd. Salem's lot got very high ratings when it was first shown in the US in 1979, and when it was first broadcast in the UK in 1981 it also got very high ratings. Yet, David Soul rarley, if ever mentioned it. So you don't find that odd ? 🤔
@@UXB-p5u I think he means that he loves the performance and that it isn't seen as a beautiful performance! God hold David Soul, a nice man who was kind and made us feel good! God bless!
When I was a boy watching Starsky and Hutch on TV, David Soul looked quite a rough guy for me. Now when I am old man looking at David he was a humble man. Sad he has gone from we all.
I met him two times with my girlfriend at the time he was so nice he talk to people out side the theatre he just let my girlfriend Hugged him for a fair few minutes then he walk to the pub down the road
Always good to see him as officer John Davis in 1973's Magnum Force with Clint Eastwood as well. You can see the potential there too. Always loved the Dirty Harry films and like so many of us guys in our sixties Starsky and Hutch was essential viewing. Miss those days. Great times. RIP David Soul.
My sister & I as young girls used to beg our parents to stay up & watch Starsky & Hutch & they usually allowed us to.... gutted that David Soul has passed, so sad & feels like the ending of an era 😢❤
Very nice interview, David. You say what you feel & mean. You stand up for your rights, freedom & country. I am the same way. Miss you & Paul very much. Don't give up on your fans!!❤️❤️🙏🙏God Bless!!
I never really rated Wogan as an interviewer......I'm 57 years old and I also met David Soul. I bought my first single 'Don't Give Up On Us Baby' back in 1976 and 'Silver Lady' in 1977. He had to survive all the perverts in Hollywood. They took advantage of him and many others. Special place in hell for them. I loved his voice and his acting. Gorgeous man. RIP
I wondered how long before wogan put the boot in ! 4.44 ! he was good at that catching people of gaurd when their in the middle of a positive sentence by throwing in a negative question ! wogan wasn't just there to listen to how wonderful his guests lives were going ! he was just as curious as to what went wrong in his guests lives ! He obviously made David uncomfortabe at that moment as he did not see that coming ! thankfully David ever the Pro chose to remain unfazed ! r.i.p. both !
Yeah I thought that too , Wogan got a little too close to the bone at that point and also seem to cut him off mid sentence too at the end but luckily David's a easy going humble guy .

You clearly know nothing about journalism or conducting an interview. Would you have preferred that he do nine minutes other than fluffy crap where the viewer learns absolutely nothing about David?

Wogan was right though...David didnt really pick great projects. S and Hutch made him a star and he was flavour of the month but he didnt quite make it. Bless him, he wanted so much and had a true heart it seems,
No he wasn’t. He asked questions which give the viewer more of an insight into David’s life. What would you have preferred? That David was asked the same questions for the millionth time? What good would that be?
