Thanks for another insight JB! How did the game of cricket go? I hope you were bowling some chin music at the young ones.

JB which is the most profitable crop .I would assume rice . Sheep would offer the least profit margins and for the work involved. Impressed by the variety of you farming

With the 2 summer crops we grow, it’s pretty line ball. Although corn has higher input costs it doesn’t use as much water. If water costs are high rice probably becomes unviable.
Don’t rule out trade lambs or sheep in general though. They don’t have much in the way of inputs or variable costs. Given how much rain we are having at the moment we have an abundance of grass for them to eat, the trade lambs we have bought I’m expecting a four fold return. As for work load, if they managed well they are pretty easy. I spend a lot more time sitting in a cabin than I do chasing woollies!

Have you ever checked out the Jacky bins ? They are a bit exy but ideal for doing jobs like filling up your urea meter hopper, and way way safer than a bulka bag, plus if they ever get rained on when full its not a big deal. Just a thought , i use them a bit and find them very handy.
