As a mom watching this to help my daughter, I LOVE the comment about her mom's small bladder. She said it so matter-of-factly it made me laugh in a time I'm stress for my daughter going away to school. Thanks!!
Took some notes for myself, so I figured I'd share! Put lids on your bins and label with what's inside •Have one bin for things too big to put a lid on •Roll your clothes for more space, and put in a trash bag rather than a suitcase •Leave everything you can in it's packaging •Carry breakable items yourself. keep them in one package altogether •suitcase and backpack get daily use things (especially moving outfit!) •If you have already opened your laundry hamper, pack things in there too •Don't go to the closest stores by your school, they're probably sold out •Wait to buy anything super inconvenient to move if you can •have a few checklists so you don't forget to bring anything important! •pack the things you don't use daily early on (especially unopened products) •bring water when you move in! •your dorm is probably dirty. Bring cleaning supplies and get cleaning ASAP
I leave for college this Friday, and this made me feel SO MUCH BETTER TO HAVE BINS! My mom also rented a huge van and dolly because my sister is also going off with me (we're twins). Thanks for the tips!
for the trash bags it also works in the other direction too where you poke a hole in the bottom of the bag for the hangers and that way you can tie off at the bottom... both ways works this way I found works better for me with how my dorms were. it differs person to person and form to dorm. in short get your clothes in a bag whichever way the go in it mays un packing so easy.
If you must open your bedding, it’s helpful to have vacuum sealing bags to make things smaller, I did that with my mattress topper and now it’s back to it’s original size when it was delivered.
This seriously helped me so much and opened my eyes to things that I didn't even think of doing. I am going to be a freshman and have been so nervous about what to bring but this put me at ease so thank you!!
I feel like these tips are things other people would think are self explanatory and not even cover them but i’m so happy you did because it’s so helpful and practical!! thank you sm
Lol i live in Canada and it snows in April and rains so much in summer (at least where I live). I need a rain coat, winter coat, light jacket and windbreaker for the first week!
“Wait to bring your winter stuff” me, who is going to college on one of Michigan’s Great Lakes… at orientation when people where asking about the A/C their response was “no we don’t have that the REAL question is if we have heat, and we do AND it works”
One thing I have always done was when moving in I had a bag that had tissue, paper towels, cleaning products, bug spray, soap and etc. handy. It was always one of the most important bags because when moving in things get lost or tossed around and since I have to drive a far distance to go to school I have the tissue and things handy already instead of having them packed and looking around for them. This has always helped me wonders.
Even though I’m already in college I still love watching these videos because it get me excited for the year😂 I remeber packing for my first year of college and being stressed and having everything pack and ready for practically 2 weeks in advance and now I’m like ohhh right I should probably like get my stuff together since I’m moving on tomorrow😂 but I’m moving in at like 1… it’s fine I have tomorrow morning 😂 lol
see, now I'm the exact oposite. I've always been a last minute packer. This year is my sophomore year and I started packing things away starting in the beginning of July this year. What did I do last year? Had my friends come over the night before to pack all my shit.
@@laurenhiggins9197 It really just depends on my mood tbh, this will be my senior year and sometimes I’ll think of something I want to bring and I’ll just put it in the corner of my room and then other times I still just wait until the night before. I’m lucky to only live an hour and 20 minutes from my school so if I forget something it’s really not a big deal because I have my own car and drive home on weekends I’m not busy
I’ve been having a really hard time because I’m in the middle of recruitment and there’s eleven Sorority’s and I had to cut three of them down to eight but I ended up only getting back the three that I cut and only one of the 11 that I actually like so I’m very sad
i have 12 at my school and only got 2 back for round two. they were my bottom 2. i ended up getting rly excited about 1 and that one dropped me for pref. i got a bid from the one i wasn’t excited about but i’m giving it a chance
I agree with the keeping things in the packaging, but you might wanna take out your sheets/ comforter to wash them then you can put them right back. And the mattress topper needs a chance to expand or so you can see if there’s any damages.
im moving into a shared dorm next week. i applied for the medium one but even then it's kinda small. im not sure on measurement so i'll update later. this was really helpful. thanks.
No because I think of the trash bag method as well I was thinking of the cleaners how they wrap the clothes up and plus my stuff would already be on a hanger
My freshman year I brought less tee shirts than I planned on bc you get a TON by attending events!! I’d do a closet inventory and bring things you notice wear a lot, or you’re comfortable in! Hope this helps :)
i start packing this week to leave on the 16th and i hate packing because i always worry i’m gonna forget something. i use totes and bags for everything and it works, but i’m only going into my 2nd year this fall
Great video with some great tips. Just a little info on why some people may have opened their mattress toppers before arriving at college. Some people need to open them and air them out to help reduce the intensity of the chemical smell that can cause some to have bad headaches.
wow, what a great video! I'm a college sophomore but it's my first time forming! thanks for the awesome tips and advice. you're so pretty and sweet, too! :)
Does anyone have any idea how to put up hanging shelf on the wall without putting holes in the wall??? I wanted to put up some faux plants in my dorm room but my shelf keep on falling off the wall
the target close to my house: 10 minutes the target close to my school: an hour "go to the fourth closest target" the fourth closest target: 2 hours away 😭 cries
sorry if you mentioned it in the video, but where did you get your bins? I’m leaving for school in about a week and I’m looking for bins for all of my big stuff that doesn’t fit in old amazon boxes lol
How do students that live too far away to drive to college move all their stuff? Like students who live on the other side of the country or overseas? Taking all of that on a plane is pretty pricey I think.
When you watch this video to procrastinate packing…
Well at least I’m educating myself
yup
Literally me rn I leave tomorrow 😭
No same
The queen of everything college related
I swear
stop you're making me blush aww

pro tip: i always use my suitcase for my winter clothes during the summer and vice versa! minimalism tips are the BEST for college life.
this girl is the physical manifestation of my adhd and anxiety whenever i have to do anything important (i love it we pack the exact same way LOL)

haha when you go to school in New Hampshire and need sweatshirts and warm clothes in the evenings right away.

I love your tip about storing clothes in the hamper to save space when moving.
Thank you for getting straight to the point and not talking for 12 minutes 😂
Keegan is the CEO of everything you need to know for college.
thank you so much for the tips! went to costco today and got those exact bins and they work great and were less than $8 each!
What size are they

I’ve seen collapsible versions of the bins at 2:19 which can easily store in smaller spaces when you’re done!
I see that you use cerave! I love that brand so much!
no one:
keegan: “yeah so my mom has a small bladder bc she had kids”
🤣🤣🤣
Girl this video is a lifesaver! I'm moving in in a couple weeks and watched so many dorm videos but yours is the most helpful
i need this! i'm moving in my dorm in three days and i've barely started oops
omg. when you’re going to a college city for college and yk all the targets and stuff for the next 50 miles will be completely sold out.

Be very honest with yourself for what you bring 😂 if you dont really wear it do not bring it. Bring the stuff you wear constantly
I've never subscribed for a College vlogger until now. You're too cute and sweet! :)

Great College Packing Tips, Keegan!❤️❤️❤️❤️
So I am moving into my dorm and I have a hybrid style bathroom , would that be the same as communal ? And would I have to buy toilet paper ?
Haha when the closest Walmart is 2 hours away 😂
sorry if you mentioned it in the video, but where did you get your bins? I’m leaving for school in about a week and I’m looking for bins for all of my big stuff that doesn’t fit in old amazon boxes lol
Ok bet….now how do I move all of that in one day in my little Honda Civic…by myself because no one is available on my move in day 🤩

How did UA-cam know I need to start thinking about packing for college
This may be a year late but thank you so much cause I’m not a organizer
this was so helpful thank you!!!!
What brand was the large blue suitcase?
I am struggling to pack bc IK I will be home every weekend which is 1~2 hours away
THIS WAS NEEDED
this was so helpful thank you so much
Order online and pick it up when you get to school.
Where did you get that ottoman?!!
I plan on washing my stuff before I go because i don't want to have to pay to wash it when I can do it for free at home
You definitely should! You will likely be very busy and not have time. You will have to pay eventually as clothes get dirty lol
happy senior year girl

okay guys imma jus say this now, don't buy a shit ton of new comforters and bed sheets or mini fridges. save ur money.
