It's called Invisible Differences: a story of asperger's, adulting and living a life in full color, by Julie Dachez and illustrated by Mademoiselle Caroline. I thought the use of color in it as a way to communicate the protagonist's emotions was so interesting and it's not a narrative I had seen in this format before. i'm only halfway through the video but can i just say I had the EXACT same reaction to the island of missing trees and stopped around 40 pages (maybe to pick it up eventually). I was having terrible brain fog when I tried to read it and was feeling particularly moody and I just remember it making me feel very weird (and I usually absolutely adore magical realism set in warm non-western countries - one hundred years of solitude and midnights children are two of my favorite books). This is making me feel so much better about deciding to put it down for now! I'm glad I'm not the only one who couldn't quite get into it!

It is such a beautifully written book that covers Dara's love of nature, worries about the climate crisis, and growing up with autism.
Paper Girls is my favorite graphic novel series! I almost bought the complete collection yesterday, but didn’t feel like spending $50 😮💨 next time! I want this shirt so bad! really glad the pre orders go for a month! 💕 🐌

I read the Book of Form and Emptiness after it got recommended to me in my TBR Subscription and it sounded so good... but I really disliked it. I felt like many of the characters were just archetypes and not actual people, and the author was trying to "get us to see their humanity" while not actually treating them as humans... and I thought the ending was so.. blahhhh... Super curious to hear your thoughts when you get around to reading it because I know lots of people loved it!

I agree with the fact women/AFAB would get diagnosed late with Autism or ADHD. I got diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 27. I'm 29 now and considering getting checked for Autism. I added some of these books to my TBR. 🥰 Lastly, I love your frog tattoo! 🐸

I love how you describe not being able to use your brain. I have that sensation quite a bit. I was diagnosed autistic at 36. When I told my mom about the diagnosis, re reflected on my struggles growing up. We both agree that things finally made sense.
Clementine is from the walking dead games which are so good!!! I’ve never actually seen the show walking dead but paying the game completely fall in love with Clementine. If you like the graphic novel you should play it :)

I love Fernanda Melchor! She is seriously one of the best writers from this generation. Her book Hurricane Season is one of the best I’ve read in my entire life, and she’s a damn good journalist as well (her collection of journalistic reports ‘Aquí no es Miami’ is great as well).

They were so good - almost like interactive novels/movies. Ally, I read Nimona because of you and that hooked me on graphic novels. I read a few but recently I s read Lightfall by Tim Probert and I feel like you’d really enjoy it. It builds a beautiful and well thought out world with great characters, an enticing adventure, representation about feeling and dealing with anxiety, and the art is so beautiful :)
