I've been working on a logo that I want to have these wavy, ribbon-like movements and I was having so much trouble getting it right. This tutorial really saved me, thank you so much! And yeah, I had a bit of trouble with Map Art in AI 2025, but then I also found the Extrude & Bevel (Classic) option and everything worked from there.
Took me 2 hours to recreate because the Map tool is no longer the same in the new version of Illustrator, and the ungrouping and releasing of clipping masks are difficult to follow (why are there 2 copies of the ribbon and why are there clipping masks?!), but I do love the results. Would be nice if you could add a note on what you're selecting or explain things a bit.
Could you by any chance make a 2022 updated tutorial? The extrude and bevel tool is so much different and I cant get the symbol to fit to scale and everything looks wonky and uneven
I can't find the map art tool !! Does anyone know how I can find it?
If you are using 2022 version:Effect>3D and Materials>Extrude&Bevel>Materials >graphics 😊
You can also click on the 3d effect and go down to classic extrude and bevel. Ive had to use it for other tutorials.
