I have a baritone ukulele and this is the first song I've worked on so far and it's very short but also a very good song. You never realize the actual length of a song until you start to sing and/or play it.
Thank you so much for this! My baritone uke should be here this week, and this is going to be one of the first songs I learn to play. I’ve noodled at piano/keyboards off and on since a keyboard class in high school, but was always intimidated by learning stringed instruments. I’m 48 now, and a recent medical scare has convinced me to start doing the things I’ve always wanted to do, so I’m determined to learn, and I’m loving your videos!
Bar the first fret with your index finger and then place the middle and ring finger on the next two notes. Makes it easier than just trying to bar the first fret on the B and E string.
Try the alternative f chord first finger on the first fret of E string then 2nd on G string and 3rd on C string. I struggled alot with chords and or switches between them due to small hands short fingers. Chord alternatives like this helped me this is officially D minor but will work as the alternative for F
Hello, Angel here from the Netherlands. I have so much fun playing the uke . The barritone as well as the tenor as the concert uke. Thanks to you and your UA-cam lessons. I never thought I was able to play music. Now my life is one big song with different chords. But so fulfilling. Does that make sense? I have become a happy person singing all the time. Even at night when I wake up. So again: thank you.
This is a phenomenally clear and informative lesson, to the point that you've made it look like everyone should be able to create this type of lesson for every song. Thanks!
I love this song and I have a soprano voice so I bought a ukulele f or my nonprofit school for music I'm building and what better way way to learn a song than to be able to alter the chords to make a vocal range fit for a classic song like this that every generation remembers
Thanks Kevin, for another great tutorial! Never really paid attention to this song before but now learning to play it with you and your lovely voice, makes me love it and Gosh, it makes me miss the great John Denver! Please keep those tutorials coming! I'm 65 and just recently got a Baritone, I'm not good but, hey, just following your tutorials makes me feel good! Please don't stop making them!
Rock on, Christine. Thanks so much for learning with me! If you're looking for more learning resources including song sheets/tabs, lesson exercises, practice tracks and dedicated play alongs, drop by the AllForUke website and have a look around. All the best - Kevin | Allforuke.com
@@AllForUke Thank you, I have signed in to your website but I am not yet a patreon. I'm thinking about it though! Thanks again for your devoted time to us, learners of all ages!
Ugh...I have such a hard time deciding...ukulele, baritone, guitarlele or guitar?? It seems I always come back to the baritone. Sounds great and only 4 strings. 😀 Thanks for the great tutorial. Would love more!
Beautiful singing! I heard both the tenor and baritone versions.. From my listening perspective, in the baritone one the voice dominates while in tenor one the ukulele slightly overwhelms. Don't know if others or you feel the same way!
Your voice made me melt. Makes me wanna do a duet with you. Ive been wanting to get a Baritone Uke for my lower register voice and this video made me sure about my decision
That was fun and sounded great. I followed along with two other people and then decided to try your video. I literally purchased a uke earlier this evening. They had two left. I'm glad I didn't leave without one. Totally loved your tutorial even though I tried different strumming I began to learn the chords (learned a little guitar) which is something I really need.
Kevin I've emailed you regarding your uke site asking if there are many lessons for baritone ukes as I've just bought one and wanted to subscribe to a site where there are plenty of baritone lessons. Many thanks
Hey, that’s awesome. Heh, heh I still can’t play a D or an F chord properly but I can fake it so I’ll give this a try. It’s been a while and best wishes. MikeinMinnesota
I'm still waiting for my ukulele to arrive, but what I noticed from your chord charts is that they're just like the bottom 4 strings of a guitar, which I have some experience with, so that should help a lot.
Most welcome 😊 If you'd like to dive into more learning resources, drop by the AllForUke site where we have free worksheets, practice tracks and song sheets to compliment our videos. Thanks so much for learning with me! - Kevin | AllForUke.com/lessons
Thank you for your great tutorial. Fantastic song. Looking at the UA-cam thumbnails of baritone uke players, I noticed that nearly all of the men have beards. Pourquoi?
I am considering buying a Baritone. Since the strings are tuned differently than the other smaller UKes, How do you know which key to play when others are playing a different chord; ie. if a piece is in G what key do I play the Baritone?
A baritone is tuned exactly like the top (higher pitched) 4 strings of a guitar. DGBE. So if the uke group is playing their G chord, you would play your D chord. Every chord they play you drop down 4 notes on the scale. Count the G as the first note and go down. G-F-E-D, D-C-B-A, and so forth
It is tuned DGBE. The chord shapes will be the same, however the chords will have different names. You should check out some of my baritone videos and see if it interests you. Thanks for watching - Kevin | allforuke.com
Hi, Kevin. Whow are you? I'm thinking in use one of your arranjement for the Barítono in a solo presenteition in a ukuleles group tha i belong gere in Brazil
Don’t know if anyone else mentioned this, but IZ did a version of this song but changed the lyrics to be about Hawaii, so his version is even more appropriate for the uke.
It is how you'd play an Bb on a regular uke. Given the baritone is 5 semitones lower, that's how you do a F. Makes sense when you play it. Seems odd to start with, but is logical.

You seemed to switch from the slow strumming demo to much faster when you played the song. That was not helpful. I think you need to break it down more and then show us how to speed up.
I'll keep that in mind for future lessons. Thanks for the feedback! If you're looking for more learning resources including song sheets/tabs, lesson exercises, practice tracks and dedicated play alongs, drop by the AllForUke website and have a look around. All the best - Kevin | Allforuke.com
I felt the same way, kinda got pissed off but realize hes giving out a free lesson so. My main gripe is not telling us when notes are one measure or two measures but at the end of the day we can use our ears and it just takes a little more work. You also don't inform of of the ending notes but again i guess we can just look. Played with the video about a hundred times before it started clicking.

u can do it
i don’t have a baritone ukulele yet so i came here strictly for the singing 👏🏽
I've enjoyed a few of your lessons, and am just blown away by your voice first time I'm hearing it!
I'm still strugglin with the F chord, but there is only one in this one 😊 You're a super teacher, thanks for uploading 🙏
I also really struggle with the F chord. I immediately cringe whenever I see it lol. 🙋🏻♀️
Stick with the F, I too am struggling but slowly improving, practice loads!

any tips for getting the strum pattern down?
Oliv er. Newton John blue eyes crying in the rain
I joined your paid site yesterday. How many baritone songs do you have on your paid site? And are they organized by difficulty?
I am considering buying a Baritone. Since the strings are tuned differently than the other smaller UKes, How do you know which key to play when others are playing a different chord; ie. if a piece is in G what key do I play the Baritone?

How do you tune a baritone ukulele? I already own two ukuleles but am interested in learning how to play the baritone and thinking of buying one.

I love the Kala but cannot afford to pay much more than $150 for a Baritone....any thoughts about where else to find one whose sound wont dissapoint?
I mean herre in Brazil..
Do i have your permission, pleasy?
Can anyone tell me why my uke is humming. I am new to playing so I got a Kmise. Is it the uke or me ?
😮❤️
oh my god, the F-Chord, that is the hardest, I cant play that
Perseverance my friend :)
👏🏻👏🏻👍👍🙏🏻🙏🏻💞
Don’t know if anyone else mentioned this, but IZ did a version of this song but changed the lyrics to be about Hawaii, so his version is even more appropriate for the uke.
Still can't Barre
I can’t do the f chord
There’s no reason no to barre the whole first Fret for the F.
It is how you'd play an Bb on a regular uke. Given the baritone is 5 semitones lower, that's how you do a F. Makes sense when you play it. Seems odd to start with, but is logical.
Dang this was really cool until I tried to play it with the actual song

Why do you call a 4 string Guitar a Baritone ukulele.?????
It's called that way because it's in the same tuning as a guitar.
