2024 Ocean & Coastal Youth Ambassadors Summit - Student Project Highlights

The second phase of the OCYA Summit hosted by the Boys & Girls Clubs of American Samoa (BGCAS) united 150 youth and adults in an effort to empower young people with knowledge and skills needed to launch ocean and coastal conservation and preservation projects in our community while working alongside their peers, and networking with marine and coastal conservation professionals. To help support these projects, BGCAS awarded each participating school a micro-grant in the amount of $1,500.00. Using the "Think, Learn, Create" (TLC) program model, projects and activities in the summit are aimed at developing an ethic amongst young people of conservation and protection of natural resources in the Pacific Islands region.
