Well done. Folks if you can't lift the hood and see what he did. DON'T try this job. Your vehicle may never move again until you pay a mechanic way more than in the beginning
Honda odyssey 2008 does not have it. It's inside the transmission casing. In order to replace it you'll have to take down the whole transmission down & open it. Just change your ATF your transmission will be happy. Happy holidays.
This is helpful but it could have been a lot better if he started recording from the beginning by identifying the location of the AT filter housing before taking anything apart. Then he could point out the main engine components that need to be removed to access that AT filter housing: battery, battery tray, air filter housing, air intake hose, and the ABS/VSA control module. He started with everything already removed, of course, it would be easy. He could have shown the parts that he put back, at least people have a chance to see what he had to take off previously. One big mistake he made was to fill and check the ATF when the car was not even started. You cannot get an accurate reading of the AT dipstick without the engine running and the AT in gear to get the ATF warm up. Plus, without the ATF circulates in the entire system, the reading he did was just the ATF he dumped into the AT drain pan. I would not be surprised if he needs another 1/4 Qt. after the started it up and run through the gears. The AT filter he pulled out from the AT was dirty indicating that his car AT may not have been serviced per maintenance schedule. This car could use more ATF changes in it life time because the AT filter should be in pinkish color, not black.
If you can't identify what he's looking at after he already took it apart, you probably shouldn't be doing this anyway. AND you ARE supposed to check fluid level with engine/transmission hot and OFF. Look it up.
One of the main reasons transmission won't last as they should, is because people never service it! The only time people will be concerned about their transmission is once it's failing! Yes 👍 you should change its filter if you haven't done!
@@lunasautogarage9643 If this transmission has never changed the transmission oil Then are you telling me to change the filter ???? Will NOT cause any problem?
Rafael Chicuate most likely it came apart but at least there should be some debris left ( outer gasket?) I’m not sure what you’ve found inside the housing! Let me know if I can help ?
Is not the same! I don't think on models 2007-2009 are serviceable! If you want your transmission last longer & shift smooth change the ATF at least every two years or depending on your driving! Most people never change the ATF on their vehicles! It's an easy procedure that can save people lots of money! 😉
Suerte!
Nope, this only works on the 05 and 06, on the 07-10 model the transmission design was changed and the filter was moved to an inaccessible location inside the transmission where it can only be replaced during a rebuild.
@@1painter4hire Correct the filter is not accessible, Also I believe the drain bolt on the 05-06 is face the drivers side, where on the 07-10 it faces the passenger side so to losen the drain bolt on an 07-10 you must turn you ratchet/bar pulling towards the front of the vehicle whereas it's the opposite way on the 05-06 since the drain bolt is on the opposite side of the transmission case.
The thing is that about these transmissions I heard that the filter was inside the case thus inaccessible. Maybe that was a different Honda transmission.
The filter itself is inside the transmission Sir! It's accessible but as I tried to show you guys in order to replace it you have to go through this process! It's tedious but double!
Yep, it's only accessible on the 05-06, 07-10 use a different design of transmission where the filter is actually inside the transmission in such a way that it can only be accessed if you're stripping the transmission to rebuild it.
There are 2 filters on the 05-06.. The main filter is inside the transmission, and you do have to remove and tear apart the transmission to access it.. The 2nd, smaller filter in this video is an external filter, in a housing.. Still good to change it, but the main one can not be simply changed.
Why is that? Most I've seen are gummed up and falling apart. Why wouldn't you want a new one with a atf change? I understand they say it's a lifetime filter, but is that really the case
Mr Luna's AutoGarage. What years is the Honda Odyssey you worked on? It is 2006? Not all Honda Odyssey has this kind of filter. By the way, Transmission Fluid is not Transmission oil. You should change the name of this video. It is OK. We learn English everyday. Don't give up learning English.
Thanks for showing how to change the filter, I will need to do this on my 05.
You're very welcome! It's a tedious job but worth the time ! You'll feel the difference on your transmission, van & ride! 🤗

older Honda model years had a removal filter. newer ones the filter is deep in side the transmission.
Do you have to get the radio code since you disconnected the battery?
Yes. It's located on a sticker inside the glove comparment.
que bien, el video munchas gracias,
Can you give us all the Honda parts number? What is the milesage on this Odyssey? 140,000 milesage?
He showed the part numbers in the video. Pause it and write them down.

Que pasa si meto al revés el filtro la goma para dentro junto con el resorte

Do you flush the oil firts before removing the filter?
Drain the oil block first, tnen put back the bolt back in the block! Then you can remove the filter !
