This time we restored an old kerosene lamp.
A kerosene lamp consists of several parts:
It consists of a cast-iron base, a kerosene tank, a flat wick holder, a regulation wheel, a glass cylinder and a lampshade.
The first thing that lit up since prehistoric times was fire.
Each of us likes the light from the fireplace or from the fire in the garden :)
If we leave aside the various period lighting, we will find that the predecessor of the electric light was the just mentioned kerosene lamp.
Kerosene lamps became widespread in the 19th century.
Polish chemist Jan Józef Ignacy Łukasiewicz is considered the inventor of the kerosene lamp
In 1837, a wickless kerosene lamp with a blower was constructed.
And improvements came in 1855,
and the American Benjamin Silliman was responsible for it.
Today, kerosene lamps belong to the past, we meet them only exceptionally.
We probably shouldn't curse them, because they can still serve us as emergency lighting in the event of a power outage.
And we still have the test of our kerosene lamp :)

It is a component of several acids. I'm buying it ready-made under the name "brass cleaner"
The dry-brush-gold was absolutely what that base needed.
My grandmother had a similar lamp, but it had two clear glass inner parts, and I remember the inner one getting quite black with soot, but it worked when the power went out.

Привет! Отличная лампа, стильная! Восстановлена на 10 баллов! До вас ее кто-то переделывал, похоже, каркас абажура от электрического изделия, видны были обозначения. У меня самого тоже есть под реставрацию керосиновая лампа, доставшееся по наследству от бабушки жены, может зимой руки дойдут. Интересных вам находок под реставрацию! Всем добра!

Vzpomenu si na chalupu, kde jsme si svitili po večerech petrolejami. Jedna zavěšená u stropu v hlavní místnosti.a v pokojích zavěšené na zdi se zrcadlem. Bylo to krásné dětství. Pavel 🇨🇿

Judging from the "40w 250v" on the brass harp, that must have been a later addition to this otherwise wonderful piece.
Yes, I also noticed it when cleaning. I am sorry that not all the original parts of the lamp have been preserved.

Проделана хорошая работа👌👌👌!, но у меня вопрос: зачем восстанавливать ВИНТ, если его можно заменить на новый, так же как и мастику на термоклей? P.S. ведь тогда для аутентичности нужна и мастика для крепления колбы🤔, или я придираюсь🤭

i believe you are the only one who realizes how much more valuable a piece is if you keep as much of the original parts as you can. You repaired and kept the same screw. that , to my thinking, shows respect for the item and the history it represents. I can only imagine the work that was put into that simple screw in the days before mass production. I like how you restore and preserve history.

Yes I agree. I only noticed this during cleaning. I found out that the company also made these lamps in an electric version, but the design was completely identical. Perhaps the previous owner bought this socket as a replacement for the electric version. Thanks Andy :)

10:57 that is wrong, Not Hot Glue. You would use a High Heat Putty. The Glass is Suppose to be Removeable not fixed in place.

Разве что не хватило сравнить как лампа освещает по сравнению с электрическим источником. Но в своё время - это был большой шаг вперёд по яркости освещения по сравнению со свечами

ano, alternativní zdroje nám budou třeba, k svícení louče, kamna na dřevo, šišky a klestí, místo televize budeme koukat do krbu na hořící oheň, což je lepší varianta jako sledovat programy na ČT, staré dobré časy se vrací zpět, to je realita

Мало того, что лампа копеечная, судя по качеству изготовления, и восстановления не заслуживала, так ещё и на латунном кольце "антикварной" лампы красуется надпись 40W 250V - 12:08.
Зря только время потерял. 😞
