    Oh my gosh! THANK YOU for the golden nugget piece of information about the "tool" used with your item for potential Etsy sale upgrade ideas. 💜 I was selling colored pencils to go with my hand-illustrated coloring books as a gift upgrade for a while but stopped out of fear that it would somehow be misleading.... now I can make more sense of the rule and how it would apply here. YOU ARE A GEM, STARLA! Sorry for yelling. 😜

      YES! Glad to hear this too:) I sell charm holders and necklace chains to compliment my hand made charms/pendants. I have always worried that I would have them deactivated as "not Hand Made" My customers buy them constantly along with my jewelry.

      I don't think it is wise. But it is up to you. As this is my experience. As I am a RedBubble user and struggling to gain any profit. As they charge fees on accounts due to account ranking. They have three. I think the third one you have to pay once. Not sure, it is on their website. And you might never reach that third ranking as many people had complaints that they were not getting it. Or the ones they wanted. And if you don't have the audience, forget it. People do visit but not much if you don't advertise. Whether online or social media.
      Also, on top of it, they still charge you for shipping, manufacturing, etc. And then charge your customer like 10 times the amount. Might not use it anymore. And you get like 1.00 from a $20 to $30 dollar charged product. Also, you get 20 dollars to payment once it is the threshold for you to take out money for everything. Not bad, as you get $20 a month or whenever you get it but you cannot get it as the account fee would be minus from the 20 each time you reach it. But at least you get the amount remaining at the end of the year. I was one which remained but alot of people left the platform. And now I know why. Well this is my experience so far. Thanks for my TED talk.

    Starla, quick question: in your opinion, is it true that driving traffic from social media to your Etsy store kills your Etsy store? I watched three videos from Etsy Consultant about this topic and now I am confused

    • @StarlaMoore
      @StarlaMoore  5 місяців тому +2

      He's 110% wrong. Ask him to cite his sources because he cannot.
      I mean, think about it logically. Why would Etsy penalize sellers for advertising their platform? And why would they roll out the share and save program that incentivizes sellers to share their links?
      Externally sourced views of your shop have NO negative impact on you.
      At all. None. Zilch. Zero.
      The overall "conversion rate" you can view in your Etsy stats has NO impact on your shop/rank/etc. What DOES have an impact is conversion from SEARCH on individual listings.
      For example, if I search for "gold necklace" on Etsy and I click YOUR listing, then click OFF that listing, basically it tells Etsy that your listing was not what I was looking for when I searched for "gold necklace". So this can have a slight impact on that SPECIFIC listing for the SPECIFIC query.
      On the flip side, if I search "gold necklace" on Etsy, click YOUR listing, then buy it - this sends positive signals to Etsy because the keywords you used in your listing (gold necklace) resulted in a sale.
      This is one of the most common things that I see miscommunicated by Etsy coaches, influencers, and UA-camrs, and sellers who refuse to advertise their shop because they believe "sharing their link" will hurt them are losing HUGE opportunities! Don't be afraid to advertise your business! There is zero logic behind a penalization of sellers who are advertising on behalf of Etsy.

    Hi Starla, is selling coffee on Etsy allowed ?

    • @StarlaMoore
      @StarlaMoore  5 місяців тому

      Unfortunately, not the Printify POD coffee. It may be allowed if the coffee is your own but I've never really looked into it. I know food can be sold on etsy as long as you're qualified to sell under your local food safety laws. But I'm not sure about coffee.

    I noticed all of my listings has a message in RED that says Update Required when looking on my Listings page. Any idea why they want me to do an update? When I hover over the Update Required, it says " The shipping settings for this listing need a quick update to help show buyers more accurate estimated delivery dates." When I go in the listing, it says my shipping time is between 1 and 6 days. The shipping option I have selected for shipping is 5 to 7 days. So what could they want me to change or update this to? I figured my 5 to 7 days declaration was good enough. - This is dumb.

    • @StarlaMoore
      @StarlaMoore  5 місяців тому

      Yeah, that's an Etsy customer support question. Make sure that there is nothing else that is missing in the shipping setup such as the ship from zip code, etc. Those can also cause that "needs update" message.

    QUESTION is it better to not sell one of a kind items? Is it better to make my items duplicatable? Will Etsy pay more attention to my shop?

    • @StarlaMoore
      @StarlaMoore  5 місяців тому

      Yes, unfortunately. Etsy ranks listings higher each time they sell, which can make it much harder for OOAK sellers. Here's a video I made a few years ago about the challenges of selling OOAK on Etsy: ua-cam.com/video/iry5mVLUnhA/v-deo.htmlsi=Qys4jvk5dsj54Yuk

      Agreed. I hate them right now since they cut my earnings in 1/2 and I make sales every day.

    • @StarlaMoore
      @StarlaMoore  5 місяців тому +2

      Yeah, this is the one downside of RedBubble. I see it like this though: For a platform that you can literally set up, then NEVER log back into, it's money you wouldn't have otherwise. There are no other platforms that you can "set and forget". So even with low margins, for many, it's a decent payoff vs the amount of time investment required.
