I will agree that the coincide of face scans looking way uglier than expected for some games especially “Horizon zero dawn”is insanity. I think if a character is already ugly from the get go fuck it, but why even bother getting a model and altering his or her features to be sub par. MK 11 has most of the female characters look rather beautiful so maybe MK 1 just has a set cast that looks relatively fine we haven’t seen. 👍 People say it’s game and of course IDC, but it’s very interesting how this alteration of characters is becoming more of a pattern. The most popular one I could think of is Abby from the last of us 2. The teaser trailer made her more slim but muscular and it looked good, realistic. The final trailer pretty much showed her as the hulk with a retarded story. The story was already dead but they could have stuck with her original form to lessen the backlash on her. Nobody trust me, would have given a shit if Abby looked realistic. They would have critiqued the story and her character. But, no make her look worst. If you're living under a rock, it's about making female characters even more uglier each generations of games. A move that discourages femininity in female character and embracing masculinity in the name of fighting against the male gaze and toxic masculinity. Not acknowledging that a lot of female audiences, especially lesbians, like looking at pretty yet strong female characters. But hey, at least they're catering to the crowd that will praise their ego but won't buy their game. ... No, seriously, this has been happening for almost/over a decade now. Although, I started noticing this myself when it was around 2016 when Trump got elected as the president... Yeah... Ridiculous story.
The female characters in MK1 are inferior in all respects, they are almost the same, both in terms of appearance and personality. In MK1, all female characters are equally severe, with the exception of Melina when she is in the form of a tarkatan. At the expense of the character design in MK1, it is generally disgusting. For such an exaggerated fantasy as The MK universe would ideally fit the same hyperated design as in 80 tyak cartoons, like Heavy metal for example. The closest to this design was the MK9, in my opinion.
People cared about Tekken since the first game on PS1, fast forward to Tekken 7 and it's one of the top fighting games in the world and is big deal at EVO. And no doubt Tekken 8 will be a success, so no people cared about Tekken way before this video.
I recently left MK for the Tekken series last year. I'm so glad i made that decision. I've now put more time in Tekken 7 than any MK game I've played. Very excited for Tekken 8!!
I think this is a Early in Her Career Ashrah which explains why she Still Looks Demon Like. In Mk Deception Konquest Mode Ashrah Talks Like She has Been Killing Demons For Quite Some Time.
That's possible but I wouldn't put it past NRS if her new design remains the same, seeing how they ruined Tanya, I think Ashrah's design has little to do with lore and was done for "realism" , like many Western devs claim when making certain design choices.
If you really think Tekken 8's characters look blocky then you need to get your eyes examined or you're just talking nonsense and trying to cope with the fact that NRS are destroying the female characters in Mortal Kombat while the Tekken devs are not afraid of making aesthetically pleasing female characters.

Mk1 dosent look like Mk11. The improvements are very big deal. Now if you want to compare realistics then Mortal Kombat even from original MK back in 1993 used real humans for their models and not Barbie dolls like with foot three times bigger than the head. A shaolin Monks sequel would be good, and I feel the same way about how MK 1 looks overall, the designs look bland and boring, women are for the moat part flat chested, have a hard face, and have similar flat physiques while the same can't be said for the male characters.

As a long time MK fan, I think I'm going to skip MK 1. Not really a fan of resetting a new timeline again. They wrap the story well in MK 11. Gameplay looks cool but I'm not digging the new character designs particularly Scorpion & Sub-Zero & female characters like Tanya, Ashrah & Li Mei. Although I'm happy with some of the past fighters being brought back like Mavado, Darrius, Havik (& the rest I mention earlier) but as for story, not really hyping it. Tekken 8 is definitely the one I'm hyping the most. Mainly because of the story because Jun Kazama is returning for the first time in almost 30 years. So many mysteries to uncover like her return to the series & what role she will have in Jin v. Kazuya rivalry. The gameplay looks sick as hell & it's definitely an upgrade from Tekken 7. Plus the character designs look phenomenal (although Paul kinda reminds me from T4 Paul but still looks badass) & female fighters looks feminine, sexy & badass like Nina Williams & Jun Kazama. PS: I always prefer japanese female characters over western anyday of the week. They can be both feminine & amazing at the same time. There's other games with non human and semi human characters that look better than this, also the issue with Ashrah's design is similar to how Tanya looks in MK 1, where her original designs look better. My opinion that you are bothered with is not just how I feel, people in the comments on this video agree and I'm sure there's other videos pointing out Ashrah's new design, her design is also bland on top of purposely being made to look ugly just like Tanya, while Tanya's face scan actress looks pretty. MK probably sold more overall but after Tekken 7 the Tekken series has taken over, and no doubt Tekken 8 will bring the series more success, unlike MK, Tekken doesn't have to do reboots and pre order guest character dlc to help sell the game.

Her design in MK Deception was better, her face wasn't jacked up like it is in MK 1, in Deception she was a demon just like in MK 1, but back then NRS wasn't afraid of aesthetically pleasing female characters and saying in interviews that half naked women fighting is unrealistic but oddly enough the men are still shirtless, in a game series that was never realistic.

Ashra almost convinced me because of her now looking more in between demon and human, but they ended up with another bad design. I would have liked something more like her OG clothing because white robes can be seen as being pure something this character is trying to become. I don't like those designs that look kinda power ranger armour, it's a no no. Her appearance almos nailed it with the idea half demon and half human, but it also looks kind of half woman half girl or boy. NRS yet again decides to flat chest another woman, it just ends up looking weird and bad. Like for real all women I have met have a bigger chest than almost every modren western female characters, only girls have no chest and it's just disturbing for me (it feels uncomfortable). If that wasn't enough the women I've seen with a small chest know how to dress and Ashras costume is not suited for her new small chest and it looks bad. I did like demon Sereena, they could have done something more like it to Ashra and it would have looked better.
Her design could have been better and I agree the robes would have made her stand out more and would have made her more recognizable to people who played Deception and Armageddon. Idk about this one. I think its more down to the design aesthetics they went for at the start of creation. I know that isnt a very good explanation but, I'll use other games as example. I like the aesthetics of DOA 4 more then anything else since. I like the aesthetics of Se%y Beach 2/Artificial academy 2 more then any "recent" illusion games. I like the aesthetics of Soul caliber 2 more then the new ones. I'm thinking western IPs are taking a side step from what jp IPs are doing just to "stand apart", more then pushing an agenda. And yes, I understand how it would (and does) fit the narrative very well, but using my examples, I don't think jp IPs swapping up there aesthetic choices from classic to new (in my examples) was cause for them "pushing an agenda". I'm reaching alot for the excuse of "cultural stylings within video games given the growth of tech/understanding of tech" as I don't know/care about the history of MK beyond MK 1-2-trillogy. Even the aesthetic swap of SF3 to SF4/5 is what I'm getting at. I hate wet clay looking toons, but only now is the tech getting good enough to make them look "better". Even fallout 3-nv has better chr look then wet clay failure 4 (the best example I can give for my "stance"). I could be way off base with this as again, I don't know or care about MK, and looking at that Fable trash and the shyts row reboot is proof enough of it being "forced", but I'm just unsure with MK. That female goro that caused all the tournament issues and out crys was god awful looking, but it was an aesthetic choice within that IPs "realm", so thats kinda what I'm thinking with this case here. No excuse for MK, no pass for MK, just perspective that is admittedly possibly extremely wrong.

I get what you're saying with stylistic choices and how some characters look in certain games, like Fallout 4, in ways Fallout 3 and New Vegas looks better, kina like how Assassin's Creed Unity looks better than Origins (and the other rpg ACs). However, seeing how Tanya was handled and now Ashrah, both characters look worse compared to the past MK games they were in. Female characters got covered up for "realism" yet the men stayed shirtless or showing a lot of skin, in a game that is far from being realistic, and the male characters got b*tched out like Shinok, Shao Kahn, Kotol Kahn, you can look up videos on MK X and 11 to see what I mean. Now with MK 1, they've been showing off a lot of female characters and they seem to play a major role in the story, not saying female characters in past MK games were never important. Li Mei was a secondary character and her ending in Deadly Alliance she dies and in Deception she joins the main antagonist, Onaga and betrays everyone, but now in MK 1 she's being portrayed as an important noble character, I don't think any of this is by coincidence.

I love that not everyone looks like a model or a perfect 10. It's more realistic in a sense, and you would care more about the character rather than just their beauty. For instance, think if Abby was the same character but conventionally beautiful; people wouldn't criticize that harshly. I swear to you, beauty can shield a bad character. While the same character with a different, more realistically structured face is greater. I'd rather have a character with a body that can withstand what she does, rather than a skinny beauty who can somehow fight with a guy 10 times her size. But that's just my opinion, though.
MK is a gore, bloody, dark, violente fighting game and the models are human like evrn from the very first game who was used digitised real actors. Tekken is a non violent fighting game who the models are dolls like Barbie doll complete unrealistic with the reality and even from the very first game the characters had square head. The female characters in MK1 are inferior in all respects, they are almost the same, both in terms of appearance and personality. In MK1, all female characters are equally severe, with the exception of Melina when she is in the form of a tarkatan.
At the expense of the character design in MK1, it is generally disgusting.
For such an exaggerated fantasy as The MK universe would ideally fit the same hyperated design as in 80 tyak cartoons, like Heavy metal for example. The closest to this design was the MK9, in my opinion.

That's possible but I wouldn't put it past NRS if her new design remains the same, seeing how they ruined Tanya, I think Ashrah's design has little to do with lore and was done for "realism" , like many Western devs claim when making certain design choices.

Mk1 dosent look like Mk11. The improvements are very big deal. Now if you want to compare realistics then Mortal Kombat even from original MK back in 1993 used real humans for their models and not Barbie dolls like with foot three times bigger than the head. Have you seen many human beings looks like Heihachi? Because like Johnny Cage every adult man looks.

As a long time MK fan, I think I'm going to skip MK 1. Not really a fan of resetting a new timeline again. They wrap the story well in MK 11. Gameplay looks cool but I'm not digging the new character designs particularly Scorpion & Sub-Zero & female characters like Tanya, Ashrah & Li Mei. Although I'm happy with some of the past fighters being brought back like Mavado, Darrius, Havik (& the rest I mention earlier) but as for story, not really hyping it.
Tekken 8 is definitely the one I'm hyping the most. Mainly because of the story because Jun Kazama is returning for the first time in almost 30 years. So many mysteries to uncover like her return to the series & what role she will have in Jin v. Kazuya rivalry. The gameplay looks sick as hell & it's definitely an upgrade from Tekken 7. Plus the character designs look phenomenal (although Paul kinda reminds me from T4 Paul but still looks badass) & female fighters looks feminine, sexy & badass like Nina Williams & Jun Kazama.
PS: I always prefer japanese female characters over western anyday of the week. They can be both feminine & amazing at the same time. Western female characters looks so cringy, boring & poorly written & designed

Tekken 8 has not improved upon its graphics whatsoever, it still looked plastics, shiny and shit texture overall. Not even raytracing could save it.
It's not trying to look photo realistic, just like the games before it, and Tekken 8 does look better than Tekken 7, while it's not a huge upgrade, it's still an improvement, claiming otherwise is ignorant.

I understand it's your opinion, but isn't Ashrah a demon trying to be human purging her evil from her soul? So what's wrong with ashrah design? it perfectly fits her lore, how she tries to become human.
I do understand that in deception they made her very human, but i love the variety. the devs are trying to create a demon becoming human vibe. Now it maybe opinion and some may not like it, but I honestly don't know what's the point of complaining and comparing, quite a poor move.

Her design in MK 1 is drastically different to her design in Deception, she could have looked less ugly while being a demon, like in Deception.
There's other games with non human and semi human characters that look better than this, also the issue with Ashrah's design is similar to how Tanya looks in MK 1, where her original designs look better.
My opinion that you are bothered with is not just how I feel, people in the comments on this video agree and I'm sure there's other videos pointing out Ashrah's new design, her design is also bland on top of purposely being made to look ugly just like Tanya, while Tanya's face scan actress looks pretty.

Mortal Kombat characters are more brutal and realistic, while Tekken 7 has anime characters and cringe.
Tekken has style and substance, while MK has Woke ESG design philosophies that makes the older MK games superior.
mk has a much better, more spectacular, complex story with more realistic characters, tekken developers can't take advantage of UE5, while Netherrealm kicks the crap out of UE4 and wow the game looks much better

MK probably sold more overall but after Tekken 7 the Tekken series has taken over, and no doubt Tekken 8 will bring the series more success, unlike MK, Tekken doesn't have to do reboots and pre order guest character dlc to help sell the game.

Ashra almost convinced me because of her now looking more in between demon and human, but they ended up with another bad design.
I would have liked something more like her OG clothing because white robes can be seen as being pure something this character is trying to become. I don't like those designs that look kinda power ranger armour, it's a no no.
Her appearance almos nailed it with the idea half demon and half human, but it also looks kind of half woman half girl or boy. NRS yet again decides to flat chest another woman, it just ends up looking weird and bad. Like for real all women I have met have a bigger chest than almost every modren western female characters, only girls have no chest and it's just disturbing for me (it feels uncomfortable). If that wasn't enough the women I've seen with a small chest know how to dress and Ashras costume is not suited for her new small chest and it looks bad.
I did like demon Sereena, they could have done something more like it to Ashra and it would have looked better.
Her design could have been better and I agree the robes would have made her stand out more and would have made her more recognizable to people who played Deception and Armageddon.

Idk about this one. I think its more down to the design aesthetics they went for at the start of creation.
I know that isnt a very good explanation but, I'll use other games as example.
I like the aesthetics of DOA 4 more then anything else since.
I like the aesthetics of Se%y Beach 2/Artificial academy 2 more then any "recent" illusion games.
I like the aesthetics of Soul caliber 2 more then the new ones.
I'm thinking western IPs are taking a side step from what jp IPs are doing just to "stand apart", more then pushing an agenda.
And yes, I understand how it would (and does) fit the narrative very well, but using my examples, I don't think jp IPs swapping up there aesthetic choices from classic to new (in my examples) was cause for them "pushing an agenda".
I'm reaching alot for the excuse of "cultural stylings within video games given the growth of tech/understanding of tech" as I don't know/care about the history of MK beyond MK 1-2-trillogy.
Even the aesthetic swap of SF3 to SF4/5 is what I'm getting at. I hate wet clay looking toons, but only now is the tech getting good enough to make them look "better".
Even fallout 3-nv has better chr look then wet clay failure 4 (the best example I can give for my "stance").
I could be way off base with this as again, I don't know or care about MK, and looking at that Fable trash and the shyts row reboot is proof enough of it being "forced", but I'm just unsure with MK. That female goro that caused all the tournament issues and out crys was god awful looking, but it was an aesthetic choice within that IPs "realm", so thats kinda what I'm thinking with this case here.

I get what you're saying with stylistic choices and how some characters look in certain games, like Fallout 4, in ways Fallout 3 and New Vegas looks better, kina like how Assassin's Creed Unity looks better than Origins (and the other rpg ACs).
However, seeing how Tanya was handled and now Ashrah, both characters look worse compared to the past MK games they were in.
Female characters got covered up for "realism" yet the men stayed shirtless or showing a lot of skin, in a game that is far from being realistic, and the male characters got b*tched out like Shinok, Shao Kahn, Kotol Kahn, you can look up videos on MK X and 11 to see what I mean.
Now with MK 1, they've been showing off a lot of female characters and they seem to play a major role in the story, not saying female characters in past MK games were never important.
Li Mei was a secondary character and her ending in Deadly Alliance she dies and in Deception she joins the main antagonist, Onaga and betrays everyone, but now in MK 1 she's being portrayed as an important noble character, I don't think any of this is by coincidence.

I love that not everyone looks like a model or a perfect 10. It's more realistic in a sense, and you would care more about the character rather than just their beauty. For instance, think if Abby was the same character but conventionally beautiful; people wouldn't criticize that harshly. I swear to you, beauty can shield a bad character. While the same character with a different, more realistically structured face is greater. I'd rather have a character with a body that can withstand what she does, rather than a skinny beauty who can somehow fight with a guy 10 times her size. But that's just my opinion, though.
