As the owner of the hound that went Best of Breed as well as the owner and breeder of the Best of Opposite hound. I can tell you these hounds are spoiled and pampered. If you were to look at the videos posted here. You will see the hounds I own are shown once a month. Rest of the month we find other activities like Fast Cat, Lure Coursing and public events. Events where we invite the public to meet our hounds and learn more about the breed. Conformation shows can be very loud and very crowded. This show is one of the smallest one we've attended this year. In April we attended an out door show in Missouri that had over 400 Irish Wolfhounds from all over the US, Canada and Mexico. It was a sight and experience you don't get to see often. Conformation shows are not for everyone but it is a functional tool for assessing our hounds against the standard. We also get to see what other owners and or breeders are producing. Having been in this sport for over 25 years. You loose more than you win.

@@tssk1223 Thank you for the explanations. I understand. The activities that you offer are human-defined "appropriate and fun". I know that you mean well. From a dog point of view it might be different. I am not sure about the nurturing of their true nature. Everything is taken over by humans' point of views.
