Maybe you should try listening to some more progressive metal then if you haven't already. Start with Metropolis Pt.2: Scenes From A Memory by Dream Theater.

Also can't forget that Mike Portnoy did play drums on Nightmare and toured with them as well so...

I think that Matt just sounded bad without the vocoder. Also, the synth parts sounded like they were being played live instead of on a loop, and the person playing them didn't know what to play.
Don't how I feel about these songs being played to end the show... I really prefer shows to end with a bang! Feels like ending with a smooth and relax song will be boring... The rest of the setlist was fire tho!!
G has some wacky instrumentation and drum timings and seeing this live is fascinating to me to hear how it'd sound. It is hard to hear Matt's voice on the low parts of G though. Perhaps it's the phone recording that doesn't pick it up 😅
I don't think that was intentional. Matt was having mic issues in (G) and the technical difficulties proceeded into (O)rdinary when his autotune wasn't working. The autotune device was clearly attached to him but just didn't work. Huge bummer but I still absolutely loved the show!
In person it was fucken amazing I was there vip through the creative artist agency and I saw them live was one of the most beautiful concerts I’ve ever seen both visually and audibly
I love every song on the album. However, them playing those last three songs really took away a lot of what I loved seeing them live for. An energetic metal/rock show. I can vibe out to them in my car or wherever, just not at an A7X show
i was at this show, it was my first concert ever. i had so much fun and i lost my voice after Afterlife hahaha. after the concert we got lost in the parking lot, while unfortunate i wouldnt change a thing about last night. i would definitely do it all again!

When a singer does that to their ear, from my experience, it makes it easier to hear what you actually sound like. Your voice doesn't sound to you like it does to other people, but when I'm singing, I can hear myself better if I plug one ear.
It probably sounds much clearer at the show considering that phone microphones don't have the range to pick up the lower frequencies coming through the speakers

I love a7x, they haven’t toured in 6 years, and fans have been patiently waiting. Closing with G.O.D and not playing Cosmic or Beautiful Morning is upsetting. G.O.D are great in their own way but are forgettable. Encore songs should be songs that the fans love/yearn to hear live. They could’ve closed with god damm, paradigm, cosmic, exist, any other popular song. Hope they change the encore segment for MSG

I love this album and I like these songs, but I just don’t think these weird songs fit in a set list with their other songs. I’m not sure these songs are fit to be performed live at all. Especially not the LIBAD piano song that they closed with. To me this album is best enjoyed with the studio versions.
I really like the new record but A7X has a quirk where every now and again they write a song that is blatantly taken from songs written by other artists. They did it a bit on the hail to the king record where they do Metallica rip offs and there is a part in the song off this record called beautiful morning that is a blatant rip off of Alice In Chains “them bones”. They are such a talented band but sometimes their inspirations show up too strong in their songs. City of evil and white album were the most original in my opinion.
They talk about having originality when they almost plagiarize songs- original ? Go listen to waking the fallen- there is no other music in the planet that you can point to waking the fallen and say “oh that sounds like that”
Big fan of the song Ordinary on the new record. This did not go well live. They should avoid, I'd imagine the casual metal fan at the show was dumbfounded.
I love the Frank Zappa’ishness of this song. And remember, Frank was playing all of his avant-garde music live, and that was back in the 70’s and 80’s!
