As a techie I lost my job 3 months ago along with 200 others in my company. We got severance package for few months. I started preparing within a week once the shock came down a bit & completed one certification. Applied to many jobs through multiple portals like LinkedIn, Monster, Naukri etc. Initial few interviews were flop but once I got hang of it, I learnt my mistakes & did better. 1.5 month after my layoff I landed a good job again. To all those laid off, don't lose hope & don't take things personally. Move on & focus on self improvement. Dear Shraddha, your writing as usual top notch. One of my friends accepted another company offer just because they were providing more freebies while the type of work and position was much better in the other company at a same package 🙂 His company has already laid-off 200+ people in his unit. However, he is still safe with a sword hanging on him. No matter how high package we get, we are always behind freebies, less work, more fun 🙂
Not really Machines are getting better than humans at certain things .That is why we are having robotic surgeries and high tech medical care .I agree man is behind the machines but there are now fewer men doing same work which needed an army of workforce .So we shall have job losses and need for continual skill upgradation

Brilliant, funny- and painfully true. I still remember my first unexpected layoff after managing a national feel good consumer education program for Intel. The year before my partner and I had recorded more media views than the CEO (maybe that's why they dumped me). Several more layoffs would follow over the years- but hey, I got severance checks and got to to keep the company shirts and hats ha. Thanks for sharing.
