so i'm in college now but last yr (senior yr) our VSA did ur dance for our ifest n i'm watching this again thinking: u guys did it better and also i forgot most of the timing LOL....anyways i loved watching this it's a great hat dance :)
We typically start learning new routines in the fall for a big performance in February of the coming year. Our group holds rehearsals on average two hours a week for about five months leading up to that performance learning multiple dance pieces. Closer to performance time, we will put in more hours to drill and clean the pieces. We don't know exactly how many hours went into this piece alone but it definitely took a few dedicated rehearsals.
We definitely ran out of time for cleaning the piece more but the show must go on! We are more of a community dance group that only meets on average two hours a week so definitely don't have as much time to rehearse as a more professional dance company and most of the dancers do not have formal dance experience. Given those limitations, I'm really proud of the work these girls put in to get to the point you see here.
Southern Chinese and Vietnamese cultures are so close anyway, overlaps and similarities shouldn't come as a surprise. I don't believe they've "stolen" anything. "Influenced" or "inspired" are better choice of words.

Definitely not stolen so we don't get what you mean - Vietnamese culture has hat dance too and in any case, this is our fusion modern take on it.
Really? Have you ever seen Chinese wear Ao dai and dance with Non la? So stupid comment. I know you are Cambodian.
V QA damn another Cambodian hater lmao
