I love listening to Brandon talk about guitars. His knowledge is impressive. I know I could sit and talk with him about guitars for hours. Michael showcases the tones and overall voice with his usual skill.
Beautiful depression era Guitar… Looks like it was loved a lot and that’s a good thing… And for a small body guitar that thing really puts out a lot of sound
Those small body Gibsons always sound wonderful. A friend of mine had one from the 70s that sounded so incredible, even to my high school ears. Different decade of course, but thanks for the trip down memory lane, courtesy of Lemmo’s playing and the great production and information here. Great work y’all.
Wow! You can immediately hear the vintage tone coming off that thing! The notes really pop with that midrange clarity and it's such a fantastic sounding guitar. There is definitely some songs in that black beauty, that are just waiting to be discovered.
The intro number, the final suave piece, really highlights the balanced glory of that old timer. Yeah I could see that cutting through a mix of other timbres nicely.
Man this looks like my 00015SM 2021 and I think mine was based on a 1929. Joined at the 12 fret this size offers enough bass to really enjoy. Mine is my favorite guitar I’ve played since 1992! Hope some gets this one it really sounds great.
1930's wow. let that sink in. that building your in wasent even there yet I'm sure. none of us weren't even thought of yet neither were our parents. but that guitar was.. and someone's great grand parent had it in there arms just jamming away. who knows maybe Branden's great grand dad did a spot check on back then??? lol...
Great to see Norm recently. I worry about him (I think it’s the most I’ve ever seen him play guitar) and I wonder how he’s getting along. All my best to him and family. I’m thinking it’s a 32’. Did they mention it was a 12 fret, the rarer LOO variant? Tuxedo. A little sweeter variety, like the Kels’. 1930-34 is definitely my favorite run of Gibson’s, and better yet, ones I used to afford. I think they had an incredible batch of wood at this point. Maybe not visually, hence the many black and sunburst but lightly built and some of them outright raucous. If it’s alright for Bob, it will do for me. It’s the first guitar tone that imprinted on my ears. That old Nick Lucas had a hell of a tone.
Mr S has an official title! Frosty. It appears he is indeed listening and taking notes from Norm. Rosa String Works just finished a full reconstruction of one of these and it sounded great.
Sounds beautiful! Reminds me a lot of my prewar acoustic; not a Gibson though, another one from the factory that build all the Stellas (goes by "Nioma") Is this Gibson comparable in size to those parlor guitars from the 30s? Sorry for the noob question, that's a mostly electric player here.
Like small body guitars sound is so "intimate". I had Loar which was copy 1930 Gibson. It had thick body wide neck. I remembering Big rounded-C neck. Neck was only thing why I sold it. Not suited my hand. Guitar sound was great. Lots of midrange, bass was weak and treble was vivid.
The family that plays together, stays together. Great job as us usual Brandon, Lemmo and Jen. ✌🏼
Lemmo needs a national tour! Do it!!
The pick choice was perfect. Sounds great.
The 3 of you together makes the perfect storm! Great guitar, great job by all!!

Cool history on that one! Nice playing too!
Being in little old England love that it’s travelled across America in its 100 years would make a epic film for guitar geeks

I’ve got a 1936/37 Gibson small body and it’s fantastic. Feather weight and resonant.
92 year old guitar sounding great. Thank you all for a Wonderful GOTD.
That last song Lemmo played was superb. Same feeling as seeing beautiful art!
The intro number, the final suave piece, really highlights the balanced glory of that old timer. Yeah I could see that cutting through a mix of other timbres nicely.
That Gibson was made for that slow tempo jazz sound. Made it sound real sweet Michael
Thank you Brandon! Michael, how can you be so cool when it is so hot outside?

Reminds me of my PRS parlor sized acoustic since it’s also black on the top with a white guard. Same warm tone too.
You guys have the Dream Job!!!

Friedmans was a guitar repair store in Newark N.J. ☮
My favorite guitar, 12 fret OO.

Can someone make Brandon a custom ‘T’ that says, “Spec-Check Boy”? Truly appreciate the detail he brings to each episode.

Nice sounding Gibson
Spec check - top and sides woods?
Mahogany!
Get well Norm
If I'm not mistaken, that's the same guitar, or one of the same guitars that Legendary bluesman Robert Johnson played.
Do you guys have a roof at Norms? If so a couple of videos up there might be cool..? 👍
no mention of side and back wood?
Are those Spruce and Brazilian?
What song intro he play??
Delicious

Bye bye Brandon...😂👍
Best wishes Norm. More basses, less Lemmo
There's no free guitar. It's a scam.
Pretend like it doesn’t sound like a child’s guitar. I would have been embarrassed after starting ti play that
