Truth is Timeless! So many years since this was recorded and people like me show up, guided by some mysterious power, to have revealed NOW what the gifts of this talk are. I'm constantly blown away by how life unfolds. Thank you the ALL. 🙏
"Life has a part to play itself through me, and so I play that part. I'm in total union with the part it plays. Moment to moment the part changes all the time, but that's what I'm in union with. I'm no longer arguing with life it gets to play its part through me, but now it gets to play its part with agreement instead of disagreement"
Wow, I am a recovering alcoholic addict and for me I had a burning bush moment the first day in rehab when I read the first step: I am powerless over alcohol, my life had become unmanageable. I had also reawakened spiritually with meditation. That admission of powerlessness changed my life and for Adya to recognize this blows my consciousness. Tx Adya. AA and Buddhism have a lot in common.
And in Islam and Christianity it is about surrendering to the Will of God/ Allah. It's everywhere. We are powerless because we are NOT separate from Totality. Totality/ The Mystery is creating and destroying and driving the whole shebang. Woohoo. Thoughts come and go and they are not us. 😂
And everything I said was not true. It is soooo incomprehensible that if the capacity to fall endlessly into What Is is available, then freefall and see what happens .
Now I got the understanding that empower the 50%&50% Master disciple in oneself a MASTER are some that we not want _/\_ what if I toke a NO , No , No , No ... not in resistance but in conviction !
It occurred to me as I listened that the powerlessness in addiction isn’t so much that the addict can’t stop on his/her own but instead is the experiential truth in front of them that they cannot control the negative consequences of their use! Therefore if they continue to use their lives will become unmanageable. Hence the need to stop in a healthy way that works. Simple but not easy.
that was my biggest fear! until I no longer believed any beliefs or thoughts i created... it is then i realized all i believed was only things I was imagining. Amazing! I my greatest blessing is to now I will die , leave this body as my true self ... namaste
he means anything done by means of the seeking mechanism of the mind, in hope for ____. but it will always fail because true knowledge is gained through surrender, the surrendering of I being the doer of actions/controller of life.
IMO, Adya should make it more clear that this is his personal experience and the spiritual path takes many forms. A lot of people practice well, do not 'fall flat on their faces' or 'fail' at practice, and they wake up. Adya admits that for many years his own practice was too rigid and forced, and he often didn't take his teacher's advice. The path of failure has certainly not been my experience - I have practiced by following the best of advice from the beginning and have benefitted enormously.

Bro I’ve listened to this talk at least 40 times and I still feel despair . Any insights ?
Listen to Rupert Spira about depression

Knowing all this has set me in a massive non stop depression all the time.
God, sometimes i feel i want to kiss every word that he says...
GO FOR IT

"Spirituality is a willingness to fall flat on your face" "I only know for sure that I AM. That's it."
Yes! Take it in! Welcome it. First you swallow the self, then you swallow the whole world.

Everything happens in its time ♡
This is so beautifully clear and true.
It seems to be Tami Simon. I watched at Eckhart Tolle on his awakening (2012) and seems to be the same voice :)
I am powerless, there is nothing I can do. Such a relief.
Very powerful!
Incredible !
Shouldn’t you control your thoughts? Shouldn’t you have control over your thoughts? And by You I mean whatever it is that is having those thoughts?

Tami Simon from Sounds True Publications. Podcasts of her show "Sounds True" are available for free through ITunes. Best interviewer ever.

Inquire. Is it true?
Define “lost.”

this is great! thank you :)
so true.
Beautiful.
, life plays its part through me
Tat means its predetermined
no, just that there is an order of being.
....is there anything that Adya doesn't 'know' about this stuff? thanks, for doing the hard-yards Adya!
I get the failure/effort/control message - me too. I still do stuff, just not anything I expected.
