Great Video! But one thing to point out as an observant user, Cinosky is wearing Warrior Burns. Still love the tutorial so I can inform my defense on how to play GLE.
It is not a hold because he is in good position and not using his stick to "hold" him. if he were to say stop moving his feet and only be using his stick to hold him back or only use his stick to try and hook him or "swing" him around, that would be a hold. BUT, because he is in good position and then uses his hands to push him out away from the goal in the 1st one and then into the crease in the 2nd one, it is not a hold. furthermore, he wouldn't get called for pushing into the crease because once again his feet are in good position and he's not checking him from behind into the crease, he has position with his feet and isnt aggressively pushing/checking the attack player. I'd say a major reason why defense-man do get called for those two penalties is because they're getting beat and using the hold to catch up or the attack man is in front of them on the crease and they're just pushing them in the back into the crease. IDK if I did a good job explaining that because its not a huge difference in what is a penalty and what isnt but I hope it helped.
How these penalties are call will differ from official to official and region to region. S0, i suggest you come to know your officials; how and what they tend to call. As a Coach I keeped a book on each official that call game I saw.
Definitely a hold, you can lift the bottom hand but once you get under the arm where can the guy go? Nowhere, I will call this every time. 14 years and 2500 games of experience.
thankyou so much for some more defensive vids Maverik!

this helps sooo much
thanks so much, i take a lot of X attackmen on my team real helpful!
D pole for life!
Can we get one on sliding and breaking down?
im no defenseman but ive had a guy do this to me before and he got called for holding, so maybe a lift of the bottom hand would be as effective here.

ummm what if the attackmen runs wayyy out away from the crease
is his pole cut
I know it looks so light in his hands
refs in my area suck... if you hook an attackmen like that with your stick and forearm they will call a hold or some shit like that
g
I don't think that's not a penalty.
