time capsule

do you ever have trouble in letting go?
sometimes, i begin to associate a certain song or melody with someone from my past, someone that's no longer with me. whether that be because of a change in life direction, a lost love, or the inevitability of death, i think its kind of beautiful. we all have our own paths to walk, and sometimes that ends up in having to say goodbye.
for me, letting go becomes less about forgetting the memories that come with experience, but instead realizing that hoping to regain what once was is not a good direction of energy. after all, if you hear that song or that melody again, that person, that time, is gonna come barging down those doors no matter how tight you think you may have them locked. i welcome the memories, its nice to see them again sometimes and look back on how far we've came or how different things are, but getting lost in them is never good for anyone. it becomes dangerous. i know there will always be a part of me that cannot let go of certain things, certain memories, certain melodies. but accepting that, and understanding how to let them in, have a moment, then see them on their way is crucial to giving that final wave.
in the end though, the after-image will always stay. and that's okay. i just hope you can find a way to look back on times as fondly as i do mine.
its time to find a new beginning.
