He's faced off with many of our political leaders and often his own tribe leaders for what he sees as injustices to Māori. However, cooling down in police cells once too often, Wikatana Popata says he has taken on another kind of protest. This time it's to create a Māori customs-based environment where only Māori is spoken so his children can grow up knowing who they are by building strong bonds of relationships based around, language, customs, genealogy and their history.
