We found out my grandson had multiple problems at my daughter's 20-week ultrasound in 2017. We saw a couple of specialists, and they believed he had a chance, so we all fought for that regardless of what everyone else said. We went to U of M and had the best care set up for the second he was born unfortunately it my daughter didn't make there and delivered locally where the NICU couldn't intubate him due to his anatomy. Westyn lived 23 minutes but touched the lives of so many people. He taught people strength, love, and how we could all come together. I truly believe everything happens for a reason he brought our families so much closer, and the doctors and surgeons learned so much more on how to treat his heart, stomach, and facial deformities. Azariah is here. He is loved and NOBODY, but only the higher power can decide when his last day is. You have an Army behind you stay strong. So many prayers are coming your way and give that precious baby loves from me❤

As a former NICU nurse, I really appreciate your grasp of the NICU nurses. You are being very kind and also very honest. On our end, we get in trouble if a parent tosses a diaper without it being weighed, etc. So we're caught between letting parents help, and covering our own rear ends with the doctors. You are an amazing advocate with a deep grasp of things.

Mamma Bear could you and those who read this say a prayer for a 19 yr. old woman from my church. She is in the ICU her organs are shutting down. They took her to the hospital a day ago. God has been refining me and my mouth for about 6 months now so I pray for people who are ugly rather than snapping back, if at all possible, no matter what the situation. I was prepared for our NICU stay, but one part I was not prepared for was how hard it would be to watch other people take care of your babies. That hit me harder than I thought it would.

I am a nurse with 33 years of working . Any time a nurse is assigned to a patient for the first time besides the report of the previous shift is all the history they have on the family and caregivers. They are assigned the patient and are responsible for the treatment s and maintaining the tube's and lines . They have been educated and trained what to do . In time they will be able to see how attentive you are . When time comes for you to transition to home they will teach you what you need .

My oldest son was a very bad asthmatic, and it seems like I was always either at the doctor's office or at the hospital, so I totally identify with your struggles in Azariah's care, and applaud you for being an advocate for him. I think you are very brave and I am praying for Azariah and you and the whole family.
@mommabear2many He is fine now. He has totally outgrown the asthma, than you for asking. I just remembered all of the times he was admitted to the hospital, when listening to your story. At one point, he was having other problems as a result of the asthma meds, and I remember needing to advocate for him with the doctors and nurses, and its not an easy position to be in. You do what you need to do for your son-do not listen to negative input

I remember the days when my son was in the NICU in critical condition. The tears would flow with every valley. Fortunately, he finally gained ground and is now a father of two! I remember how encouraged I was whenever I heard of babies that made it through! The hospital had their pictures hung on the walls.

I was prepared for our NICU stay, but one part I was not prepared for was how hard it would be to watch other people take care of your babies. That hit me harder than I thought it would.

I am a nurse with 33 years of working . Any time a nurse is assigned to a patient for the first time besides the report of the previous shift is all the history they have on the family and caregivers. They are assigned the patient and are responsible for the treatment s and maintaining the tube's and lines . They have been educated and trained what to do . In time they will be able to see how attentive you are . When time comes for you to transition to home they will teach you what you need .
So sorry that Azariah is having a hard time and you too. Praying for you all ! Your older children are trying too honor you and being there too help.

My oldest son was a very bad asthmatic, and it seems like I was always either at the doctor's office or at the hospital, so I totally identify with your struggles in Azariah's care, and applaud you for being an advocate for him. I think you are very brave and I am praying for Azariah and you and the whole family.

@mommabear2many He is fine now. He has totally outgrown the asthma, than you for asking. I just remembered all of the times he was admitted to the hospital, when listening to your story. At one point, he was having other problems as a result of the asthma meds, and I remember needing to advocate for him with the doctors and nurses, and its not an easy position to be in. You do what you need to do for your son-do not listen to negative input

I am 76 a mother,grandmother and for the first time this year blessed with a great granddaughter.i had a son in Louisville,Ky. Intensive care many years ago and they would not allow you to even go in the room to hold your baby. I had almost lost both boys and was widowed at a very young age. I am saying this to let people know what a horrible journey this family is going through .They need your love and prayer and support and not nasty comments.
