So I used my OWN music in this video and got demonetized 💀The section of the video that just has no sound is because of this, sorry about that. Spent months just trying to prove that it’s my own music and never received any responses, so I resorted to just muting that part. Oh well!
The thing that gets me is the LACK of customization that the mod shop offers. Want humbuckers instead of single coils? How about a Tune-o-matic bridge? Or maybe to change what the controls do on the Jaguar? Nope, can't do any of that. It doesn't seem like a CUSTOM product except for you being able to pick the color combo. I think they need to fix up the mod shop as a whole, then add some more hardware options that you could choose from. Maybe it's too much to ask, but that would really want to order a guitar from the mod shop.
For sure man, it’s super frustrating. I get what they’re going for, and I understand that it’s cheaper than a full on custom shop because of how limited it is, but yeah for that price it’s definitely still a little TOO limited, ESPECIALLY ESPECIALLY for the offsets, it’s pretty ridiculous how limited those are compared to the strats and teles
I think you just wanted a custom Kurt cobain Jaguar if you’re wanting humbuckers and a tune o matic in a jag, otherwise you make a completely valid point.
great video man. Ive been wanting to order a strat off the mod shop for a while but hearing about the complete lack of support really makes me second guess it. I guess thats the gamble lol
Yeah man was a super disappointing experience, and then let’s never forget this infamous video: ua-cam.com/video/IE69Dwn0h2Q/v-deo.htmlsi=R3Qu_GBbukQuJ_a5
I bought my fender mod shop strat on the 31st so 9 days ago, I live in the uk and have not received it yet but so far have had a good experience, I received an email on the 2nd August saying they had received my order and would start working on it and would keep me up to date, on the 8th I received an email saying that on the 6th they had completed the build and would send me and email when the guitar had been fully set up and sent off, the fact they built it within like 5-6 days of me ordering is impressive to me, I know they probably just have the parts and put it together but still, it’s a hss strat in gold with gold hardware, a full rosewood neck, and a black pearl pickguard, really looking forward to getting it
And that’s why you build partcasters yourself, I’ve built a few and always for less than $1500 Using all American parts Fender necks Body’s I get USA made guitar mill.
Mod Shop was great years ago. The last one I bought (a couple of years ago) had a marked dip in quality. The neck was no longer stamped with a US serial number and it had the colorless look of a neck that came on a Mexi strat 10 to 15 years ago (they instead put a random mod serial no. on the metal neck plate). The zebra shawbucker came mounted backward/upside down. The pop in trem bar was not very stable and had a lot of play in it. It has never set up well either. I swore I'd never order another one.
This is like a 5th video of this type that YT recommended to me. It's either some custom/mod shop issues or MIM abysmal quality issues. Seems like Fender is dropping the ball recently and I see more and more people talking about this but at the same time loads of people still flock to give them their money regardless.
I purchased my Fender Jaguar mod shop about 2 years ago and I had the same issue with a different pickguard being used then what I picked. I picked a white pickguard but it came with an Aged White Moto pickguard. But,,,,, I’m happy it did as the pickguard looks better than the plain white. I ordered mine in Mystic Seafoam Green with rosewood neck with binding and oversized dot inlays. Yanked out the v-mod crap and replaced them with the Jaguar vintage pickups and converted the electronics/plates to the correct vintage ones. In the end I decided not to say anything to Fender as I ended up liking the aged white moto they put on it over white - the aged white moto just looks awesome with the Mystic Seafoam Green and neck with binding. And the Aged White Moto is a more expensive pickguard so their loss. Plus I wasn’t willing to wait any longer. It took 6 months for mine already so yeah. Love my mine.
well wait a minute, you can clearly see on the image they sent you which was a snapshot of the guitar you built that is has a white pick guard on it.. for their screw up they should have sent you a white guard let you keep the one you didn't order.. nuhter reason fenner is going under
Like I said now they're different, I'm about to order mine and I downloaded the whole picture and all the settings and everything they're building the guitar with in detail before you even click purchase.
I ordered a P Bass and Telecaster from the Fender Mod Shop in August/Sept 2021 and while I had some issues with their ordering process (in particular, the lack of shipping notification) they did send me a confirmation with attached PDFs which included all of my selections. I had also saved the specs myself when I ordered. It kind of looks like yours is cut off or something. Personally, I think whomever it was at Fender who looked at the spec sheet and said, "nah, we going mint green on this bad boy" is a hero and 100% did the right thing.
The neck color looks like the one on my American Pro Jaguar (which I loved). The other specs pretty much match the American Pro or Johnny Marr Jaguar, which I prefer but is definitely not vintage accurate.
Bro right when you before you click order you can download the entire description and Order sheet which will print out everything you've ordered. I'm about to order one and I already downloaded my workshop paper that list every detail.
My only pickle with the mod shop is you can’t choose the radius, they’re all 9.5 which is a bummer, I went all satin black with a strat and reverse headstock but the lack of options for the fretboard radius killed my enthusiasm.
Ok, but I am looking for a Jaguar with specific color combinations that aren’t for sale elsewhere (firemist with a tortoise guard). I would rather have the choice of ordering pure vintage pickups and normal Jag switching however.
I was looking at the mod shop this morning, 2k for each guitar. I think it's one of those things where at that price you may as well fork out for an actual custom shop guitar and get exactly the thing you want. With the mod shop it's limited amounts of modding available really
Wow🎸《☆》I should be working for Fender😁I could mess up a Soup Sandwich. I'm used to getting Monoprice Indio Guitars from Amazon that show up the wrong color but it's ok at a $99 price point. Great demo & information about your experience. I don't think I'll ever deal directly with Fender but it's good to know✌🏼😎☯️
They did the same thing to me with the strings. I hate 9’s asked for 10’s and they told me they couldn’t even change the string gauge when I contacted fender support.
I enjoyed your previous video on the Vintera Modified HH Jaguar -- how are you getting on with that now, and what made you want to go for another/a different Jag? :)
I’ve actually sold that one months ago. Unfortunately the reality is in order to afford all these videos, I can’t keep everything- even the stuff I like. Ultimately that jag just wasn’t “the one”. Neither was this one, I’ve sold this one too after making this video. I most recently acquired made in Japan traditional jag, an FSR in surf green (only 12 were made and I got lucky enough to snag one!). Spent a while trying to find a good jag and I think I’ve finally found “the one”, or at least one that is close to that!
This just goes to show that if you really want a custom guitar - build it yourself. Why should any guitar player be stuck, with just making do with what a manufacturer is offering. Many choices out there. You might even learn something. Building my own taught me a lot about guitar set up.
its non returnable IF IT'S WHAT YOU ORDERED, by law if it's not what you ordered they have to take it back, obviously .. they know this . . they are just saying look if you get it and decide oh I don't like it after all you cannot send it back, but if it's not what you ordered they must take it back by law, or risk lawsuit.. show them the image they sent you with the white pickguard, thats PROOF of what you ordered, it clearly has a white pickguard . . . . don't let em get away with this shyt! they'll just do it to someone else..
The tinted maple is super ugly. I hate the look of my orange American Ultra neck. Would much rather have a natural maple, or maybe just a slight tint. Fender has gone way overboard on the tinting in the last 5 years.
I think you mistakenly has the mint option clicked. You get to download the same pdf that they sent you when you order the guitar. It appears when you add it to your cart. You can test this without actually buying a guitar. I'm all for holding fender to account but I think this is user error. Also: You don't like the sound of the guitar then compare it to a Strat. Jags don't sound the same. A lot of people think they sound pretty terrible. I have a Johnny Marr Jag. It sounds pretty crappy compared to my American Strat. It's just jags. Love them for what they are. Changing the pickups won't make that much difference.
I understand what you’re saying, but I promise it wasn’t a user error. While deciding what to order, every design I made resulted in the same nonspecific pdf that just had the 3D render and no mention of any of the specs, and only for the jag too. Upon finally deciding which design to go with, just assumed they would eventually send a more detailed pdf, but they didn’t, and hence everything I talked about in the video. I definitely selected parchment, and you can even clearly see on the 3D render on the pdf that the pickguard isn’t mint green, obviously the render isn’t gonna be super color accurate but when you compare it to how it would render with a mint green pickguard you can clearly see the difference. And unfortunately customer service didn’t accept this argument as they needed something written out that that clarified the correct color, not just the picture comparison. Very frustrating. And as for the pickups, again I understand what you’re saying but the pickups on this are pretty different from your traditional jag pickups, I only compared it to the strat because that also has vmod ii series pickups in it. Comparing two guitars equipped with pickups under the same series, I just didn’t have another jag with me on hand to compare While this guitar had the traditional 1 meg pots and the pickups appeared as your typical jag pickups would, they just sound off, and just in general the guitar has a very disappointing sound. I’ve owned a mij traditional jag, vintera 60s jag, and I’ve tried a fair share of jags in stores, so while I haven’t played/owned every jag in existence, I still feel convinced that these mod shop vmod ii pickups just sound off, compared to your typical jag I appreciate the time taken for your comment though, I hope this doesn’t come off as hostile at all, I’m just trying to clarify what happened and I still stand by everything said in this video. That being said, I’ve sold this guitar and currently have a ‘23 fsr mij traditional jag, surf green with a matching headstock and it’s incredible, satisfied all my gripes with this mod shop jag, I’ll eventually make a video about it cus I love it :D But again thanks for the comment and most of all thanks for watching, I appreciate the input 🙏🙏

If you wanna mod out and get a sick custom guitar check out halo custom guitars! They do basses too.
Yeah I was amazed that you can’t even have a 5-string bass in the mod shop, seems like a pretty basic thing idk
I think you just wanted a custom Kurt cobain Jaguar if you’re wanting humbuckers and a tune o matic in a jag, otherwise you make a completely valid point.
Or go the MJT route and get a truly 100% custom guitar, got a couple of Fender style guitars from them that are truly great.
Buy everything from Warmoth, take it to a luthier or if you know what you're doing, do it yourself. WAY BETTER THAN the mod shop EVER will be.

Take screengrabs as proof! This is a lesson learned ...
When you ordered the guitar, didn’t you have a screenshot of your order or an immediate receipt (not the proof sheet)?
The order yes, “MOD SHOP JAGUAR”, but no specs/description
The vintage fender necks were never tinted. The nitro lacquer turns green with age and looks tinted. No surprises there.
Looks like a Johnny marr jag with that mint guard
Exactly what I was going for! Maybe I should’ve just spent the extra few hundred to get that instead…

This is why i didn't buy the jaguar off the mod shop because of its limited options. I bought a strat off of there because you actually had options
I only like visiting fender modshop to customize my own guitars, but buy the, i customize it for fun

No :(

I think you just don’t like jaguars. They are a bit of a pain in the ass, and to me the pickups sound great. My favorite guitar ever.
There are small companies making better Fender guitars than Fender with better customer service and better parts.

Might be a silly question, but is that a 3 way or 5 way switch? Is thar how you're putting the guitar in and out of phase.
It’s a 4 way switch:

Neck
Parallel
Bridge
The switch on the other side where the rhythm circuit would have been is an out of phase switch
