Take a look at Arrow cranks for ej engines.. They have an amazing rod oiling so that all rods get equal oil.. Oil is rerouted so that 2 connecting rods are not sharing 1crank journal oil supply..Very nice concept, but no cheap..Seeing them for around $3200 from Rally Sport Direct..The nice thing is they are pre machined to accept #3 thrust bearing for phase 1 blocks & #5 thrust for phase 2 blocks..

I believe & don't quote me, from my readings on NASIOC in the built motor section that the ej case 1/2's expand when hot & thus create larger main bearing clearance and that's why they run a tighter main bearing clearance so they don't loose oil pressure.. the rods have no excuse and niether the rings & I'm almost afraid to see what their piston to wall clearance is from the factory.. Can't remember which side of the case whether it being #1 or #5 is constantly out of round and needs a kiss with a line bore.. If you watch Subie Performance channel, Andy the owner of Subie Performance in Germany runs a nice one off main hone that he built just for this purpose.. That's a good channel to watch, he shows a lot of content..Though he doesn't show bearing tolerance as somethings he must keep a secret..

2007-8 STI was the worst motor they made. I'd look at literally any other year before really crossing Subaru out.

Subaru knew like you said, 19+ STI they finally opened tolerances. Go figure, EJ going away in 2022. Pretty popular German Subaru specialist doesn't call out Subaru like you did. You are dead nuts on how he builds his motors.

Btw ,what about the shape of the engine boxer dont the piston get worn due to being sittting on the side
Another thing talk about those shitty gaskets that will give a blown head gasket
