A very devout Muslim lady (who tried, very gently but in vain, to convert me) had done the Hajj 5 times. Every time - she told me - she had been 'fondled' while circling the Kaaba. She blamed a particular (non-Arab) ethnic group (she was very proudly Arab herself), saying "they were the worst, but by no means the only ones". However, she just shrugged it off as being an annoyance. It's because we're not wearing underwear under our robes at that point, she said, so of course that excites them, and they get 'wandering palms'…

From discussions I've had with Muslims, and videos I've watched, I figured out that Islam doesn't enforce self or teach it in any shape or form. They believe that they are weak to the works of the devil, so the options they are given is to keep away from anything that could lead them to sin. But when they are in a situation where they can't follow the abstain rule, they simply can't do any self control.
They ask their women to wrap up themselves like candy 🍬 in a wrap because they can lose control of themselves and assault her if she is not covered. Truth is that even if she is covered or not, the concept is as dumb as anything. A man who cannot control his sexual drive will sleep with any woman no matter how she looks. And only the women are going around wrapping themselves like burritos, so the reason is failed because these men without any concept of self control will sexually assault these women and them having the mentality of casting blame and not owning their errors will most likely blame it on her for being a woman.
While living in Saudi, my US-Afghani neighbour went for hajj…. When she came back in 2010, she stopped wearing her niqab, she was done with her entire head cover. Her husband (Lebanese/Palestinian) couldn’t “believe he’s married to a woman who no longer covers” She was so disappointed in her hajj experience!

A few years back I visited the pyramids in Giza. There were very few tourists at the time. While there I met an English gentleman who was with his 2 children, a boy of around 8 and a girl who appeared to be around 12. He said men were trying to pinch her behind even while he was standing right there.

I was in Egypt in 2015. In the 2-3 years before important UN reports came out condemning the treatment of women. The government tried to respond with a toughening of legislation. Hopefully the situation has improved since I was there. But it takes more than legislation. It's takes raising a new generation with an entirely different set of cultural/social ethics, mores and beliefs.
A friend of mine was just there with her in laws, husband and her son and she is pregnant again at the moment. Thankfully she was ok but her sister in law had her bottom grabbed a couple of times. They were obviously dressed with hijab etc. the men commenting here trying to victim shame should be ashamed. My friend is a very proud Muslim and found being there an incredible experience but how this can keep happening there is astounding. She also said the way the men were running around was very aggressive and one even tried to fight her husband.

I have lived in Saudi Arabia for almost 15 years and have performed the Umrah multiple times with my mother and two sisters and there wasn't a single occasion where any of us have seen or experienced any sort of assault/abuse/harassment these Islamophobes are talking about.
Yes, because of the very high influx of people coming to Makkah every year, a few incidents definitely do occur, unfortunately, but to talk like it's the norm is absolutely ridiculous!
And talking about the rape incident, If that is true then that is a very very remote incident and I highly doubt Nuriyah is even saying the truth.
My family and quite a lot of my relatives have experienced living in multiple countries such as the US, India, UAE, and Saudi Arabia and we all agree Saudi Arabia and UAE are far safer overall.

Years ago, a family friend of mine who is a lady and she went on the Hajj alone and she never came back. It was believed that she would have been raped, and killed and buried in some unmarked grave. Is this permission for us only or is it forever?’ The Prophet replied, ‘It is forever’ (Sahih Bukhari, vol. 3, bk. 44, no. 683; also see vol. 9, bk. 92, no. 464).

I can echo every sentiment and story told, I have my own set of stories and experiences from being born and growing up in Saudi Arabia. Sadly for us, we were not in international schools. we experienced the full disgusting experience of foreigners living in Saudi. In my experience, it is the pit of hell itself.

I really don’t want to go hajj. I remember that my parents say they will bring our family to hajj when im in college and my siblings are in high school. So which means i still have to wait thankfully.
Now i’m assuming that my parents forgot to bring us there. I hope nobody reminded them.

I know about that, we went to Israel and Egypt took a tour group a few times, the Arab men there Like in Bethlehem, Jericho, the old city and Egypt, we were also warned by our tour guide and yes we saw that with the woman that was with us, was a problem and had to be on our guard with the muslim Arab and Palestinian men, believe it or not they went nuts with the blond ladies for some reason that were with group, our groups varied with an average of 32 - 35 per group. We had a few issues there and you also had to be careful when you stepped in and theft pickpocketing we were warned. So I can imagine your situation in Mecca is on another level.

I heard this down the grapevine of this woman who went with her aunties to Mecca for haj. Unfortunately she was not born in a muslim country. As her aunties were sleeping and she did not want to disturb them, she hailed a cab to shop. The cab driver stopped, got out of the cab, pulled her away from the cab door, gave her several hard slaps and she fell to the ground. He told her to go back to her hotel and not come out without a chaperon. She was shocked and hurried back. When she returned to her country, she kissed the tarmac! Another one I saw as a documentary was how pilgrims threw rubbish on the mountain that their prophet meditated in. I still cannot understand why they would do that.

I'd like to share an incident which happened to my father's friend's friend. When he was leaving Saudi, he and his wife had to go through different security checkups (one for women and one for men, as is the norm). While he came out of the checkup and started arranging the luggage from the tray, his wife was nowhere to be seen. He looked around frantically searching for her and even went to the women's security checkup spot. The people there said that they hadn't even seen her. Even the police didn't help. The guy became mentally insane after this incident.

My husband spent time in Iraq and Kuwait and loved many of the families he met there. There was a range of secular to devout non-radical Muslim families there who despised Sadam Hussein so they were very welcoming to the overseas soldiers and would invite him into their home to get a break from the Sun. He was impressed with their prayers and hospitality and the same kindness shared by the non-religious families.
There was a sharp divide between them and the radical Islamist men. He heard, outside of the homes, many horrible jokes about women being raped, etc. Over all he loved the encounters he had with the people there and left the military because he could not continue to watch the innocent be bombed, etc. But I know he saw some men who despised women so much because we were watching a pirated movie about a storm in Indionesia and the subtitles were in Arabic. And you could head the men in the theater laughing during scenes with women almost dying in the movie. I asked him, how could they find this funny? And he told me it's a very different mentality in the Middle East and Islamic nations among the men who have used the religion to embrace sexism and have been taught all their lives that women are inferior, a joke, nothing.

Ask him to stay that night there ad go back in the morning. You guess what happen to his wife till to this day he couldn’t find his wife.

When I was in college in a small town on the West Coast, there was a group of several Arab international students that usually took a smoke break at the SU just uphill from the sidewalk of the main road around the time I walked home. I remember routinely feeling their eyes on me as I passed. I was dressed excessively modestly for an American but wore my hair only partly tied back often, so it was hanging down my back to below the waist. I guess that was enough "immodesty" for them to stare at a woman in a wool coat and skirt below the knees. At the time I felt it would be "racist" to verbally acknowledge that I didn't like the vibe coming from them, that I could feel the stares.
