  • These are the AMAZING, VINTAGE AND COMPLETELY ORIGINAL 1961 Turnbull Traflomatic (Dover, Computamatic?) Traction Elevators at the Queen Elizabeth Health Complex Hospital, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada!!!!!!!! These were just TRULY AMAZING!!!!! AND A VERY RARE FIND!!!!!! Probably a once in a lifetime find........ Sure, Hospitals may not be an ideal place to film elevators due to photography restrictions and busy doctors and medics (and this place is NO exception), but the province of Quebec has LOTS of Old Hospitals' like this one, and some of which has old elevators, like this one, making it absolutely worth going into to film!!!!! With that said, I only took 2 rides as the hospital was VERY BUSY at the time I was here, Plus, one elevator was OUT OF SERVICE, and this is the ONLY Bank of Elevators in the ENTIRE Hospital, only 3 Guest Elevators, and 1 Service Elevator, and 1 of the Guest Elevators was Out of Service!!!!!! This place really needs more elevators, but with that said, I would HATE to see these get modded!!!! Even though these were busy, they do actually go pretty fast for their amount of floors, and despite the fact these are pretty heavily used, they run like new, and are super smooth!!!! These aren't in mint condition, but NOT in deplorable shape either. One thing to also note is these are 100% NON ADA Compliant as the fixtures are WAY TOO HIGH!!!! Despite the quirks of this elevator system, it's truly AMAZING, AND I HOPE IT NEVER GETS MODERNIZED!!!!! As you should know, Turnbull was a Canadian Distributor of Dover, and I believe this could be a "Dover Computamatic" that is distributed as A "Turnbull Traflomatic", but not sure. With that said, I have a feeling this distributor is how Dover got the Traflomatic name for their Microprocessor controllers used to compete with Otis Elevonic 401 and 411 in the 1980s and 1990s, but not sure. This is basically Turnbull's equivalent to "Otis Autotronic" and "Westinghouse Selectomatic". These do appear to have some sort of Square Variant of the Dover GAL Black Buttons, but not sure. I do sort of wonder if Westinghouse had something to with this install judging by the indicators and call button on the service elevator, but not sure..... I'm pretty positive Turnbull just distributed Dover and Rotary though.... Also, since it's December 1st, Christmas is around the corner, and notice the Christmas lights in the call buttons!!!! With that said, let's give these AMAZING, RARE, VINTAGE BEASTS A RIDE!!!!
