I think Shinee has always been famous for making songs that sound bright and modern for every particular era of kpop that they existed in at the time. So even though people say that this sounds different that the usual Shinee music, that's not realy true. They've always been on top of every genre and pushed the boundaries in every separate era of their careers. I just love this type of behind the scenes videos that show us their raw vocals, I was especially impressed by Key and Taemin here, they not only sang the lyrics but also *performed* with their voice.
Well for me, no. Shinee had both bright and dark/edgy songs. They're one of the group that popularized dark and edgy concept like RDD and Lucifer. Their B sides also got a lot of these element also like Evil, Dynamite, Stranger and many more. It's just this time it became their title song, which they haven't done before. They're extremely flexible in both concept, not only bright and upbeat songs. And i guess only fans knew about this, and other says it doesn't sound like them, which what Shinee is to begin with. They never settle for the same thing twice.
Key starting with arguably the worst natural tone and transforming himself into such a versatile vocalist is wild. I feel like his voice has come so far esp the last couple years
The first title song I dont like so yeah it is very Different from their usual style. But I love the album overall so I dont mean it in a bad way. I like how they keep trying new things.
Key is so impressive. He’s the most all around perfect member in terms of singing, dancing, stage presence. Just very good at everything and very stable! And Onew makes everything look effortless lol! I’ve also come to really enjoy Minho’s voice so much in this album. He adds this nice smoothness to the album? And the fierce parts are also great! And I don’t need to complement Taemin - I became a Shawol after getting obsessed with his solo work last year - he’s unique and always kills it. Anyway really love the group!! Will continue to support you guys! Fighting !!!
True, one of the members once said that he can do everything. He knows how to cook, is good at english and even designed clothes for the group. But everyone of them has some things they are good at. Our boys are just one of a kind and deserve everything good 💎😄💙.

I just love Onew soo much. He's one of the most talented vocalists in Kpop with a rare pure voice but look at him being the most humble and shy artist and Leader even after 14 years.He always has the least screen time in every Shinee thing but he's just happy and comfortable supporting his members and I've never seen him whine. His personality is gem I wish everyone learnt from.

I only stan SHINee and Taemin, and I found this song imminently suitable for SHINee because they have proven over and over again that they can do anything they want. Genre is just a meaningless word to them. They said in a different interview that they had never tried hip-hop before so, as with every one of their comebacks, they wanted to present something new this time too. Well, they certainly did. They married hip-hop with elements of R&B and classical musical theater with this one. The songwriter & producer in "Exclusive! After struggling to assign it a genre, they decided on a totally new one: "Chill-out Trap". This is what SHINee does -- create new genres.
I actually think that it is a perfect song for Shinee to change and progress a little but still keep their sound. Idk it's fresh but I can still feel them in it. I love it.

The ease with which Onew sings is no joke. Like....at least in the video, there wasn't a time where he looked like he was struggling or didn't have complete control of his voice. And at the very end of the video his lil end bit was just....butter smooth
That's why I always say that SHINee isn't SHINee with just one member. SHINee is unique because of each members' voice colors. Some people may still think Minho as insignificant as the others, but this video just shows that his parts are often overshadowed by the others' vocals. The low adlibs and the back vocals may seem irrelevant, but it ain't a song without those.
Exactly, his low base give the floor to other high pitch vocalists to sing in high tone, if not for his deep back voice it'd sound different He basically formulates the chorus of songs which is identical to SHINee. Baritone voice is not common for rappers and he has it So good. Onew was already a great singer before, but he has improved a lot this comeback, too. He continues to hone his craft, and this says a lot about his and all of SHINee’s humility and passion as artists.
ONEW's vocal timbre is difficult to describe. It somehow sounds both dense, like an impenetrable wall, and hollow, like it would feel an entire auditorium. Unique and amazing.
Key doesn't have to worry about whether shawols will enjoy this song or not. Shawols love all shinee songs. But seriously 'don't call me' is my favourite shinee song, I just love the style.

This is so true! SHINee's music is so diverse, it can't be confined to just a single "style". The have experimented with so many concepts and trends that they have their own definition as a group. This is what makes me love SHINee even more. All their comebacks are unexpected! Just compare all their music video concepts and songs! They are constantly challenging their image as a group. SHINee doesn't really have a specific genre but they ARE the genre.
As a shawol I totally agree, but i think ppl assume bcs in general, SHINee makes alot of funky more colourful type of songs compared to dark concepts in their discography.. So I think that's why generally ppl thinks it's not a SHINee song, which I get it Their songs like replay, love like oxygen, juliette, dream girl, 1 of 1 are all more to the "funky" "pop" type of sounds..

I'm sure I'm not the only one who really enjoys watching recording behind videos because rather than a person who cares more about the result/final version, I want to see the process of making it too plus knowing hidden adlibs and harmonies done by the members is fun, yeah? It's amazing how their raw voices don't sound so different from the published song, which proves that SHINee doesn't need autotune and they're really hitting all those (crazily high) notes themselves. I agree with the producer that SHINee members are all hardworking and perfectionist in a sense because even if they did it well, they want to do it even better. Anyway, as usual, our polite and kind leader left the studio last and even greeted everyone on his way out. What a sweetheart ;;
it kind of motivated to me when key said this "if its fine, i wanna make much better". the member is so humble and always want to do better and make me always want to do my best in everything
I both love and hate his perfectionism - it’s what makes him the incredible artist he is today but it also makes it that he’s always concerned about things and never quite satisfied no matter how good he does
Even though I stan Onew, especially vocals, but I think we all know that Key carried this title track. His voice is versatile and he made hos voice act which made the song more edgy and dramatic. Onew always had that distinct and wholesome voice. Taemin, I think had difficulty grasping that "acting" like voice because he has that flowy and smooth voice, like a melody. Minho. I think he carried this song after Key. As a rapper, it was his element. His base have always been my favorite. Base always grounds a song. More than a high note, which shows the difficulty or range of a song, I think base gives depth and ground to a song.
I agree that Key's vocal is the driving force of DCM along with Minho. Lower tones are just as important as high notes, even more so for all the reasons you've mentioned. On the other hand, high notes are the highlights (or icing in the cake) and are usually placed towards the end cause songs like dramas tell a story. And highnotes highlight the climax or bridge, which Taemin and Onew did splendidly. I think that each member's vocals fits their specific parts perfectly and added dynamics and character to the sound of the song. The contrasting sound of their voices makes this more interesting and the reason why I'm still not bored listening to it even after constant replay for almost 3 weeks.
@@ophirelda3368 i agree as well. For me personally, I like listening and singing to high notes. But because of DCM, I was just reminded of the importance of lower notes. In SHINee songs, I usually like the high keys but I always forget to appreciate the low registers by Minho, and an occasional Kibum and Onew.

I actually think that it is a perfect song for Shinee to change and progress a little but still keep their sound. Idk it's fresh but I can still feel them in it. I love it.

The ease with which Onew sings is no joke. Like....at least in the video, there wasn't a time where he looked like he was struggling or didn't have complete control of his voice. And at the very end of the video his lil end bit was just....butter smooth
That's why I always say that SHINee isn't SHINee with just one member. SHINee is unique because of each members' voice colors. Some people may still think Minho as insignificant as the others, but this video just shows that his parts are often overshadowed by the others' vocals. The low adlibs and the back vocals may seem irrelevant, but it ain't a song without those.

ONEW's vocal timbre is difficult to describe. It somehow sounds both dense, like an impenetrable wall, and hollow, like it would feel an entire auditorium. Unique and amazing.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who really enjoys watching recording behind videos because rather than a person who cares more about the result/final version, I want to see the process of making it too plus knowing hidden adlibs and harmonies done by the members is fun, yeah? It's amazing how their raw voices don't sound so different from the published song, which proves that SHINee doesn't need autotune and they're really hitting all those (crazily high) notes themselves. I agree with the producer that SHINee members are all hardworking and perfectionist in a sense because even if they did it well, they want to do it even better. Even though I stan Onew, especially vocals, but I think we all know that Key carried this title track. His voice is versatile and he made hos voice act which made the song more edgy and dramatic.
Onew always had that distinct and wholesome voice.
Taemin, I think had difficulty grasping that "acting" like voice because he has that flowy and smooth voice, like a melody.
Minho. I think he carried this song after Key. As a rapper, it was his element. His base have always been my favorite. Base always grounds a song. More than a high note, which shows the difficulty or range of a song, I think base gives depth and ground to a song.
I agree that Key's vocal is the driving force of DCM along with Minho. Lower tones are just as important as high notes, even more so for all the reasons you've mentioned. On the other hand, high notes are the highlights (or icing in the cake) and are usually placed towards the end cause songs like dramas tell a story. And highnotes highlight the climax or bridge, which Taemin and Onew did splendidly. I think that each member's vocals fits their specific parts perfectly and added dynamics and character to the sound of the song. The contrasting sound of their voices makes this more interesting and the reason why I'm still not bored listening to it even after constant replay for almost 3 weeks.
@@ophirelda3368 i agree as well. For me personally, I like listening and singing to high notes. But because of DCM, I was just reminded of the importance of lower notes.
In SHINee songs, I usually like the high keys but I always forget to appreciate the low registers by Minho, and an occasional Kibum and Onew.

Baritone goodness!When I listened to SHINee ballads, I always think why is their harmony different? Because their vocals covered the full scale from bass to tenor. They're basically a choir.
