- When travelling through Qatar, if your transit is 6 hours or more, you can turn your stop into an extended holiday by joining a city tour, a desert adventure or any number of exciting Doha excursions. We decided to do the city tour. We specifically booked a flight with a long layover because we wanted to get out into Doha and see it for ourselves. We swear by doing tours when we're in a new country. You never know what adventures lie ahead!

This is my perfect find. I'm travelling solo from NYC to Nepal after 11yrs and I have a 8hrs layover in Doha. I was browsing through (w/ an anxiety) to find what can I do on those 8hrs. ntil I came through your video. This video gave me all the insights. Hi guys we are planning to do the city tour with Discover doha..............but we also want to book a hotel near the Souq Waqif Market...I heard from you guys you just stayed on at market..............asking we can leave tour group and go to the hotel and then go to airport in am...our layover is 13 hours

Where do we keep our luggage though in the airport?
Hi! Our luggage was checked in and on the way to our next destination so we didn’t need to store luggage. We saw some people bring small bags on the bus, otherwise I’m sure there are storage units in the airport you can enquire about🙏🏻

Is there an extra cost when taking longer layovers?

The rent at the Pearl is extremely expensive, especially as a South African it is excruciatingly painful to pay QAR9,000 (R37,000) for a one bedroom apartment. However, according to Qatari law, your employer must allocate to you a paid apartment or give you an allowance to pay for yourself. Of course your allowance will depend on company and position.
Many South Africans live at the Pearl and you probably unknowingly walked past some of them.
Wow! Thank you for letting us know! That is crazy expensive😱. How much would a qualified teacher earn in Qatar? Just interested to know how much one has to earn in order to live comfortably in Qatar.

Hi there. Not it does not include hotel stay 😊 We didn’t stay at the hotel. That was our friend who booked the hotel for themselves.
You can book a hotel from Qatar airline , choose stopover , you will get good deal , need to try it in Doha or Dubai
What currency u used to do a transaction in qatar? shouldve be QAR? or USD still okay?

Hey there. If you’re in transit the airline will have your luggage. We just took our hand luggage along with us. Otherwise if you don’t want to do this there are places in the airport that will keep your luggage for a fee😊

Could you pay via credit card in local shops in the market?
Not sure about in the market but most places around like restaurants and other shops took credit card 😊

Hi! thanks for a great video. I would love to do this tour. Are they really very strict with the waiting hour? on their website says to be at desk 2 hours before the tour time. My flight arrives 1 hour before the only tour I will be able to take as the next one is too late and I will be late for my next flight. Greetings from SA :)

We’re not sure! Our bags went straight to our end destination so we didn’t have them with us.🙏🏻

You can get a transit visa at the transit desk! They even now provide food vouchers and free hotel stays😁😁. Just enquire at the desk what you qualify for based on how long your layover is
