This video examines the mining town in Pennsylvania that was destroyed by careless ineptitude and decades of wrong decisions, and the aftermath. Thank you for watching! I appreciate your time.
Like Ronald Reagan famously said...the 9 most terrifying words are "Im from the government and I'm here to help". What happened to Centralia is heartbreaking. So tragic and it is still burning. No one wants to talk about what could happen to nearby towns. The geyser on Big Mine Run Road just keeps getting bigger. But the government says nothing to worry about. It's fine.......😢
Thanks for sharing this history. It was thought provoking for me. I wish that more people would make videos like this. Real, true history. Why didnt they seal up the vents, they just didnt care enough or they didnt think it all the way through?
My understanding was the vents were to help pull the fumes away from the center of town. It somewhat worked, but also fed oxygen to the coal underground.
Use to drive through that town all the time in 1982, you could see the smoke coming out of the ground.
I’d imagine you still can at times.
Thanks for watching!

I agree. It’s a terrible situation all the way around.
Thank you for watching.
Very interesting! I never knew how the fire started. Also, our government is shameful.
It really always has been shameful. We just have the ability to find out more often now.
Thank you for watching, and your comment.
Sounds like chernobyl in a way... smh
Not as initially disastrous, but long term, who knows? You could be right?
Thank you for watching!
I would love to hang out with you and hear what you have to say. You seem like a cool guy, in my opinion. I gave you a thumbs up
Thanks! And thank you for watching and your comments.
