always the best reviews from you mr.sonicstate presentator. i like to watch it! (english is not my first language, so excuse if there are some grammatical mistakes) but: i like your presentation! sonicstate is best! thanks!
@yoGregg0ry yep you can, but... either in split mode 2 channels but with full control of effects and editing or MIDI control mode which gives you 16ch of multitimbral operation but with very little front panel control - everything is accessed via external MIDI - prog change, volume etc. Also no access to MFX1 and 2
Thanks Nick for the video. I've used my Juno-GI for gigs this past year. I can't use the recorded stuff I've done - as you point out - because of no click out I've done many split keyboards e.g. Beatles' "Back in the USSR" w/Jet plane on one patch. I'm running through the PA . Our "Sound-gal" keeps me in blend. Given how I am using (and not using) the Juno-GI features, can you recommend a better Roland for me? Thanks.
Hello - i have a big problem and i can't find the solution on the Gi - how can i switch the function on which shows on the keyboard display which chord or note i am paying. it would be very very useful. many thanks
I got my Juno GI in 2013. It has worked extremely well until just recently. When I try to play any 3 note chord, the keyboard changes the highest note to some random incorrect note. Do you know how to fix this? I have done multiple factory resets without success. Thank you!
Would I be able to record drum tracks using my Roland TD4 drum kit either by direct line in, or by using the TD4 drum pads to trigger the drum sounds on the Juno? No one has been able to answer this for me, I hope you can!!
@yoGregg0ry Hi, I got Gi week ago, how do you like it? did you figured it out how to do 16ch of multitimbral to sequencer? I am using Ableton Live and still couldn't figure it out how to do 16ch of multitimbral or split I am little disappointed on that thinking to return it because i contacted Roland and they told me that Gi is not 16ch of multitimbral so I don't know how @sonicstate saying that!
Hello, very nice demo. thank you much...I'm thinking strongly about buying this GI. board, but to save some money, I was considering the Di. Please give me your feedback on this decision Now I don't really need all the features of the Gi, but I looking for Great sound for live performance in a lounge.. Bass L. H. / horns and flute R.H. & MOST importantly the drums.. I need good assortment R&B, Jazz, Blues Pop... what do you think? Huff
@sonicstate, thanks for this great review, I both Gi week ago, your saying in this video that Gi is multimbral so I can use on 16 track midi channel whit different sounds from Gi simultaneously, but I couldn't figure this out with Ableton Live and when I contacted Roland support they told me Gi is not multimbral you can access GM sounds only but LiveSet sound engine supports 4 sounds simultaneously only, you cant do normal 16 patches. if you know any please help specially on Ableton Live
Hi, and thanks for great review, I have Gi and I do like lot of the things in it except the recorder and recording a pattern specially, you can't record drum bass and snare at same time in record mode, clicking enter on each step to enter note is extremely difficult and you lose the idea of the pattern, I was wondering how everyone else creating patter?
Does anyone know how to set the Sustain in the Gi? I can only find A S and R in the menu. Great synth by the way, it has amazing capabilities, try creating your own sounds there are really cool features.
@wma85wma SRX and ARX are gradually being phased out. Don't expect Roland to add sampling. They saved that feature for the Fantom, which costs more than the Juno. It's strictly a business decision to omit sampling from this instrument. The Juno-G was a workstation, but the latest Juno models are synths.
Hi, just one more thing please... if it's not too difficult... focus on the drums a little... I want to know if you think the following categories are decent. {this is for us who perform live} Jazz, R&B, Pop, soft Rock, Blues, Latin and sambas... Don't worry about the Rock drums, most drum machines have more than enough of those. thanks again Huff
Hi I was wondering if anyone could help me ?? Im the keyboard player in a Pop/punk band from South Wales, UK. At the moment I use a KORG X50 and I feel like I need to get something new. Any reccomendations??
Great review Nick. And for what it's worth from another not-guitar player, that sounded like a pretty cool guitar riff to me. The Gi seems like a pretty decent live synth, or second synth though the lack of aftertouch is a pity. On another note, I see that you still have the Prophecy, albeit leaning against the wall... :-)
Fica meu protesto! #JunoGI #Roland
Yes, exactly. I have the Gi and for the longest time I kept wishing that Roland would do a firmware update and add sampling as they did for the Juno G... Needless to say, I've given up. 😋
@haikousei The Gi definitely sounds better than the X6 because it has the Fantom-G synth engine. Sound is only one aspect, however. The X6 has greater functionality than the Gi.
This is good in general as a multi instrumentalist very use able for live and recording on the fly. Drums aren't great annoying as you could put a solid demo down quickly. Keyboard sounds good in general live I was drawn to putting the synth through an amp to mask the cheap sounds. The pads are great not always use able. Interface very clunky. Board is too shallow prefer my 20 year old psr350 keys. Simple sample would have been cool. 7/10
Oh dear, what on earth are Roland playing at. This keyboard is a massive step down from the Juno G. Firstly you are limited to 8 audio track, whereas the G gives you 16 midi and 4 audio. Waste of money if you want to record, very limiting - buy a mac with logic/garageband or pc with pro tools instead otherwise get a juno g, or a juno di if you're not bothered about sequencing. The split and layer capability is limited compared to the G. you could probably get a motif xs 6 for the same price now
Omg I’d love to know what you think of the £700 DS range with its shitty 8 bar sequencer?! Even the sounds seem better on the GI than the DS. I would love to know if there’s an actual difference?

10 years and nick hasn't aged at all. That is comforting.
13 Now 😄
I agree with him: the lack of click out for audio recorder is a true shame! I hope Roland will fix it!
One of the Greatest Presenter! I really love how simply you can explain!

Hey, did Roland eventually update the click send feature you were mentioning here?
Cheers
I’m no fan of digital synth, but I love this baby, it’s very unique, it does things that no other synth can do.
Very nice presentation, so clean and professional! Thank you!
Finally a good review of this keyboard... Thanks!

Yet again an outstanding review Nick, absolutely love your reviews, I own the Juno Di you may enjoy my own videos with the Di.

Can you bounce single recorded tracks from the recorder to whatever storage you've got connected..? And if yes, in what format, samplerate etc..?

@SnoiltheRipper Burns London Split Sound circa 1963
thanks for posting this review, actually I've been waiting for it...
@SnoiltheRipper Looks like a Burns. I don't know what model it is, though.
Can you do a reveiw on the casio ctk 7500 wk keyboard. because it seems to do the same thing that the roland gi can do. thanks.

I want to buy it though!!!! So nice keyboard!!!
Does it have the same patches as the d550 or d50?
when played in string with pedal does not change notes when played in other notes
Nicely done review,Enjoyed, Thank you much!
@Desmaad Speaking of which, I didn't know he played guitar at all.
can you use the record play button to sync with pro tools
What do you mean by click...? can you please explain?
You should make a review of the Juno Stage
Hi I was wondering if anyone could help me ??

which sounds great JUNO GI or Yamaha PSR s910?

will you review the korg ps60
It's essentially a Juno-Di on steroids :-) Disappointing to see the 16 trk midi sequencer gone.

@AstraVex Thus, technology progresses.

Great review!
@yoGregg0ry it enables sequencing
Yamaha mox 6 x Juno gi ???????? please
could someone please tell me how to delete a live set after i create one? Thanks.
+Alex Attard Never really tried, but you can overwrite the next time you create one.
"This Vocoder's better than the other one....the otherrr one.....the otherrrrrr one...". Goldfrapp don't know what they're missing.
@squeakD
This is typical, I've had my Di for literally 2 months and now the Gi comes out, lol That's just bad timing xD lol
Well at least the Meaning of portable has changed over the years , Unlike Nick
Very good -and quick;-) - review thnx!
@Desmaad
Thus, technology should slow down to let me buy it all ^__^
FAST N' BULBOUS!
@lilnickman14 no

@@tronlady1 I didn't even know Roland brought out a DS. I thought their recent workstations were the FA and Fantom range. will check it out.
