What blows my mind about time is we have millions of moments encapsulated in our memory, which remain dormant unless we decide to recall them. For example, if a friend says, "What were you doing October 2004?" you may not be able to elaborate on "exact" sequence of events, but you can come up with, "I was living in Seattle, working at XYZ, and was dating Suzie Q." If this specific period was not brought up, you may never have recalled that the rest of your life.
I see memory's different than "time" to me time is a construct, dam handy fourth dimension! as for memories, are they coded chemicals in neurons I guess, Albert Einstein said time came into being during the big bang. I am not sure that time really does exist but if it does surely it has always been running before the big bang, or are we in a never-ending cycle of big bangs.

@@gwekk4692 Alright here goes. Time only exists in so far as we infer its existence. In that sense, time is real in the same sense that Santa Claus is real. The concept of time as we know it, defined here as the past, present, and future, are things we have created to make sense of our lives. We as humans are temporal beings, and as such, require ways in which to navigate our lives in accordance with our biological limitations. Ideas of the past, present, and future act as these structures for us. Time, from a quantum physics perspective however, exists in an entirely different manner. Time exists as a 'thing' entangled with gravity whereby the relationship between the two is that time is affected by gravity. The more gravity something has, the slower time becomes because the more it bends spacetime. Think about something with the mass of a blackhole for example. A blackhole posses extreme gravitational pull and as such has an enormous influence on the spacetime/gravitational waves around it. Time around a blackhole would thus move slower relative to something with less gravitational pull.
This whole concept really hurt my brain. I think i am starting to understand that memories of the past are in our mind at this exact second and we create the illusion that it is something that happened long ago. But really the tapes and memories are playing in this exact second. In our cells and in our mind. Same with the future. We only think the future is out there but really it is playing in our minds in this exact second. It feels really uncomfortable having this whole structure and illusion crumble before my very eyes but I think I am starting to get it. It is about bringing the gap. It definately releases a lot of the energy around regret of the past and worry of the future as well as the stories I have made up. I guess it wil just take time for my head to catch up with the universal truth. I think the hardest part of this whole thing is seeing that I had been lying to myslef about the illusion. I know why... it is a tough pill to swallow. Egads!! Anyone else feeling this confusion and conflict?
The past present and the future are human experiences. I doubt if it has anything to do with what's actually going on in the universe. Let's say there was no human or anylife existed till date....now tell me what's the past present and future? Don't ask me i dont know the answer too...
It’s just words and labels that wouldn’t exist. We have language and label thing things to communicate and conserve knowledge over time but that doesn’t mean the “things” we name and label aren’t still “things”. Everything that exists now in the universe planets, stars, etc... would still be there, just wouldn’t be called those things or anything for that matter cause as far as we know we’re the only ones that care to name and label things. “Time” is a measurement always has been. And depending on the environment “extreme gravity, like a black hole” it can slow down or be speed up. The only thing you need to wrap your head around is that it’s not a constant, it’s a variable
You are near spirituall awakening. We making future NOW..Just once when it become past we are able to see that our thoughts from now were our past future😂
So weird to think that time could just be a human construct. Also that other civilizations out there in this gigantic universe might not even know what "time" is? That's difficult to wrap the mind around. We as humans base our entire lives around "time."
Time mesaruements like we know with hours etc, are made up by us but time itself isnt. Otherwise everything would happen at once. To make Time itself meaningless, u need zero entropy but thats not possible due to the 3th law of thermodynamics
it all connects. makes sense as to why some say your goals/desired life is already here! because we are living our futures, past & present. it makes so much sense and ever since I was a child, ive always questioned time. To think time is real is hilarious and so many humans are limited by it.
@@Legendaryium ik a lot of older people in their 30s+ think that bc they’re old they can’t still achieve their goals they think they missed their time A lot of people want to wait for the “right” time or “special” time to do things they want to do A lot of people put off things until later
I've always had a problem with old father time. The cruel nature of it slipping through our fingers, no opportunity (seemingly) to press rewind and undo mistakes 😔 So, I find the concept of it not being real extremely comforting 😊
Yes its actually very easy, time is not real, the idea of time is. The Time theorie is invented by humans and its extremely smart. It allows us to record events and dates. The thing is: its hard to explain. Once you get it you're like: ooooh that's how it works. But we grew up with (time) and our entire live is time based. So it's kinda a mindfuck. Short anwser: time is a theory we use to make our life easier in any way. But it's not an actually natural thing.
Well said. Our languages cant fully describe our reality. Time may be able to help us keep track and plan, but it remains a tool for our societies-apart of communication.
Time is only an illusion if you use the prospect of time moving from the past to the future (forward). Time expands outwards just like how the universe expands, and within the space of the universe, we can move around in any direction, which alter the movement of time. For us time is spherical.
Einstein may be right according to his mathematics about the distinction between the past, present and future being an illusion, but we have to live our lives in this universe as if they are not. Whatever time is, our perception of it is forced on our senses and it gives us no choice but to conduct our lives according to the way our senses forces us to perceive it. Our eyes see one day passes and another begins inexorably and with certainty and we cannot conduct the business of the day as if everything going on around us is some dream. We see our bodies and that of others age and change and we eventually die, just like Einstein died. (Was THAT event an illusion to his family, loved ones and his colleagues?) All of this is impossible to just ignore and say it's an "illusion", no matter what the mathematics and theory say.
I, hopefully, fully understand what you mean. we have to live as our lives as we (human species) perceive it or meant to perceive it using what our bodies provided us with. Even if this "illusion" throery proves to be correct it wont matter to us if our human brain cannot comprehend it anyway. so its a very fair point you make
WHAT IS TIME? General relativity - Time is part of the physical fabric of the Universe, a dimension that can be stretched and warped by gravity Thermodynamics - Time is an irreversible arrow pointing from the past to the future, in the direction of increasing entropy Quantum mechanics - time is a number that you plug into an equation. It can run forwards or backwards Rational definition of time: a comparisons of 2 motions. Time ONLY requires MEMORY & MOTION! TIME IS A NUMBER LINE - YOU CANNOT BEND/CURVE/WARP A NUMBER LINE! e.g. of definition of time = comparing the motion of the clock hands vs movement of earth or the photon Just because a clock ticked slower does not mean time slowed or was dilated! Amrit Sorli's work which re-formalizes Einstein's relativity equations in terms of 3D space NOT 4D space-time. Time is defined as: "the duration of motion in space". So THE TIME WE MEASURE WITH CLOCKS IS THE NUMERICAL ORDER OF EVENTS. The fundamental unit of time is Planck time. Every elapsed time (duration) is the sum of Planck time: t = tp x n, where n is a finite natural number. Taken from the article: " In their paper, Sorli and Fiscaletti argue that, while the concepts of special relativity are sound, the introduction of 4D Minkowski spacetime has created a century-long misunderstanding of time as the fourth dimension of space that lacks any experimental support. They argue that well-known time dilation experiments, such as those demonstrating that clocks do in fact run slower in high-speed airplanes than at rest, support special relativity and time dilation but not necessarily Minkowski spacetime or length contraction. According to the conventional view, clocks run slower at high speeds due to the nature of Minkowski spacetime itself as a result of both time dilation and length contraction. But Sorli and Fiscaletti argue that the slow clocks can better be described by the relative velocity between the two reference frames, which the clocks measure, not which the clocks are a part of. In this view, space and time are two separate entities. “With clocks we measure the numerical order of motion in 3D space,” Sorli told Phys.org. “Time is 'separated' from space in a sense that time is not a fourth dimension of space. Instead, time as a numerical order of change exists in a 3D space. Our model on space and time is founded on measurement and corresponds better to physical reality.” p.s. one comment re: measurements (that many physicists use, incorrectly, as evidence for understanding) - just because we have measured a parameter e.g. the gravitational constant to the nth degree does NOT mean we understand its physical derivation.
good "answer", but like others explanantion of something is not the definition of something...however ordinality or the counting of something does indeed carry more human meaning to sequentialy listing events, your answer is the best so far
The methodology of a speculative temporal philosophy With the scientific development pointing into a certain direction across various disciplines, that time could only be an illusion, accompanied by a societal consensus vis-a-vis this conception, i decided to try and concept a new view on the philosphy of timelessness. Asking yourself anything, being the main tool of all of philosphy, the questions that are being stated by a philosophy of timelessness are going to represent the core of this treatment. For some of them, first approaches are going to be delivered, which are to be executed at another point. This way, a first conception of this philosophy is to be proposed, and the foundation of the methodological framework for further considerations to be layed down. The first obstacle to be overcome is the language. Besides others, the first ones to encounter some difficulties are the ones who try to define the nature of timelessness using a language which fundamental structure depends on the temporal order of being things. Considering this, all expressions that are to be viewed on the background of timelessness, will be accompanied by a corresponding reference or a new term will be introduced. The understanding of those terms, demands a high level of cognitive devotion to the following premise: Time does only exist as a mental construct. Regarding the previously stated warning, it is the language that creates a mental contradiction by speaking these words. But since time cant be eliminated on a cognitive level, it is not yet necessary to predict an attack on the day to day semiotics. But since we just eliminated time from a physical level, some of the rather intuitiv answers to simple questions seem not to be applicable anymore and other previously not even thought of questions seem to be pressing for an elegant solution. Imagine a physical world without time, a consortium of from one another least possibly different nows, only connected through the laws of nature. Every one of those nows would be equal in the face of timelessness and all of them would be happening simultaneously. But there are nows, that include time, and it are those ones which include intelligent life itself. Since intelligent life has to be made possible by selfawareness, and it itself needs a concept of a past and future self, u cant speak of single nows but rather a now complex. Since there is no temporal Order of things, common physical equations have to be translated into the language of temporal philosophy as seen below: A system moving at the speed v changes its state at a rate lower by a facotr of (1 − v2/c2)−1/2 than the system in the rest frame, meaning that every human life( if and as long as it has a concept of time )represents such a now complex, in which time is to be found, but only within the boundaries of the associated mind. If the human consciousness moves in time, but the corresponding body itself does not, the conclusion is to be drawn, that at smaller mergers of nows within the human now complex, there are separate consciousnesses feeling the journey through time. Therefore it has to be calculable how many of those conscious states a human now complex includes and therefore how often one appears in his own life. The respective subject is then limited by time, constructed of almost innurable states of consciousness, all regarding themselves as the real present one, for eternity. To put it in simpler terms: Your life is like a book, with the pages torn out and distributed on the floor. Every single page does exist equally next to the other, for ever. Death can be defined as the first now of human now complex, from which on all following nows of that complex are not able to simulate the associated consciousness in relation to all other systems of the universe. This topic will be further discussed in the chapter devoted to the language analytics of the temporal Philosophy. Going further into the book metaphor, you have a Universe consisting of several books, one them you, and the rate at which you read one book in relation to another is only determined by gravity and speed, the direction in which it is read by the laws of thermodynamics, the physical foundation will be specified at a given time. You should have a clearer pictures now, about the fundamental laws that determine this philosophy and to not stretch this introduction unnecessary i am now going to state the various forms of life that will be at the center of this philosophy. It is defined by its relation to time and its perception and the practical part of this philosophy will be devoted to finding a series of demands u can set for interactions with the different kinds of life. It will take some effort and will be discussed in different parts of this treatment but we will be able to split life into 4 categories: unaware life Aware life Selfaware life Selfaware life aware of timelessnes Intuitivly less accessible and harder to visualize is going the be the approach to put a moral value on certain action, since the calculation will be determined by variable views on time, simply because life of every categories includes certain aspects of the previous categories and you will have to consider all possible angles on time before even trying on depicting a normative ethics of timelessness. For the introduction into the temporal philosophy it will be enough to have a basic understanding of classical physics, thermodynamics and relativity. Quantummechanics will be introduced at a later stage to help us save the problem of the eternal return and derive the free will. The speculative nature of this philosophy lays within the fact, that there is no scientific prove of its premise at the time this is being written and it therefore does not claim any sort of legitimation or applicability in the present moment. I do think however, that a willing reader will have to accept the fact that a lot of things would have to change in human interaction if this premise is proven at a certain point and in the cultural evolution of every temporal philosophy it will be stated why a civilization is only able to conduct this thought process at a certain point of its development and even later will be able to accept its conclusions . Aim of the methodology of the speculative temporal philosophy shall be: to present a perhaps purely biological distinction between the various layers of life made possible through a metaphysical framework in concurrence with and through current physical theories, along with the existing parameters respective to the aforementioned metaphysics study, as a basis for my chief work.
Even what we humans as a rational being claim to be logic is relative, for example mathematics or the standard laws of physics, because we can't be sure if what we know also applies in all locations and times in the universe, multiverse or even in every dimension (also the ones that we don't know) and we'll probably never know. So the statement "everything is relative" is irrefutable even if we're talking in a formal or scientific context. Hence there's no such absolute or final truth because knowledge is infinite and it depends on the observer's perspective as well since our brains are programmed to work in a certain way. For example, the color of random things like the ocean, human blood, apple, sand, sun and probably everything, since different beings see different colors because their brain programming.
1) Time doesn't exist 2) There is only the now 3) What we call time, is like an inch/meter - a measuring device So, all time measurements are based upon and factored from the rotation of the earth. We can measure a number of events and create any number of time scales from there. As long as we think of time as a ruler, it all works out. Also, there is no back or forward in time. We cannot go back as there is nothing to go back to. We cannot go forward as there is nothing to go to. There is only the present, now.
You can't say we're living the in the present now as by that time it would've become past then past becomes future and future becomes past so it's kind of a paradox there's no present time unless we freeze time and stop it from marching forward then there'd be no future but a past would exist because that's in our memories There's no "now" it already becomes past and I think we'll never reach the future (future>present>past and so on) but time is definitely marching forwards
@@effewefewfeeffefe The biological changes absolutely take place. But, if we change the measurement, i.e. so many Oreos eaten, does it change anything? Perhaps a better analogy is a cars odometer. Say I quit drinking last month. A family member also decides to quit yesterday. I have gone 30x longer than them without a drink. Time continues to move on along our perceived single axis, but as 3 years gone by our differences in time without a drink is much less than 1%. The more time passes, the less time makes a difference.
Time is a construct of the human need for linear explanations and expectations. When we experience déjà vu reality creeps into the veil. The big bang is still happening, the universe is still expanding. We are at the dawn and dusk of creation simultaneously.
I'm starting to understand what Wittgenstein meant when he said all philosophy is senseless: if time is an illusion then an illusion is time, which is the same as saying time is time...
Time is simply energy converting and separating til the eventual heat death of the universe. Time is always fleeing And all forms of energy converting, converts at a different rate.(relative to each other, basically what Einstein meant but didn't understand. Time is relative) As in the atoms that make up molecules. making the rates at which molecules convert. As in metal rusting, us aging, wooden tables aging (it all has to do with the molecules that make it up) It all falls into physics. Which I'm not knowledgeable to explain all that because I don't know it yet. That's why time travel isnt impossible. Unless we can somehow reverse the energy converting and have molecule down the atoms, down to the quarks retrace their exact paths. Of every single matter in existence. Energy is always converting and breaking apart til the eventual heat death of the universe. What's why absolute zero isn't possible. Do not dismiss me, just think about it. Put together the pieces. You have to knowledge in everything. From physics to biology to everything. To gain an even better understanding than I. If you could do that, you will get a Nobel prize, and be written in history books. And go down in time and history itself as one of the most "smartest" people ever. You should able to entertain an idea without accepting it as truth. It's how you gain knowledge. And solidify it. Anybody smart enough to explore my idea?
What has always bothered me since I was a child is how when a day goes, it never comes back and it will never since I die. Yet it is one thing that does not seem to bother those around me...Like after I finish writing this sentence, that is done, forever, and boom, its history.
Time only exists because humans have great memory. Thats about it. No time. All the protiens and water we are made of have no sense of time. We experience seasons from the tilt of our planet, another way that time is cemented in our brains. Our brain makes the illusion of time.
Isn't time based on how long it takes for the earth to rotate once around our Sun while it rotates on its own axis? If so then wouldn't time be different for every planet in the universe ?
There would be a relation between the two. Someone in a different part of the universe will experience the experiential equivalent of 100 Earth days in the time that it takes the Earth to rotate once around the sun…someone in yet another part of the universe will experience the equivalent of 500 Earth days in the time it takes for one Earth lap around the sun. For these three people time would have literally advanced 100 days vs 365 days vs 500 days.

However, the present of any given point in space relates to any other given point at the speed of light. The effect of this is that there cannot be a universal present where everything exists at the same time. For example, if the earth and the sun are separated by eight lightminutes earth's present and the sun's present are eight minutes apart in either direction. None of them is before or after the other, it's just a separation of causality. For me, this solves the problem with an infinite universe since it is not contained in a simultaneous present. It makes terms like "the observable universe" pointless as it becomes nothing more than an optical phenomenon. The concept of a "time-line" with a past and a future in addition to the present is entirely a product of the brain. In fact every process of the brain such as conciousness, memories, language, perception etc is a tool in the process of creating the experience of time passing. But how can things be happening all the time(!) if there is only the present? Planets, particles and energy are allowed to move about because they travel across those points in space I mentioned earlier. And as they do that they enter that point's present which is separated from the previous position at the speed of light.
Very good video. Philochrony is the theory that describes the nature of time and demonstrates its existence. Time is magnitive: objective, Imperceptible (intervals) and measurable (duration).
"Time is paramount and the experience we all have of reality being in the present moment is not an illusion, but the deepest clue we have to the fundamental nature of reality." -Lee Smolin
What if I told you that it's an illusion and that's why it's difficult to understand because illusions are magic tricks and there are props and misdirection involved in the illusion of time passing as there are with other tricks in the world of magical illusions. Would you like to understand how the trick of time passing is done.
The problem people have, myself included, is that relativistic time is not the time that we all grow up understanding really, really deep in our intelligence. Time is a clock, a constant ticking, numbers and days and years. It's also about 'getting old' which happens to everyone and we all experience in the same way. But science time, Einstein time, is a coordinate. It would be so much easier if he had called this coordinate something other than 'time' or 'timespace'. He should have just created a whole new word for it. It affects our understanding of time but it's called something else.
I often think about what it was like before I was born. There was, presumably, 13.8 billion years that I shrugged off pretty easily. I wasn't conscious so I had no perception of time. I didn't think about it much until I went under anesthesia for the first time. The experience of being switched off and back on was strange. It was 2 or 3 hours but could have been eons. Around the same time I ate what I would call 'too many mushrooms' This made me question time even further. I can't shake the feeling...the thought, that time isn't real. But it's difficult to put into words. Time is just a way to perceive and quantify the input our brains feed us. I'm pretty sure it's real because Everytime I seem to lose and then find myself, I'm in the same place. But sometimes, when I really think about it, I feel like I'm about to think myself inside-out.
No, you can. When i see my dad walk up the stairs and realize he didn't walk up the stairs I'm pretty sure that's the future/past. That's the reason I'm here lol
Time is a device designed by humans to describe causality and sequence, particularly the division of the Earth day. To go from that to explaining all phenomena in the universe with our Earthly definition is ludicrous without a theory of everything.
There are so many "educational" videos on Time, and they all say the same things, we learn nothing new, and we never reach answers we may have hoped for. Nobody knows what time is, nobody can adequately explain it. Reading more books and having more university degrees won't help.
The answer is simple. Nobody knows what time is because it is not an object; it is a simple unit of measurement, based on the earth's orbit, to measure the distance between two 'events'. Events always follow the law of entropy (cause and effect) and never the reverse. It becomes confusing because time is also used to measure velocity and distance (in MPH, KPH etc). This means that time (t) is also relative in the same way as the speed-of-light(c). If you understand why the speed-of-light(c) is relative you will also understand why time (t) is also relative (and why E=mc2).
@@pigofapilot1 I don't find it simple at all. Once aware of relativity regarding speed to the speed of light, we must accept the real implications of the relativity of time. We may have a hard time traveling at the speed of light, but light has no problem at all doing so! Approaching that speed, time approaches infinity. Also, if we accept the Big Bang, all scientists agree that prior to the Big Bang time did not exist. It is impossible for mere humans to wrap their heads around such a relative and undefined concept as time.
@@KpxUrz5745 Time is as much an artificial invention as length, weight, heigth, speed, depth, pressure, hardness etc. None of them exist in the universe but in our mind as concepts and applications. The concept of time verbally explains and defines the primitive sense called 'sense of duration" which is based on evolved memory. When you talk about time and relativity of time, you talk about an application that helps people to understand and measure things. Time exists only because a man invented it.
The part about the twins aging differently makes no sense! The aging process is something that is continuesly occurring no matter where you are. I just don't understand how the speed you travel can affect the speed of which the cells in your body grow.
Gravity and velocity physically warp time, so time itself is physically real, also because we know that time can be shifted, there is no one true time, meaning it's relative
TIME DOES NOT EXIST, it’s a measure of movement. The clock moves, the sun moves, and this is how we create (in our minds) a way of placement IN SPACE. The 4th dimension is the inverse of our 3rd dimension. In the 3rd dimension we have unlimited space and can move through that space with an artificial perception of placement in time. In the 4th dimension there is unlimited time and the soul / consciousness can move through it with an artificial perception of space. Conscious beings exist at both levels. The soul / consciousness is not bound by the limitations of space and movement just like the body is not bound by the limitations of time movement. It’s two sides of the same coin. The concept of time has been debated by scientist / physicist frequently, but if you apply simply common sense to their arguments it become easy to understand facts about our reality. This concept presents the eternal nature of our existence and is truly liberating. It removes the shackles and fear of death thereby freeing the soul and body to realize it’s true purpose / potential. I could deeply elaborate here but I believe the best advice I can give is that people recognize that choice is the true meaning of life. We must choose between selfishness (a single consciousness) OR selflessness (a harmony of multiple consciousness.) Think about it and then choose wisely.
Depends on how we define time....time is an illusion if we try to understand it without us being in the equation...but how can we understand something without being in the equation ... What else could we relate it to..... that's why it's not an illusion because our definition of time itself takes into consideration our life cycles along with objects surrounding us in this space
Time is an "illusion" because the universe is really not moving or turning. Things are just happening. Everything are just in our brain all at once. Past, present and future. When we think of something at that very moment it isn't really a past or future. They're just in our mind.
Every time I try to take time to learn more about time, I run out of time and it becomes time for me to time myself eating donuts for the record time of donuts eaten in 2 minutes time and then I have to put my son in time out, by then it’s about time to call my wife that’s currently doing time, it happens all the time
Time is An Illusion - Because when you spend a time with your unimportant doings, This may reduce because our brain focus in something, and sometimes we want to over it and the time becomes slower, But if you did All You want that is important to you, It will make the time faster, because our brain feels comfort and making happiness and doesnt remind you from taking your time limitation because our brain always think what is important
Brilliant, glad I came accross this again. It's been referenced on reddit. Here's a video that explains what creates the illusion of time. ua-cam.com/video/FDYPQIJY14s/v-deo.html I'm gonna go to reddit and send u that link. Hope all's well, take care.
Time is an emergent property, that means it does not exist on its own but comes about by the observers acknowledgement of change or movement. If there is no change, no time passes. So, gravity affects the rate of change (molecular movement), that's why gravity is said to 'warp' (bend) time. Human ageing is a chemical/organic process, we have observed many generations of such 'ageing' and are able to recognise its progress as roughly the same in most humans (say 70 years). However, we also know that individuals may have genetic or dietary differences that might affect the 'ageing' process, so life lengths can vary. 'Time' doesn't affect objects, energy and movement do. A loaf of Bread doesn't go bad because of time, we simply notice that at a particular temperature (input energy), the Sun and Moon pass overhead a certain number of times (occasions). Put the bread in a pantry or fridge and the processes and bacteria within it will move more slowly and the bread will last longer (over a longer period of observable change). My belief is, Time does not itself exist as an external energy or force and does NOT in any way drive change. Time is comparison of noticeable change, in comparison to the change in another observable. Last thing - if a water meter physically measures the amount of actual water to have passed through it, does a clock physically measure the 'time' it has come into contact with?
Time is more of a point of reference, to calculate things. Like 2 people from different ends of the earth want to meet up at a certain place, they need a time to meet, also a date. I feel like time is something we cant feel, physically, but we can see it. But only relative to the observant, like things move and look one way, free in time but we look at it or. Try to measure anything, as far as distance and movement we add time to account for movement of an object
Time passes! Times change! We hear this said everywhere, and automatically a picture arises in the spirit: We see changing times marching past us! This picture becomes so en-grained that for many it also forms a solid foundation on which they continue to build, adjusting their whole research and speculation to it. Before long, however, they encounter obstacles which contradict each other. However hard they try, not everything will fit in. They lose their way, leaving gaps that can no longer be filled in spite of all their pondering. Many then believe that in such places faith must act as a substitute for the failure of logical reasoning. But this is wrong! Man should not believe in things he cannot grasp! He must try to understand them; for otherwise he opens wide the door to errors, and with errors the Truth is always debased. To believe without understanding is just indolence, mental laziness! It does not lead the spirit upwards, but presses it down. Look upward, therefore, we are to test and investigate. Not for nothing does the urge to do so lie within us. Time! Does it really pass? Why does one encounter obstacles when thinking more deeply about this axiom? Simply because the fundamental idea is wrong; for time stands still! We, however, hurry towards it! We rush into time, which is eternal, and seek the Truth in it. Time stands still. It remains the same, today, yesterday and a thousand years hence! Only the forms change. We plunge into time, to cull from her records for the purpose of enriching our knowledge from what has been collected there! For time has lost nothing, it has recorded all things. It has not changed, because it is eternal. You too, Oh man, are always just the same, whether you appear young or old! You remain what you are! Have you not already sensed this yourself? Do you not clearly notice a difference between the form and your “ego?” Between the body that is subject to change and yourself, the spirit, which is eternal? You seek the Truth! What is Truth? What you still feel to be truth today you will recognize even tomorrow as error, in which, however, you will later again discover grains of truth! For the manifestations also change their forms. Thus your seeking continues, yet amid these changes you mature! Truth, however, remains always the same, it does not change, for it is eternal! And being eternal it can never be clearly and truly grasped by the earthly senses, which are familiar only with the change of forms! Therefore become spiritual! Free from all earthly thoughts, and then you will possess the Truth, will stand in the Truth, bathe in it, and be constantly surrounded by its pure Light, for it will envelop you completely. As soon as you become spiritual, you will swim in it. Then you need no longer study so painstakingly what science has to offer, nor need you fear errors, but you will already have the answer to every question in the Truth itself, moreover, you will no longer have any questions, because without thinking you will know all things, will embrace all things, because your spirit will live in the pure Light, in the Truth! Therefore become spiritually free! Burst all the fetters that hold you down! In The Light Of Truth (Grail Message) by Abdrushin
Time is man-made, that sounds logical to me. Every process in the universe is part of a causal chain and in order to be able to grasp and measure such processes, we have created the construct of time. That is my idea.
It seems correct my theory, there is no push and pull, the universe is seems to be purely magnetic because of the EMF end e m r of the Sun, EMF is not affected by time therefore making time an illusion.
Time is not bound to nothing, keep your theory (fallacy) to yourself. Time does not exist, it is just a concept of measure of the cycle we observe in our surroundings.
Quantum Test PJW-17 "Time is mathematically imaginary when applied to a wave function of probabilities." -someone else "Time is basically just millions of probabilities occurring sequentially per second." -me "Time helps me do homework." -Jack Netterson Test 17 has commenced, being a duplicate of test 16.
Here are the questions you must ask. Are our measurements only accurate due to our accuracy with the speed of light? When dealing with time which is objective, why are there subjective comparisons such as time on earth and time in a blackhole? ( this introduces a new variable , what has to be established is the baseline and then does earths gravity ,etc. effect on changes that we attribute to time and are ratio of the gravitational forces, etc. of black holes and and the earth ? Can this lead us back to the base line of no effect of forces and the Ratio of static change. also While we see time as one direction it is really not. Stop for a moment and consider this. Any growth , movement , thought , Etc. comes from interactions of our basic elements ( basically ripples throughout our body) we can cause the reverse to happen. the problem arises from the failure of replication. That which allows change makes it impossible to reverse for during that process there would undoubtable be some change /failure that would alter what you changed too. ( Ex every time you change water from ice to water to gas and back there is some degradation.)
The way I perceive time is rather subjective and maybe even contradictive. But time is like that by nature. Time is a subjective concept that humans created to explain the flow of existence. The man-made concept of time is an illusion, like mortality. Mortality doesn't exist. Because that would then suggest that Immortality is possible, but that simply isn't true. There is not a single example of physical Immortality in anything, everything eventually dies. It might be now, it might be in a trillion years but everything will eventually fade. They only things that are immortal are concepts themselves. Since they hold no bearing on the material plane. The existence on a different plane, they exist in our minds. To finish off this little rant, I want you to remember a simple, yet confusing quote. "The present was the past, but is currently the future."
Feel free to share your opinions on this matter. I am an open forum and am rather interested in hearing others interpretations of these subjective themes of nature and existence.
The fear of time running out is a crippling disorder. It makes you live in the past always. The inability to live in the presence is like never living. You take a vacation, but you worry about when you must go back to work! Before you know it, the vacation time is over and you couldn’t fully enjoy it! George Carlin had a genius skit about “what time is it?” He explained that by the time you finish asking the question, the right answer no longer exists! So time could be like a black hole that swallows everything that falls in it instantly, so that you never have the chance to see what falls in it! Time is meaningless without motion or change. Time is a measurement of experience and exposure. Time intriguingly is also a measure of inaction when it is associated with the agony of not doing anything, like waiting in a long line or sitting in a jail cell. According to special relativity, time dilate or stops when the object moves at the speed of light. This is because at such speed, the exposure or the amount of experience at such speed is overwhelming that the space within which the object moves is so severely distorted that it is so difficult to register any noticeable motion within it! It looks as if the world stoped moving and hence no time progression is detected! Time is an illusion because it is subject to how we perceive time. It is totally dependent on how our conscious process time. Some naps we take could feel like we slept for a very long time while a very long coma could feel like we just had a short nap! Only motion and change could measure time. Einstein genius lied in his ability to add time as another dimension to every point in space. This is to say that space is not itself a still frame of reference. It is actually very dynamic and moving objects within such space makes it even more dynamics! That’s why there is no absolute frame of reference in this universe. We could only measure our car speed relative to the surface of the street, but the latter is moving around the axis of the earth at about 1,000 miles per hour, which is also rotating around the sun completing one rotation every solar year! Everything is illusive even what you think is your measuring stick!
Times and Times. This is an example of how this language called English can have so many different spells and meanings. We are trained to think there is 365 days in a year based off a spell. It is a constant repeat of 7 days. We can’t do money that way you cant just keep recounting 10 dollars until it adds up to a thousand because it is physical and no one would let you pay them 10 dollars instead of a thousand dollars just because you recounted it a hundred times as if it was more than what it is. But we do this with days and until we bridge that gap between truth and illusions we will continue to suffer as a whole.
Perhaps we should change the term "space-time" to position-time because it does not take sequence into account. Sequence-change is what we really mean by time. If sequence-change could not exist before space-time began, it could not have happened at all.
Thank you for sharing. Space-time is a mind stuff, including the world which we think it's so real are all human illustrations. Nothing is absolute in this world. Therefore, the only choice we have, is using these "illustrations" to revert back ourselves, use them as a tools to transform our conciouness, and find out what's the true "Self". ❤️
Time only exists ,because man invented it ,to measure it , a clock for example , if we were not here then theres no point to time , as there would be no one around to measure it and experience it. Theres no point to the universe unless life exists to know it, see it and be in awe of its magnificance , to observe it .The ultimate point of the universe and everything in it , is to bring forth life and we are the evidence , the end result , so on that point, there has to be life everywhere, we are not alone . We are here ,so what more evidence do you need .I think, therefore I am , the mind and consciousness, theres no greater higher existence really .
No a higher existence exist because humans are creation it's impossible that we are just here randomly and there's is no creator which is the higher existence..
Time is nothing but movement, no movement no time, this goes for the smallest particle, gas, or if you wish the quark! We only know time ourselves because we have memory of the past, but the past is gone and no longer exists! ☕️

Our present is an illusion at micro quantum level. We simply witness the past events, all our interactions are from past. Future events unfold in front of us to witness. The events witnessing part forms our concious.
Relativity is just an optical illusion and Galilean Relativity is the correct form of Relativity. The proof is that instantaneous fields are known to exist: nearfield gravity, electric field, magnetic field, nearfield light, and quantum entanglement, which are completely incompatible with Relativity. Even light itself is instantaneous in the nearfield and reduces to the speed of light in the farfield. Inserting c=infinity into the Lorentz transformations, yields the Galilean transformations, where time and space are absolute and not interdependent, only the present exists, the past is gone, and the future is yet to be. Also in Galilean Relativity, time is synchronized in all inertial frames of reference. If a moving object is observed with speed c farfield light, Relativistic effects will be observed, but they are not real, and can be proven by changing the frequency of the light and observing the moving object with instantaneous nearfield light, where no relativistic effects will be seen. Relativity is just an optical illusion, and because all of modern physics is based on Relativity, modern physics is fundamentally wrong and needs to be rethought. Relativity has a simple built in logical fallacy, and no theory based on a logical fallacy can be true, no matter how many experiments seem to prove it, or how many people say it is true. Below is a very simple logical argument highlighting the logical fallacy, using the same terminology Einstein used to derive Relativity. According to Relativity, observers on a moving train and on a stationary train platform will disagree on the size of the ""Train"" and the passage of time on the ""Train"". This is a complete logical contradiction if the size and the passage of time of the train are real. If the size of the train is real, then the ""Train"" can not be both contracted and not contracted. The same goes for the observed passage of time on the ""Train"". If these effects are observed, then the only possible conclusion is that it is an optical illusion. Things that are real must appear to be same from all frames of reference. If not, then by definition it is an illusion. Again the argument is very simple and it is the argument Einstein used to derive Relativity, and no acceleration is used in the argument. A train with length (L) traveling at constant velocity (v) relative a stationary observer on a station platform. According to Relativity, the stationary observer will see the train contracted (L/r, where r is the Relativistic gamma), whereas an observer on the train will see it not contracted (L). So the train is both contracted (L/r) and not contracted (L) depending on the observer. This is a complete contradiction (L not equal L/r) and can not be true if length is real. The same argument applies to passage of time on the Train, where both observers will disagree on the passage of time. If time is real, it can not be both dilated and not dilated (T not equal rT). If space and time are observed to be both large and small simultaneously for one inertial reference frame, such as the ""Train"", then it must be an optical illusion. This argument is only the tip of the iceberg. There is much more evidence including both theoretical and experimental, so please keep reading. Hi my name is Dr William Walker and I am a PhD physicist and have been investigating this topic for 30 years. It has been known since the late 1700s by Simone LaPlace that nearfield Gravity is instantaneous by analyzing the stability of the orbits of the planets about the sun. This is actually predicted by General Relativity by analyzing the propagating fields generated by an oscillating mass. In addition, General Relativity predicts that in the farfield Gravity propagates at the speed of light. The farfield speed of gravity was recently confirmed by LIGO. Recently it has been shown that light behaves in the same way by using Maxwell's equations to analyze the propagating fields generated my an oscillating charge. For more information search: William Walker Superluminal. This was experimentally confirmed by measuring radio waves propagating between 2 antennas and separating the antennas from the nearfield to the farfield, which occurs about 1 wavelength from the source. This behavior of gravity and light occurs not only for the phase and group speed, but also the information speed. This instantaneous nature of light and gravity near the source has been kept from the public and is not commonly known. The reason is that it shows that both Special Relativity and General Relativity are wrong! It can be easily shown that Instantaneous nearfield light yields Galilean Relativity and farfield light yields Einstein Relativity. This is because in the nearfield, gamma=1since c= infinity, and in the farfield, gamma= the Relativistic gamma since c= farfield speed of light. Since time and space are real, they can not depend on the frequency of light used. This is because c=wavelength x frequency, and 1 wavelength = c/frequency defines the nearfield from the farfield. Consequently Relativity is an optical illusion. Objects moving near the speed of light appear to contract in length and time appears to slow down, but it is just what you see using farfield light. Using nearfield light you will see that the object has not contracted and time has not changed. For more information: Search William Walker Relativity. Since General Relativity is based on Special Relativity, General Relativity must also be an optical illusion. Spacetime is flat and gravity must be a propagating field. Researchers have shown that in the weak field limit, which is what we only observe, General Relativity reduces to Gravitoelectromagnetism, which shows gravity can be modeled as 4 Maxwell equations similar in form to those for electromagnetic fields, yielding Electric and Magnetic components of gravity. This theory explains all gravitational effects as well as the instantaneous nearfield and speed of light farfield propagating fields. So gravity is a propagating field that can finally be quantized enabling the unification of gravity and quantum mechanics. The current interpretation of quantum mechanics makes no sense, involving particles that are not real until measured, and in a fuzzy superposition of states. On the other hand, the Pilot Wave interpretation of Quantum Mechanics makes makes much more sense, which says particles are always real with real positions and velocities. The particles also interact with an energetic quantum field that permeates all of space, forming a pilot wave that guides the particle. This simpler deterministic explanation explains all known quantum phenomena. The only problem is that the Pilot Wave is known to interact instantaneously with all other particles, and this is completely incompatible with Relativity, but is compatible with Galilean Relativity. But because of the evidence presented here, this is no longer a problem, and elevates the Pilot Interpretation to our best explanation of Quantum Mechanics. *UA-cam presentation of above argument: ua-cam.com/video/sePdJ7vSQvQ/v-deo.html *Paper it is based on: William D.
I see memory's different than "time" to me time is a construct, dam handy fourth dimension! as for memories, are they coded chemicals in neurons I guess,

So, we are able to see another Reality and maybe Everything that today is still unseen for us or even "The Greater Face Of God" Can we see.... And All Praised for The Lord Of The Worlds.. Allah The Almighty One..The Sustainer And All-Encompassed One Of All Realities....
All Realities is just Product Of One Consciousness.. In islam we call Him Allah, but He has another 99 of Name/Nature/Attributes that sign to pursuing Him The Real One...

His Throne extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation tires Him not. And He is the Most High, the Most Great"*_(Quran, 2:255)
What we call a reality/existence/thought is just God Knowledge that we can access in the moment..
Exactly! Because there is God Awareness... Perfection, Balance, glorious, or beauty.. Is another name/nature/attribute of God... Everything you see or facing (physically or mentally) is Face Of God.. Including yourself....

Because everything is exist in His Consciousness,in fact everything is only God Knowledge that become a "matter/form/physical", so literally everything is Face Of God.. We all exist is just to serve God existence.. To Fulfill God Existence.. Thanks God, we are all exist. 🥰❤

@@dyinginsidelol how does this explain people ageing faster on other planets with a strong gravity or people ageing slower moving near the speed of light
@@danielkwon6047 but how does gravity do that to time... is it because of light
I think there is no gap between past, present and future. As I'm writing this, I've been to past, present and future simultaneously.
The past present and the future are human experiences. I doubt if it has anything to do with what's actually going on in the universe. Let's say there was no human or anylife existed till date....now tell me what's the past present and future? Don't ask me i dont know the answer too...
i read ur comment but i didnt understand anything
An alien race would probably have come up with something similar, right? Theyd also wanna measure what we call time to move along physics.
Time is an abstraction of a "tranformation" perception. Clocks just measures cicle movements.

Oh my goodness, I didn’t know I needed this until this exact moment! Sending lots of gratitude and love
Time is the illusion not his death
I, hopefully, fully understand what you mean. we have to live as our lives as we (human species) perceive it or meant to perceive it using what our bodies provided us with. Even if this "illusion" throery proves to be correct it wont matter to us if our human brain cannot comprehend it anyway. so its a very fair point you make

WHAT IS TIME?
General relativity - Time is part of the physical fabric of the Universe, a dimension that can be stretched and warped by gravity
Thermodynamics - Time is an irreversible arrow pointing from the past to the future, in the direction of increasing entropy
Quantum mechanics - time is a number that you plug into an equation. It can run forwards or backwards
Rational definition of time: a comparisons of 2 motions. Time ONLY requires MEMORY & MOTION!
TIME IS A NUMBER LINE - YOU CANNOT BEND/CURVE/WARP A NUMBER LINE!
e.g. of definition of time = comparing the motion of the clock hands vs movement of earth or the photon
Just because a clock ticked slower does not mean time slowed or was dilated!
Our model on space and time is founded on measurement and corresponds better to physical reality.”
p.s. one comment re: measurements (that many physicists use, incorrectly, as evidence for understanding) - just because we have measured a parameter e.g. the gravitational constant to the nth degree does NOT mean we understand its physical derivation.
good "answer", but like others explanantion of something is not the definition of something...however ordinality or the counting of something does indeed carry more human meaning to sequentialy listing events, your answer is the best so far

The methodology of a speculative temporal philosophy
With the scientific development pointing into a certain direction across various disciplines, that time could only be an illusion, accompanied by a societal consensus vis-a-vis this conception, i decided to try and concept a new view on the philosphy of timelessness.
The understanding of those terms, demands a high level of cognitive devotion to the following premise:
Time does only exist as a mental construct.
Since there is no temporal Order of things, common physical equations have to be translated into the language of temporal philosophy as seen below:
A system moving at the speed v changes its state at a rate lower by a facotr of (1 − v2/c2)−1/2
than the system in the rest frame, meaning that every human life( if and as long as it has a concept of time )represents such a now complex, in which time is to be found, but only within the boundaries of the associated mind.
It will take some effort and will be discussed in different parts of this treatment but we will be able to split life into 4 categories:
unaware life
Aware life
Selfaware life
Selfaware life aware of timelessnes
Intuitivly less accessible and harder to visualize is going the be the approach to put a moral value on certain action, since the calculation will be determined by variable views on time, simply because life of every categories includes certain aspects of the previous categories and you will have to consider all possible angles on time before even trying on depicting a normative ethics of timelessness.
1) Time doesn't exist
2) There is only the now
3) What we call time, is like an inch/meter - a measuring device
So, all time measurements are based upon and factored from the rotation of the earth. We can measure a number of events and create any number of time scales from there. As long as we think of time as a ruler, it all works out.
Also, there is no back or forward in time. We cannot go back as there is nothing to go back to. We cannot go forward as there is nothing to go to. There is only the present, now.
Very nicely put. Crystal clear and brief.
You can't say we're living the in the present now as by that time it would've become past then past becomes future and future becomes past so it's kind of a paradox there's no present time unless we freeze time and stop it from marching forward then there'd be no future but a past would exist because that's in our memories
There's no "now" it already becomes past and I think we'll never reach the future (future>present>past and so on) but time is definitely marching forwards
We don't get younger we don't stop growing we only grow older the changes of the past are irreversible

The biological changes absolutely take place. But, if we change the measurement, i.e. so many Oreos eaten, does it change anything?
Perhaps a better analogy is a cars odometer. We measure the car by how many miles it has traveled. But, does a mile exist independently or is it something we created to have a frame of reference?
Time is an abstraction of a “transformation” perception. Clocks just measure circle movements. Life has already been somewhat pre destined and the decisions you think you are making out of “free will” aren’t actually happening now. What you perceive as time is actually just space
Predestined by who/what?
it's easy to understand, for instance, does 1 foot exist? or did we create that unit of measurement?
The same is true of time, we created it so we can make sense of our reality.

Time is simply energy converting and separating til the eventual heat death of the universe. Time is always fleeing
And all forms of energy converting, converts at a different rate.(relative to each other, basically what Einstein meant but didn't understand. Time is relative)
As in the atoms that make up molecules.
making the rates at which molecules convert.

Time only exists because humans have great memory. Thats about it. No time. All the protiens and water we are made of have no sense of time. We experience seasons from the tilt of our planet, another way that time is cemented in our brains. Our brain makes the illusion of time.
"Time is an illusion--Lunchtime doubly so!"--

Isn't time based on how long it takes for the earth to rotate once around our Sun while it rotates on its own axis? If so then wouldn't time be different for every planet in the universe ?
There would be a relation between the two. Someone in a different part of the universe will experience the experiential equivalent of 100 Earth days in the time that it takes the Earth to rotate once around the sun…someone in yet another part of the universe will experience the equivalent of 500 Earth days in the time it takes for one Earth lap around the sun. For these three people time would have literally advanced 100 days vs 365 days vs 500 days.

The times that I’ve stopped dissociating in school I somehow did 4 years of math within a 6month time frame. Time goes really slow for me and I still don’t know why. But This video made me feel better about it
This is what I answered one of the comments but I will put it here too since I think this is quite an interesting physical/astronomical/philosophical/biological problem.
I will try to describe my view of what "time" is:
In the physical reality the only time is the present.
"Time is paramount and the experience we all have of reality being in the present moment is not an illusion, but the deepest clue we have to the fundamental nature of reality."
-Lee Smolin
Everything we talk about around time can be slower somewhere else except for time itself
Wrong, time here is normal but time near a black hole can be warped
you did not listen to the mounteverest example
Time is a human convenience, as well as an conundrum we'll never fully understand.
Around the same time I ate what I would call 'too many mushrooms'
This made me question time even further.
All I know we moving forward , we cannot go back, past ,present,future...
Everything could actually be going backwards right now, but we'd have no way of knowing.
Can it be?
Nothing is really moving. The universe itself isn't moving at all. It's a constant presence. Time really is just an illusion.
@@anotherstupidfeature But there is a real difference in when events occur. That difference (called time) existed before any man existed.
@@KpxUrz5745 The differencies existed but that's not time. Time is only a verbal way to explain the differencies.
@@michaeledwards190 Hence the title The Theory of Relativity.
We must choose between selfishness (a single consciousness) OR selflessness (a harmony of multiple consciousness.)
Think about it and then choose wisely.
Every time I try to take time to learn more about time, I run out of time and it becomes time for me to time myself eating donuts for the record time of donuts eaten in 2 minutes time and then I have to put my son in time out, by then it’s about time to call my wife that’s currently doing time, it happens all the time
My brain hurts
Time is An Illusion
- Because when you spend a time with your unimportant doings, This may reduce because our brain focus in something, and sometimes we want to over it and the time becomes slower, But if you did All You want that is important to you, It will make the time faster, because our brain feels comfort and making happiness and doesnt remind you from taking your time limitation because our brain always think what is important

Time is something that we invented

Time is man-made, that sounds logical to me. Every process in the universe is part of a causal chain and in order to be able to grasp and measure such processes, we have created the construct of time. That is my idea.

Time does not exist if there is no living thing to observe and experience it. All life is made of, is time.
Time is something that simply lies outside our ability to perceive it, exist but we cannot do anything about it,

I think time is the net result of movement, imagine if everything in the universe just frozen, there will be no time
I came here because my damn g shock won’t ever stay set at one time so I’m starting to think it must know something I don’t... 🤔
