We’re forgetting a key point … it took the team almost 2 seasons to start linking up a bit and have some chemistry and now we are talking about changing almost the entires line of forwards.

If my memory serves me correctly Bulka was a very good goalkeeper.
We’re decent up front and improving the squad quality will help. However it’s at the back where we had problems all season and without defensive improvement, we’ll never challenge at the top.
One of the biggest mistakes we made last season was that we didn't have the size to take set-pieces, which was detrimental to us last season, and yes it's a reality, that's why we brought in a kicking coach to work on that, so why take on a short player given that that was our problem, in terms of height we're 18th out of all the clubs in England. For me we need to change that by bringing in someone who is physically there, who has good ball protection and who is technically good, which is why the board has set its sights on Sesko. Almost all the clubs in the league have size in attack, so why are we in trouble again this season? Didn't we understand our mistakes or what? Alvarez is not the right choice for the future of the club and the attack.

To challenge you can only lose four games max. No matter how good the players are it will take time for them to adjust to such a strategic game plan. Multiple positions during multiple phases of play incredibly orchestrated. Furthermore there are multiple players for each role in a Maresca game plan - Lavia, Caicedo, Fernandez in the Winks pivot. If one doesn't hit the ground running there will be instant pressure to change it. It took Poch almost a year - Even if Maresca is quicker it will be a miracle if he gets it right on day one.

Don't forget there is Casedei, Ugochukwu, and Santos who can play in that same role too.
