      You have made a wise decision. This series is a focus on murder but there are an incredible amount of rapes aboard these cruise liners, also. It is a recipe for disaster when you are thrown together with people that you have no idea about their backgrounds or criminal history. The cabins are easy to break into and there are those aboard the ship for the purpose of criminal activity, whether it be the staff or other passengers. Add into the mix free flowing alcohol and those who don't know when to stop and the risk is just too great.

      @lisas8244 3 роки тому +5

      @@robintam8222 Are you not aware there are many other ways to vacation or travel without boarding a floating city? It definitely is not my idea of a vacation being stuck with the many obnoxious drunks who frequent cruises. Being packed like sardines with people you wouldn't choose to be with for days is not my idea of a "vacation". Then you add in the fact that cruises are a magnet for unsavory characters who are up to no good on a grand scale, as well as employees whose backgrounds have not been checked and I have no desire to be in that element at all. Any place else that something undesirable happens, you can just walk away. Obviously, you can't just walk off a cruise ship. You're stuck for the duration.

    • @robintam8222
      @robintam8222 3 роки тому +7

      @@lisas8244 I never implied cruising was the only acceptable forms of vacation. My point was don't miss out on a desired experience because of what could happen. As I stated cruising isn't for everyone, but she won't know if it's for her until she actually goes on one.
      Additionally, if the "undesirable" has occurred, it's too late to walk away at that point. The damage is already done.

    While I'm truly sorry this happened to this amazing human being, the number one rule is you NEVER TAKE YOUR EXPENSIVE PRECIOUS JEWELRY ON BOARD A CRUISE SHIP!!!! I sold fashion jewelry for a friend of mine in Atlanta GA for many years. We would always have ladies that came in and shopped our fashion jewelry for cruises that they were going on. Our fashion jewelry was top of the line in fashion. So much so that we had many celebrities that shopped with us. I personally waited on Janet Jackson, Joyce Meyer, people shopping for the films that were being made in Atlanta, buyers for fashion shows in NY, etc. The thing is if you're going on a cruise and want to look the part, NEVER EVER EVER TAKE THE REAL THING ON BOARD!!!! You are asking for trouble. Even if you lose the fashion jewelry, what are you out? Meanwhile, you can still look fabulous and look the part when you dress up, with the fashion jewelry without the worry of something like this happening to you! Use your brain! I'm terribly sorry this happened to this woman and her family.🙏

    What are they talking about, making a first impression on people on a cruise? Everyone is there with their own group, save an occasional casual comment. You come to dinner alone, you sit there alone, and basta, no matter how you dress. I know bc I've been on cruises alone...ah, i see, "She doesn't seem to be making any new friends aboard the ship." WELL THAT MAKES SENSE. This is exactly what happens: you do NOT make friends on a cruise. And that writer lady goes again, on and on about how you can meet all sorts of people on a cruise... wake up. Why are people blaming Betsy for her death for standing up to that man who was abusing his wife when that man wasn't even who killed her? It was because an expensive earing fell under the bed for the maid to find that led to the maid robbing her. But it sounds like Betsy may have regaled the maid with stories about her vintage jewelry pieces which may have led to her demise.

      @@gurutruecrimeguru1405 I didn't blame her for her death. I'm just pointing out something that she did wrong, the one who needs to stand up to the husband is the wife. Unless there is physical abuse, people make it worse when they get in between couples arguing. At the end of the day, the other party to the argument will keep putting up with it until they've had enough. All relationships have arguments and rough times, imagine every stranger getting in the middle of arguments. In any case she could've approached the wife separately and asked her if she needed help.

      Her body was found overboard but nobody was ever convicted of her murder.
      During the cruise, Jessie had a maid who looked after her, shortly after her murder the maid went missing, as did the money and jewelry. The maid is the primary suspect in this case, if not of murder, of at least theft.

      It's either supposition, comes from diaries or from people who'd talked with them and knew what they'd been thinking. But even writing non fiction you have to make some guesses about what people were thinking in order to tell a compelling story. These stories have had names changed and maybe certain things embellished for the sake of telling the story. They've changed all the names for everyone in this series which isn't usually done with true crime. The story of Sadie actually occurred in the 1950s with Sadie's real name being Lynn which explains the "all male jury" I was like what? Surely that doesn't happen these days. Then I find out the story is from the 50s. So Sadie's best friend in that story is actually an actor.
