Great video and great attitude for life! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you, I had fun with this video. 😁
Just bought one of these a couple months ago to replace a Nespresso machine. Very impressed! Also it'll pay for itself without having to buy those stupid coffee pods in less than a year. Absolutely amazing machine for the money. Love your review.
Also, I have to admit I had no idea what or where a San Juan island was. I had to google it and now I kind of want to go...
Come visit! You will pass through my town of Anacortes to get on the Ferry. 😁
@@BryanKlein a ferry? Seems kinda fancy.

@@BryanKlein Yep, super fancy. Now I have to come check it out!
Coffee controlled weather, who knew that was a thing?! I just bought this machine. I love it! But the weather here still is cruddy and cold.
Hot cappuccino makes it better.
Almost anything can be beautiful with the right state of mind. This machine helps me get to that state daily. 🙂
I come from far away country. How do you control weather with coffee maker? You make sunshine can you also rain? Is setting on machine? Please new video on weather control.
This is one of the most entertaining videos I've seen in a while...you definitely should do more (and drink more cappuccino at the same time!) BTW, I just decided to join you with one of the great machines...if it improves the weather even just the slightest in the northeast then you get my vote for god!
Haha, thank you! I had fun recording it. I know it will make your life better, one delicious cup at a time. ☕
Let's take a look, shall we? You're SOOOO official! :)
Haha! This is a super-serious video about important matters. I've gotta bring my best words to the Tubes.
Could you add alternate milks and get the same results?
I think so, we have tried quite a few (heavy cream, half-and-half, whole, 2%, rice, almond, silk), and some foam better than others. I would say to be careful of the thickness or viscosity of the milk used. If it is too thick it won't flow easily up the capillary tube to the venturi for steaming and frothing. This happens most famously with whipping cream. The thickness of Half-and-Half is about as thick as we have been able to go. We just stir in a bit of water to thin out the heavier milks when needed.
You're the best nerd I've ever seen on the UA-cams.
I love your strong bias on this topic.
Well great video hahaha I know is an iPhone and not o e of those fancy camera but is very clear both a audio and image and you do a very nice close up to the machine and coffee,is funny I’ve seen like 10 UA-cam channels dedicated specially to this kind of machines very professional!!! but they speak like parrots and don’t show the actual machine close and how it brew man hahahaha you!! did a great job thanks.
Thank you! Also, this was shot with a Pixel 3XL and has very basic camera hardware, but some nice software to make the video less shaky and easier to watch. I didn't do any editing either, I just recorded the video on the phone and posted to UA-cam. :D One thing I realized after the video was how loud the speaker playing ocean sounds in the room came through the video. There is lots of white noise and that is from the speaker not the machine. Oh well, lesson learned. :D
Bryan Klein anyways my point was that the video was clear and the audio was good enough much better than channels with a set up
Of dslr cameras and lights in a studio lol 😂..the price on these machines are around 700-1000 right?
@@manrex5238 Thank you and yep I got mine for around $700 USD.
Hi Bryan my girlfriend and u have this machine and love it. I’ve noticed recently some of the pucks aren’t fully formed. I was wondering how to remedy that. Also how do you clean the machine , the brew group , have you cleaned the grinder as well ? Sorry for all the questions thanks
Hello Michael! I am not sure what your grinder setting is set to, but I have found that if I go too fine, then I don't get enough 'volume' of grounds into the brew group basket and it ends up making a more 'soupy' mix without a nicely pressed puck. So, you might try moving the grind setting knob to a more coarse position, I have mine set somewhere between 6 and 9. It could also be that the grinder is a bit clogged up, especially if the beans you have been running through it are too oily. I am not sure the best way to clean the grinder out, I have never done it and the only video I have found related to that is a fairly comprehensive disassembly of the whole unit, so I would leave that as a last resort and try seeing if just changing the grind setting does the trick. Also, it might take a couple of grinds for the changes to reflect in the consistency of the puck. Finally, I really liked this video to show a deep cleaning of the brew unit. ua-cam.com/video/HGmfnGN_JQA/v-deo.html one note is that I did not have a glass bead/ball at the end of the screen, mine was more of a little cylindrical stopper at the end of the spring. The taper of the spring does matter, so keep an eye on that part and put it back the same way. I also didn't use anything special for the cleaner. I just used dawn dish soap to degrease and clean all the little bits with a small brush.
I did find this video that might be a good method for cleaning the grinder too. Not the same model of machine, but similar enough that many of the same steps should work. ua-cam.com/video/5iV8lj65Az4/v-deo.html
I live up by Lynden,WA. just bought this machine love it so far! where did you get that awesome double walled mug? i must have it!
Hey fellow Washingtonian! 😊 I got two different mug styles from Amazon. They do an excellent job of keeping the contents warm, especially compared to stoneware or ceramic mugs.
BTäT- Insulated Coffee Mug,... www.amazon.com/dp/B07QF2TF4D
and
JoyJolt Cadus Glass Coffee Cups... www.amazon.com/dp/B07G1XQ1NQ
The one without the funky shape inside has a thinner rim and is a bit easier to drink from but I really like them both.
One note, they are vacuum sealed, so if they are dropped and break it's quite a show. But we've only dropped one since 2019 when we bought both sets.
@@BryanKlein thanks Bryan! do you know if there is a way to make the volume of coffee set to a higher volume more than the 3 dots on the water?

I'm contemplating to get a lattego, but I beliv that it does not have a "froth milk only" function for drink like hot choc. Do come across any hack for this? Mind to share?

I wish I lived where you live 😭
I spent most of my life in other places. It is a beautiful place in the world for sure. I don't know where you are, but hopefully you can find a place like this to be some day.
I live in sunny ol England 😑 But I’ve ordered this machine to try and make my days a little brighter 😂
Thanks for the review and making coffee great again. I like strong americanos and some of the other reviews shows what looks like a diluted americano/coffee. What has your experience been and do you have any tips to get a good and strong americano?
Sorry, I just saw your comment. I also like strong coffee, but people seem to have different ideas of what 'strong' means. Some think 'strong' is the flavor of over-roasted (burned) dark roast beans. Some think of "strong" as a good buzz from beans with higher caffeine content (typically from more of a medium roast). So it probably depends on what strong means to you. As for brewing an 'Americano' with more 'flavor' into the cup, you could set the 'bean' setting on max (which adds more grinds to the puck). Then set the water volume setting to a lower set point. This should flow less water through more beans during the extraction process before adding hot water at the end. I would also probably set the grind settings to a more 'fine' setting to increase the surface area that the water can come into contact with (not all the way to #1 on the dial, just more toward that end than the other). For maximum control over the final product, I would probably just extract a couple of 'Espresso' brews to get 'shots' in the cup, then use the hot water option to add in water to your preference.
Hi ...
how to raise the heat in this machine?
🌹🌹
1 Press the on/off button to switch off the machine.
2 When the machine is switched off: press and hold the coffee quantity icon until the lights in this
icon go on.
3 Tap the quantity icon to select the required temperature: normal, high or max.
- Respectively 1, 2 or 3 lights are on.
4 When you have finished setting the coffee temperature, press the start/stop button.
5 Press the on/off button to switch on the machine again.
Can you use the lattego milk by itself and not with coffee? For example if you wanna use nice foamy milk for a hot coco for example?
Yep, I use it for that quite often. The trick is to use the Macchiato mode and press and hold the bean icon until the "scoop of grounds" is lit up. This way it won't activate the grinder and when the milk is finished you just press the stop button and it will skip the part where it would use your pre-ground beans for the shot.
Ah great stuff. Thanks for that and the quick reply too! Keep the content coming💯🎉
Thx for the review, how high is that glass, what’s the max size hight you can put in there?
You can fit a 6 inch (~15 cm) tall container under the spout. For multiple brews, I use a shorter and wider measuring cup type of container and then pour that into a larger cup. You can set the water volume in the machine, but the default max volume is around 16 ounces (~473 mL).
@@BryanKlein thx mate!!! 🙏
Nice review. How can I get hot milk from the machine. Also, can I prepare different coffees? ( Like flat white etc.)
Thank you for the kind comment. If all you want is hot milk, you can use the Latte Macchiato button to steam the milk. The trick is to press the 'bean' button so that the scoop of grounds is selected, this will keep the machine from grinding beans. Then after the milk steaming phase, just press the run/stop button to skip the coffee extraction step and you will have a cup of steamed milk. For a flat white, unfortunately this machine isn't a human barista, (it would be sorta weird to keep on of them in my kitchen) 😆 and there are some limitations to the mechanical steaming/foaming process. I personally enjoy a flat white too, and when I was in New Zealand in March I asked a real-life Barista there what exactly is a flat white. He told me that the classic flat white is a Latte that uses a higher coffee to milk ratio and has less foam with only a thin (up to 20 mm) layer of microfoam at the top (this is the flat part, basically very little foam). That if you let the drink sit for a moment after the espresso is added that the crema from the coffee and the foam from the milk merge together a bit more to make a very velvety layer to enjoy a sample from with each sip.
So, how can we get close with this machine? What I do is set the bean to the high point. The water volume and the milk to the lowest levels. This will result in a higher 'strength' espresso shot with less milk volume in the cup (typical ratio in a flat white). Then choose the Latte Macchiato setting and let it go. When it is done, I use a spoon to remove most of the foam at the top (the largest bubbles) to leave a thin layer of microfoam at the surface. In the end I have a more coffee forward latte with a very thin layer of microfoam at the top. I let it sit for a minute after removing the top foam, then use a stir rod or spoon to reach down through the top foam and gently mix the milk and espresso together. Ok, that's about it. If you try one for yourself, please let me know how it goes, or if you would change anything. I've gotta go make myself one now. 😁
@@BryanKlein wow, how detailed explanation. Thank you man
@@Fenerli839 I'd say that if you like a bit more zoom to the brew, you could follow up the first brew with an additional shot of espresso and stir that in.
Hi, if you get hot water only. Will it have a hint of coffe taste? Im wondering if i could use the hot water function for instant noodles etc.
No, when you select hot water it comes from the same nozzle that is used for the steaming attachment. I use it for noodles and water for tea and hot chocolate.
@@BryanKlein thanks. I ended up buying this machine.
@@TrygveL Cool! I hope it works great for you!
Hi Bryan, after almost 1 year how are you satisfied with machine? Can you pour milk from frother to milk jug and make latte art ?
Hello, great questions. First, I am still very satisfied with it and we have run 2-4 brews per day through it since we bought it. It is also a must have for visitors when they stop by. I am glad I bought it when I did, since it has been a daily luxury for us while at home most of the year.
Second, as for the fancy foam tricks, I don't do that. We do have a frother and I could probably figure out how to make cool designs, but it's not something I'm interested in doing.
@@BryanKlein Hello Bryan, I appreciate your time to take video and answer :)
So I have used my machine about 3 doz dozen times. It does not make very frothy or high volume drinks. The milk is hardly used and the shots seem very bitter regardless what roast or beans I use. What grind setting should I be using and what milk? I despise low fat and nondairy. I prefer high fat milks.
I have the grind setting with the marker on the left between the 8th and 9th dots on the knob. I only have used whole milk or a dilution of 50% Heavy Cream and 50% Water. You have to dilute the Heavy Cream or it won't flow up the channel to the steaming chamber. I usually go with Medium Roast beans with good results on flavor. For volume, if I set everything to the highest level, 'flavor' and 'water volume' and choose the 2x Coffee setting, I fill up a 16 oz mug. What settings are you using? I can try to recreate it here.
I will say, that most of the time I drink Coffee, Americano or Espresso directly without any milk added.
I tried heavy cream. That was the problem. I will use the mixture of water and cream next time. I prefer keto very low sugar drinks, or straight black. I will see it that grind setting helps, also. I tried 2% I had on hand and it was MUCH frothier, and had more appropriate volume. Thank you for the tips. I'll let you know on the grind. I just ran an Americano.
Much much improved...tasting better and longer pull...I'll try the double shots and see how close it is to 30 seconds
@@tkdman69 you might also play with the water temperature settings and see how that changes the flavor.
What’s your grinding number?
I have mine set at 7, which seems to do well for medium roast beans.
Amazing review! Simple, short and to the point! Thank you ... Greetings from Bahrain :)
Thank you, I hope it was fun and informative.
Очень хорошо!!!👍
Спасибо!
Please say of this is normal. We just bought it and have started out first brew. We find the normal coffee looking brown in our glass not black coffee look.
Also we have just brewed a cappuccino the drop part for water is empty. When we are finish brewing it there is like 2-4cl of spill water with fine grind coffee in it we have to empty out. We have no idea where this comes from. Not from the 2 holds that deposit the coffee. Must come from the inside som where.. Is this normal
Yes, there is another way for the hot pressurized water to be released into the tray inside the unit.
Also, the coffee has a lighter color at first, where it seems to have some air in the liquid. After a little while the air rises to the top and my coffee is a typical darker black color.
@@BryanKlein okay. Thanks
Is it normal to see grinded dry coffee on the back side of the motor?? Not it the grind basket and deposit tray. But on the side facing the backside

Thanks for the correction, I think I meant to say superautomatic and not semi-automatic. www.seattlecoffeegear.com/shop-gear/espresso-machines/superautomatic
What number is your grinder ?
I think it is set to 7 right now. I usually use medium roast coffee and it works well for that.
@@BryanKlein thanks alot 👍
Just bought this. I'm happy now.
May your life be full of joy, health and delicious coffee. 🙂
this is what I'm looking for hehe straight to the point thanks
😊👌
I've got this machine but the espresso shots are very thin and weak. What settings are you using for grind size and temperature to get the results shown in the video?
I set the grind to around 7 on the scale. I think the bean matters too. I have all the other settings like flavor and water volume at the max setting. Hope this helps. 😁
Hi, I just got the machine, don't know much about coffee settings. may I know what are your grinder settings?
Hello, it depends on the beans, but I usually leave mine around 6. You can go finer (3-5) for lighter roasts and more coarse (7-9) for darker roasts. It does take 2-3 grinds to fully transition from one grind setting to another, as there is a small chute that connects the grinder to the opening where the grounds drop down into the brew group. If you open the little door on the top of the machine and look down into it (might need a light), you can see the grounds drop down from the chute.
@@BryanKlein gotta do a bit more research on type of roasts. I've watched your videos for this particular machine. Really helpful 😃👍
@@BryanKlein also another question what are your temperature settings at?
@@Saufiuddin I set the temperature to the highest level. I haven't tested anything else.
@@Saufiuddin here is a bunch of good information. www.wholelattelove.com/blogs/articles/best-coffee-for-super-automatics
This machine looks amazing!! How long have you had it and have you had any problems with the machine at all? Also is phillips continuing to make this machine? Their website has been saying "out of stock" for several days now ☹
I bought it 11 months ago and haven't had any problems at all. I bought mine from Seattle Coffee Gear website.
@@BryanKlein omg they finally have them in stock yessss!!!!
Another question you clicked Cappuccino with full flavor coffee. Is there a way to add extra coffee to make it even stronger?
@@sauce6421 I suppose you could put some extra grounds in the top of the machine during the grind phase of the brew. I would just worry about putting too much in and increasing the stress on the brew group when it presses the grounds into a puck. The other option is to make the grind a bit more fine, for more surface area exposed to the water, but I've had good success with my grind setting around 9 and medium roast coffee. Please note that it does take a few grind cycles for changes to the grind setting to push the grounds through the little chute and into what is brewed. I found out from an authorized service center that there is a chute between the grinder and the brew group. Which means that the cup of coffee you are brewing now uses some grounds from 2-3 grinds prior. If you look down into the hatch at the top of the unit you can see the grinds drop out of the chute and into the brew group when grinding.
@@BryanKlein I got it!!! Yes! Lol hey how do you Personally clean the little chute where you throw in the coffee with the scoop? The only way I can think of is probably cleaning it with a Qtip im afraid to throw water down the scoop hole
Christmas bonus look out! How long had you owned it when you made the video?
I think I received it on Dec. 4th last year and I posted the video on Dec. 6th, so about 2 days. I bought mine from Seattle Coffee Gear.
FYI the settings you are using = 11 grams of coffee to 80 grams of water which is pretty dang weak for espresso. 200 ml of milk
I did measure 8-12 grams of coffee from my grinder, but where do you come up with 80 grams of water?
@@BryanKlein level 3 water is 80 ml. Level 1 is 35ml
@@saleen12 where does this information come from? I looked in the manual. Also, I think level 3 can be customized, but I don't remember ever changing it from the factory default.
😉 enjoy
Help!! Espresso pours too fast. How to decrease the pump pressure??
I'm not sure how to change the pressure. What setting are you at for the grounds? The smallest dot is #1 and the largest dot is #12.
What settings are you using for 'flavor' and 'water volume'?
@@BryanKlein hi, i try now the smallest to size for grinding. I tried all options but still an espresso in 8 seconds is too fast. Hopefully there is a hidden screw where i can reduce the pressure ...
@@hha9232 try 3 of them before you change anything else. It might take a couple of grinds before the fine grind makes it to the brew group.
When I set both the bean (flavor) and water volume to level 3, a shot takes 18 seconds to pour. I also have the grind setting to #2. The shot was really good, great flavor and nice layer of crema.
@@BryanKlein Is the machine not choking on #2 grind?
I ordered mine yesterday! I can't wait for it to arrive.
Welcome to the club! :D
I just purchased one online. It was the carafe that sold me - so simple and easy to clean. I make my caps with homemade cashew milk so hoping I get some good froth.
That's great! So far we have had good results from Almond Milk, 50% Heavy Cream + 50% Water and Whole Milk. We haven't tried cashew milk yet. I will say that Heavy Cream without water dilution would not draw up the small channel into the steaming chamber. With some water to thin it out enough to flow it foams up beautifully. I hope you enjoy yours as much as we have. 😁
How is it working out for you?
I've been making caps for ~ 1 month now. Still not there yet. I don't think I have my settings quite there. There seems to be alot of water that comes through after the shot. Making my espresso watery. Not sure what to do.
@@mscalucas that's interesting, do you have the water volume on the lowest setting?
@@mscalucas also, how do your 'pucks' look after brewing? Solid and a bit damp or loose and watery?
Do you still have it? Is it holding up
Yep, like 6000 brews later. Still cranking great coffee!
Great sense of humour.🥰
Thank you 🌟
Thank you for sharing your experience I appreciate it!
And that's what I appreciate about ya.
What's with that tick-tock sound while pouring the milk?
I'm not sure what you are referring to. Do you mean while the milk is steaming? I only hear the steam spinning the milk in the heating/foaming chamber. I don't hear another sound during that time.
Can you save the settings so you don’t have to redo it ever time?
Once the adjustments are set, for temperature, volume, etc. you should only have to select what 'brew' you want and hit play.
i guess you can't make 2 cappucinos at the same time?
I don't think so, as the steaming cup only has one spout to pour the coffee into a cup.
Why in such a bit cup so little cappuchino??
It's a single shot of espresso, streamed milk and foam on top. What part of that combination do you think there should be more of in a single serving?
@@BryanKlein i wonder how large cup you can make with this machine at once, cause we like large or very high cups (like twice ordinary cup).
I see, the cappuccino option only does one serving at a time. But you could run it twice or more depending on the volume you want. You could also control the whole process manually and run just the espresso mode for as many shots as you like followed by the cappuccino mode with the "scoops of grounds" option so it doesn't grind beans and then press the stop button immediately after the milk serving is finished. You can run that as many times as you like to add the milk and foam to the desired quantity.
I will say that I work from home and I've become spoiled with this machine. I don't need to take my beverages with me anywhere, so I typically make single servings at a time and make a fresh one whenever I want another. But I can see wanting huge mugs to go and needing to run the cycle more than once.
Also, just for reference, the glass I am using in the video holds a bit over 200 ml.
Thank you :)
Really enjoyed your video. Put me over the top after watching many others on the LatteGo. I pulled the trigger 10 minutes ago. I was afraid to after reading some comments below and other UA-cam comments. They either loved it or were disappointed. Same on Amazon. My conclusion was after reading yours was more the settings than anything else. Max = good thing lol. I am reading stay away from oily beans, Do you have beans you could recommend in addition to the SanJuan beans? Thanks again!
I usually aim for a medium roast espresso bean. But I haven't run a medium roast through this machine that I haven't liked yet. Oily beans are ok, but usually it's a sign of over roasting and will require a little more cleaning in the assembly and potentially in the grinder, but I haven't had to do that yet. I hope you enjoy it, my mother and father in-law make it a point to get at least 1 cappuccino from the machine every time they visit. It's good for family relations! 🙂
what is your experience after 6 months??
@@TheWindmillofTime Good morning from Bastrop TX. We use the machine daily. It is a ritual every morning. dump the waste tray, fill the water reservoir , check the beans. We still love it. I am ashamed to say i don't clean it enough. I turned my client on to his and he loves it
I’m finding the shots to be pretty sour…Tastes like there’s lemon juice in there. Philips tech recommended setting the grind to #1 (finest setting). Still tasting the same…
Are your straight espresso shots sour at all?
No, I wonder how much that is related to the beans, what are you using?
@@BryanKlein Lavazza super crema
@@ax75f92 Sourness could be helped with a higher water temperature (I set mine at the highest level). Also, I would try a different medium roast bean, something fresh and local if available. One last thing is to change the grind to something closer to 7-9, I have had good coffee with that range. You do need to wait for 2-3 grinds before all the previous grinds are through the grinder chute that leads to the basket and the new grind setting takes effect.
