- Inspired by Jeffrey Chadwick's book THE STONE MANGER: The Untold Story of the First Christmas, Bed of Stone tells the story of Mary and Joseph who confidently traveled to Bethlehem to fulfill the prophesy of Christ's birth and laid Jesus in a stone manger which would be THE SIGN to the shepherds who came. Once you realize that Jesus of Nazareth was a stone builder, all the metaphors and symbolism of stone he used throughout his ministry come to life and the sign of his birth, the stone manger, becomes even more profound. Think of Simon Peter(stone), chief cornerstone, house on a rock, rock of our redeemer...the images and metaphors go on and on. Interwoven with elements of Handel's Messiah and the prophecies of Isaiah, may this modern take on the majesty and simplicity of His birth starting with the stone manger inspire you to build your foundational faith on Jesus Christ, the stone builder.

I love this connection! Also to add… his mother Mary was the first to see him in his mortal life, laying him on a bed of stone. Another Mary being the first to see him resurrected with the “stone” rolled away from the tomb.

Most of The Family Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings were always informal growing up. I tend to wear at least nicer shoes to church. On Christmas Eve I will my fancy Sparkling Christmas jacket with leggings and Tunic Dress to Christmas Eve service.
