  • This week we get into a bunch of geeky stuff that only a few of us care about, but if you do, it is a good one! We change the deflection yoke, some more caps, some more resistors and even fool around with an old Sencore Ring Tester. Then we rewire the R.F / I.F. coils and jam them back in and finish with some high voltage news. In the end, this 1962 beauty is producing a world class black and white picture!

Width sleeve AKA lin sleeve. Also the "T" shaped extensions can be bent to adjust. Centering rings can be
moused with a blue latteral / purity assy with the blue lat removed. Plastic is rotting on most old sets now.
If the jug is Zenith labeled it will say weather its rebuilt or new. 200 yrs from now most sets still running will
be these. They are so well built & easy to fix compared to others. Almost immortal. Great series, hope you do more.
    LFOD !

the width control probably works by reducing the inductance of the horizontal yoke coil some. brass reduces inductance while ferrite or other iron type materials increase it. the width control on later monitors in the 80's (CRT, monochrome for computers, etc) is a small coil with a magnet that rotates mounted to it, which will bias the core to reduce its inductance depending on the position. I used to get those on coil assortments from radio shack as a kid and had no idea what they were for, but I'd remove the magnets from them.

Sunday Sunday SUNDAY was the radio ad for New York National Speedway in Center Moriches NY on Long Island, a drag racing spot. But they closed in 1980. Maybe they used that ad in other places. Wow brings back memories.

I am an engineer in digital systems ..It is to me a mystery how they device this tv ,without any notions of buffers, controller, CPU , memory ADC or DACS .. it look so alien to me ..Like the pyramids
