The point of this training exercise is to return the service with something that will catch them off guard, but easily attackable. You are not supposed to attack off the service in this training exercise, as the server is supposed to be preparing for small faults in their opponents return. Most basic 3 point training drill. This may not be the case, but this is what it looks like to me.
