This was the game that defined the Schembechler era. I was eight years old at the time of this game, and it made me a Michigan fan now being 54 years later. Go Blue!💙🏈
I was a jr. in college in the fall of 1969, and I watched this game on TV. It was an unusual game--all the scoring happened in the first half. But it was Pierson's punt return in the 2nd period that broke Ohio State's back, and their spirit. After that, Michigan, a 17-point underdog against "the greatest college team of all time," knew they could win. And they did. One of the greatest games ever played.
Barry Pierson had the game of his life here. Michigan was a really underrated team going in. So many good players on that team. Both offense and defense.
I remember watching this game in 7th grade. Ohio State was being hyped as the “Greatest team in College Football History”. Michigan kicked their butts; Michigan was actually more dominant than the score indicates. That was the day I learned what an overrated, over-hyped program Ohio State was then and continues to be almost 50 years later.
Lots of future NFL players in this game: Ron Johnson, Thom Darden, Nick Roman, Mike Sensibaugh, Dan Dierdorf, Jack Tatum,Jim Mandich, Jim Otis and others.
My very first UM game, I was 12 years old, I have been hooked on UM football ever since, the stage is set for a replay of that game in a couple of weeks, David vs Goliath.
Yikes. What happened to the Buckeyes this day? By late 70s it was time ⏲️😪for Ohio State fans to get used to losing big games.Ohio State only lost to Michigan once in next 6 years.

Little known subplot about this game- it contributed to that famous Texas/Arkansas game of the century being for the national title.

You know you're a die-hard Wolverine fan when you can watch a 33 year old video game and still cheer like it's happening live.
Love it! We're going to to do it again this Saturday.
Watching after seeing the 11-25-2023 statement win over..... that school down south, is satisfying. ALWAYS GOOOOOO BLUUUUUE!😊

All those interceptions by Ohio State QBs in this game.Pass plays were buried in OSU playbook next 😳 season
Famous Pierson punt return at 4:45
Wow gotta go way back for this. 😂
Classic game, one of the first Bo games I ever watched when my dad bought it.

Barry Pierson is my football coach!
Had Bo won 5 National Tittles none would have been as big as this game. This is the signature win for this program.
Gee, the Announcer Bill Fleming sounds like he's the Ohio State PR guy
Only because he thought they were going to win
I’m sure Woody had a hard time swallowing this one. Michigan manhandled this overrated bunch.
Bo schembecher said he knew how to beat Ohio state &woody Hayes in 1969
