As a barometer of good taste I always love to ask fellow boomers : Robert Plant and Jimmy Page or JAN & DEAN. If they smirk or answer the former....it's over! These guys were treasure...so it's lovely to see this tribute!
We must give appreciation to Dean for being open minded and loving to be a spiritual brother we could all learn from, I can only imagine what Dean went through because we all hear about how Jan was a difficult individual in the light of Ezra Pound ....
I was 17 and into car racing going to national speed way and race way park with my older brother Lenny a freeway flyer and police officer and actually accidentally brought the drag city album at 16 as a cut out album at Woodworth department store thinking it was car racing to listen to it was much better it was my first record i would buy little did i know in a year my childhood friend stu hersh was involved in booking Jan and Dean and i would not only get to meet Jan and Dean and see them live but started my giant music collection of Jan and Dean beach boys abba a ha midge ure and ultravox and all want Jan and Dean and Jan into the rock and roll hall of fame god bless the memory of Jan Berry Dean Terrence and Jan and Dean! Tommy and Timmy new york city Chelsea usa 10011!
I skipped through it a little because of the sound and crowd noise, but I enjoyed it. I was always a Beach Boys fan, but I was thrilled to know they collaborated on some of their songs and actual recordings. Did I see John Cowsill there?
I agree, but over the last 10 to 15 years the show has sort of evolved into more of a "Beach Boys/ Beach Party / California Surf Sounds" show and less of a "Jan & Dean" show. Especially since Jan passed away. I guess it makes sense from a marketing standpoint, but I do miss hearing songs like "Baby Talk" & "Linda" which are generally not performed much any more. In fact I wish Dean still did "Jennie Lee"!
Not marketing . Jan And Dean worked with the Beach Boys on vocals and Jan also co wrote some of the Beach Boys Songs and they both recorded together on many songs . Thus They could perform said songs . Get older folks and learn .

If Jan&Dean aren't in the Rock&Roll Hall of Fame, just close the doors. The place is a joke!

I like the part where Dean says "They want to hear Surf City. What makes you think we know that"? LOL
Nice! Almost expected Jan to come from out of the shadows at any given moment ! :-)
